Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Jesse Ventura, who has publicly stated he would not run for a second term as governor, was recently on "Larry King Live" on CNN. When asked if he would ever return to wrestling, he said would never wrestle in the ring again, but would consider a role as a commentator "where it's safe" credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter So how about it? I don't think Ventura was really worthy of all the glamor they laid on him in past years (Special Guest Referee? Well, SummerSlam was in Minnesota.. But XFL announcer? Bwuh?) but having dealt with last night's show I wish they'd kill Lawler right now.
Guest Brian Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Tazz is WWE's number one color man as far as I'm concerned. He does the pay per view better and his two hours a week is better.
Guest mach7 Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Well, I think a lot of Jesse's accolades come from his voice. He has a "commentary voice" so to speak. Which is one of the reasons he was so successful on the mic. Not to mention the fact that he's a good public speaker. I'd go for Jesse over Jerry any day.
Guest El Gigante Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I would like to see Jesse Ventura back as a commentator, as long as we get the King off TV. After last night I can't take him anymore.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 This is actually a question? OF COURSE!!! The Body = Best Color dude ever. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I would give anything to see Heyman or Ventura (both long shots, I know) take Lawler's place on Raw. I am so sick of his horny old man act and it genuinely lessens my enjoyment of Raw.
Guest evilhomer Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Heyman, Ventura or my pick - RAVEN, anyone over Lawler. I don't know if Jesse would still have it, but he was golden working with Monsoon. I wouldn't complain about him coming back, but I'd want to see him working again before predicting how good he would be.
Guest areacode212 Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 Of course I would go with Ventura over Lawler, but he would have to be 80s Heel Jesse, and not this Tweener shit that the WWE likes their "heel" color guys to play. I was just watching a Hogan/Perfect match from SNME, featuring Ventura/McMahon on commentary...boy do I miss Ventura bashing Hogan's egomania.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 yeah, Heyman, Raven and Ventura are the best commentary guys I've ever seen...er, heard btw, I had to watch 99% of Raw on mute due to Lawlers non-stop HLA hype, but at least JR tried to get him to stop it this time
Guest snowfan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 The really pathetic thing is I think even Vince would be an improvement over Lawler.....
Guest candie45 Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I'd take ANYONE over Lawler. Okay, maybe not Lita. I heard that she did commentary on Velocity some odd weeks ago, and I imagine that it was horrible. It's just not worth the rith, people.
Guest areacode212 Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 I absolutely think Vince would be better than Lawler. He knows how to put storylines over--even when he was a horrible play-by-play guy, he was good at doing that, and I think he has the intellect to do more than repeat the same joke over and over again.

That's my point.... I'd like to know who in the hell think "puppies, puppies..." is STILL "cool". Lawler is a heat killer.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Does Ventura even follow wrestling. Remember he was terrible on WCW.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Ventura over Lawler? HELL YEAH! </scsa> Whoever said Raven though, I agree.
Guest midnight_burn Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 I rather have a half-eaten piece of pizza on color commentary than Lawler, let alone a great color man like Jesse Ventura. Ventura, Heyman, Raven, a broom, anybody is fine by me as long as it isn't Lawler.
Guest Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Well since my favourite colour man, Bobby "The Brain" has throat cancer (I think, Im not sure which cancer he has), I would easily have Ventura. He was not only a colour man, but he did provide some insight into what was going on during the match
Guest MaxPower27 Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Oh yeah, I'd take Jesse over Lawler. Raven and Heyman are very good as well. RIght now, I think that 2 hours of Mark Henry farting into a microphone would be better than Lawler.
