Guest converge241 Posted September 7, 2002 Report Posted September 7, 2002 From WrestlingObserver.com: Brock Lesnar d. Triple H clean with the F-5 to retain the WWE Championship. HHH got a big face pop for his entrance, but turned heel on the crowd by - you guessed it - insulting the hometown crowd as well as refusing to put his World title on the line, saying the hometown crowd didn't deserve it. Lesnar got a good face pop, but it wasn't the overwhelming one you'd have expected. Match was terribly slow, with HHH playing the cowardly heel for the most part and Lesnar no-selling just about all of HHH's offense. Crowd got into it late with a series of near-falls after a ref bump, including Lesnar kicking out of the pedigree. Finish came when Triple H went for another pedigree, but Lesnar reversed it into the F-5 for the win. Ok pop for the finish, but the match wasn't particularly great. No extracurriculars after the match - Lesnar celebrated with the title, HHH demanded to be announced as "still the World champion", and that was it.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted September 7, 2002 Report Posted September 7, 2002 No matter how bad the match might be, seeing someone no-sell HHH's lame offense would still be worth it.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted September 7, 2002 Report Posted September 7, 2002 Don't they normally use house shows as a 'dress rehersal' for what goes on at televised events? Hearing about Lesnar no-selling HHH all over the place, then beating him with the F-5 seems almost too good to be true.
