Guest Ace309 Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Brock holds the belt with all the lineage, Hunter's got a self-gratifying title, blah blah blah. Okay, as for the unification pool (making it the really, REALLY undisputed championship), I've got Hunter going over on the pay-per-view for no good reason. Who's betting against me?

Guest Brian Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 I will. Because if they want to keep the split going, they're going to have to work with two seperate titles. Giving Trips the crap title has increased my love for SmackDown.
Guest C-Bacon Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Ok, so whats happening with the lineage? One would think that you would continue the WCW World Title lineage, with Chris Jericho being the last title holder. But since the WWE World title is unified with old WCW title, then that can't happen. blah, this is too confusing, they should have just kept floating champions. This has to end by WrestleMania...
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 They could unify the RAW title with RVD's IC title to give the new RAW World title the IC title (and the WCW US title, Hardcore title, European title etc...) lineage. But that would suck, I don't want the IC title to die.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Remember that HHH was the last "unified" undisputed champion, so he has both belts. I think... so, it's not confusing, he just said "to hell-uh with Brock!" and took the WCW title out of his closet.
Guest Ace309 Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 I'm actually going to wait and see on that. As Bisch said it last night, I had to interpret awarding HHH the World Championship as making another belt out of whole cloth. I may have missed something (I got a phone call halfway during the 20-minute-uh promo-uh), but I don't recall Mr. Schoff saying anything about withdrawing the belt from the Undisputed crown, or declaring Brock the WWE Champion only. It seems to me that if Bischoff wanted this to have the WCW/World Championship lineage, he would have said something to that effect. Of course, as a pre-law guy, I'm in a mindset that requires me to look for ridiculous things, so let me know if I'm way off in left field here.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Who's gonna be the PPV main event now? The Raw World Champ or Smackdown World Champ? Or seperate PPVs?
Guest Some Guy Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 I think they'll flip back and forth as to who gets the last match depending on who they think is a bigger draw, this might cause infighting between Taker and HHH. That could be fun.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 I haven't watched Raw in two weeks, and don't plan on doing so until I read that it's showing signs of improvement. Instead, I'll keep watching SD! and pretend that the Heavyweight Ego title does not exist.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 I don't think even THEY know yet. We're back to booking on cocktail napkins again, I think. Just let the angle play out and we'll see. They can't just come up with something completely retarded here because it all has to build up to a PPV of some sorts.

Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 All our crying and complaining about Brock being the champ has been all for not because you can guran-damn-tee that Brock is going to be treated as the "other" champ. In one night HHH sent Brock from being the monster that beat Hogan and Rock to being "just another" world champ. I say that sucks, what say you?

Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 I say it was bound to happen. HHH isn't a bad contingency plan in case Brock completely bombs, as he's strong with the marks, especially in this heel role. We just hate him for holding down our favorites, that's all. Look beyond that and it's a good backup plan.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 I like the idea of unifying the IC title with the big gold belt. Only because they'd have to call it the World International Intercontinental Hardcore European NWA Undisputed Unified Heavyweight Championship. Make a slick little graphic for that, fuckers.
Guest Johnny Blaze Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 My bet is, they've finally come up with a long term story arc, that being Brock/HHH and unifying the titles, again. H is the only marquee name left for Brock to face (even though even causual fans don't give a shit about him either. His pop was anemic at best.) and so they're trying to make it a big deal and will probably draw it out until WM X-9 where Brock will job to HHH. H may not keep the Raw title the whole time, but he'll get it back in time to face Brock at WM and be the guy to unseat Brock. At least they started to show a little forsight and long term planning, even if it is a giant HHH love fest, at least its better than the 1000 monkey's with typewriters we've had for most of the year.

If Aardvark gets the "big win" over Brock to "maintain" his *ahem* "heat". I'll quit watching and I am not alone. I don't particularly like Brock being champ, and would have preferred seeing he and Angle work a program with the more over guy getting the belt at the end. Thing is that the last PPV I bought was RR and when HGH won I swore I would quit buying until the McMahons get HGH's little member out of their posterior caveties. Free WWE TV no longer being part of my life is just about ten squashes away.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 its better than the 1000 monkey's with typewriters that's 1000 crack smoking monkeys with typewriters. And this could possibly be another attempt at whoring the unification angle, because people did get into it pretty big last time. However, the sheer imposibility of the odds that they have planned something more than two months ahead of time makes this very unlikely. I don't know if you've ever tried to tape cocktail napkins together, but not only does it require incredibly nimble fingers, but also zen-like focus and discipline. Quite frankly, I don't think the writers can pull it off.

Quite frankly, I don't think the writers can pull it off. That was a great way of putting it. I hope there is a long term plan.(though I doubt it) Thing is that just saying, "Let's refocus on Crips!" is NOT what I want to see long term and by the deadness of the crowd last night I am hardly alone. If WWE wants to put the belt on a slow large guy why not focus on UT? um oh wait never mind they have been...
