Guest MrRant Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Notice it doesn't say Undisputed anymore?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Err? As you can see here, it never did.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 I like the Undisputed Title's design. It harkens back to the old NWA Title. Oh and I'm on RAW baby!
Guest MrRant Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 I could have sworn when the belt first debuted on TV it had "Undisputed" on it.
Guest HartFan86 Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Whoa, it doesn't say it. I thought it did. I hated the belt at first, but now that it got bigger, I love it.
Guest eiker_ir Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 i used to hate the belt when flair first introduced it , the thing looked like a cruiserweight belt or something, but lately it has gotten bigger and better
Guest MaxPower27 Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 I still prefer the WWF title that Austin had. I ordered the new Cruiserweight belt the other day. It's not a bad world title, but I preferred the 2 belts that Jericho had.
Guest TheRockIsTheEuropeanChampion Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 I think that having both old world titles looked kinda cool, especially since they kept yelling "UNDISPUTED!" at every given opportunity. Kinda gave you hope that maybe someone *would* dispute it, and an entertaining feud would thusly sprout. ... Psh. I like this version of the world title. The last one reminded me of the old WWF Lightheavyweight title. This has more of a WCW feel to it, due to its size and the name plate. The name plate gives it a little class. ...But they should have just used the old WCW TV title. You know, just get it over with.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Conspiracy theories abound, especially if they ever stop calling it the Undisputed Title.
Guest Redhawk Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 It SHOULDN'T say Undisputed. The boxing belts never say that. Because everytime the champ has a match, his title his technically in dispute.
Guest tetsubeav Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 It SHOULDN'T say Undisputed. The boxing belts never say that. Because everytime the champ has a match, his title his technically in dispute. I don't think that's the point of calling it the "Undisputed" title. It's more along the lines that the people who are gunning for it don't dispute it's legitimacy as the championship title. As in, that's the only *true* title that represents the top of the heap in the business.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 1. The new title NEVER said "Undisputed" on it. Not the smaller version that Flair handed out nor the larger version the Rock began to have. 2. It is called the "WWE Undisputed Championship" because for a while, there were two then-WWF champions. The original WWF title and the "World" title (formerly the WCW title). Once that belt became absorbed into the WWF, the Fed had two world champions. Thus, having the mini tourney to unify the belts left us with one 'undisputed' WWE champion.
Guest Redhawk Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 They only called it the "world" title, for what, a couple of weeks? Everyone saw it as the WCW title, and therefore the WWF title hasn't been in dispute since Kane and Taker both pinned Austin.
Guest treble charged Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 Yes, it should be 'Undisputed WORLD Champion', as that's what was in dispute, NOT the WWE/F title. Actually, it should be 'Unified World Champion', but I can make do with what we've been given.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 I'm not saying that the generic "World" title was a long-standing title under that name. Sure, everybody looked at it still as the WCW title. But with that company put out of business, and the WWF taking possession of the belt, for those 3 weeks between PPVs, you had two WWF champions. Thus, unifying the titles left you with the "Undisputed WWF (and now WWE) Championship." It shouldn't be called the "Undisputed World Championship" now because there are still other titles out there, like in Japan for instance. Sure, if you are the WWE champion right now, you are basically the alpha male of the wrestling world, but technically, it's not undisputed throughout the world, just the WWE.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 It should just be called the WWE Title, and that's it. The WWE isn't the only wrestling fed around *cough* NWA-TNA *cough*. Obviously, the WWE doesn't acknowledge the Indy feds, and the NWA-TNA.
