Guest AnnieEclectic Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 If you get ESPNews, watch as they start the new half hour, it's the same every time... they talked about the KC Royals game where the first base coach got attacked... odd story, but then they go to the scoreboard bit showing the box scores and stats... and they begin playing music.... ...it was the Hardyz theme. Why... does ESPNews have rights to the Hardy Boyz theme? I know WCW used stock music (Booker T's theme used on Kids In The Hall...) but I thought WWE kept a tight hold on theme music copyrights. Anyone else catch instances of this??? -Annie
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 I don't get ESPN. Anyways, yeah, I thought for sure the WWE had a copyright on all the superstar themes.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Well, CBS has been using it, as well. I think when they moved to TNN, CBS/ESPN did an agreement to use certain themes, MAYBE.
Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 I thought ESPN was owned by ABC...
Guest notJames Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 The Hardyz theme is stock music. I don't know this for sure, but I think that's the reason WW_ hasn't put their theme on any of the compilation CDs.
Guest Kingpk Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Yep, I've heard it. Hardcore Holly's theme too (his old one). Must be stock.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Tajiri's theme is stock music because I heard it used in a Rush Hour behind-the-scenes segment. As for the Hardyz theme, it wouldn't surprise me, but it's a pretty good stock theme.
Guest Incandenza Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 I've also heard the Hardyz music during an ad for Trimark home video. It is indeed stock.
Guest Eagan469 Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 The Hardyz theme is indeed stock, and is titled "Loaded". I remember the CBS series "Wolf Lake" used to use it in ads for the show. More stock themes currently used in WWE: Ric Flair Booker T Crash UnAmericans Molly Holly Rikishi Jamie Noble Tajiri Trish Stratus Jazz Mark Henry Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli More I can't think of right now...
Guest The Tino Standard Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 To clear up the confusion about who owns ESPN, CBS, TNN, yada yada... ESPN is, indeed, under the ABC umbrella as was posted earlier. ABC, in turn, is owned by Disney. So, theoretically, ESPN is actually under Disney. TNN is under CBS (as is MTV, VH1 and a few other channels). THEY are all owned by Viacom.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Okay, Also Sprach Zarathustra is NOT stock music. It's a masterpiece. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Brian Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Viacom also owns the majority of UPN.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 On a similar note, I was watching the Red Sox game the other night, and their OF Trot Nixon comes to the plate to a song that sounded A LOT like hhh's theme. It looks like Trot's planning on holding down some AAA players, no selling a hit by pitch, and sleeping with the owner's daughter. because he's that damn good.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 WCW had most of their guys using stock music. Jericho, Luger, DDP... Not very shocking at all. RVD's old music was most likely stock.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 I remember when I went to a Flames game in 2001, they played Flair's music during a break.
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 I went to a Bruins game, and they had the WWE CD on... well, Big Show's music started (the "WEEELL" part) and the guy up in the booth cut it off and started playing Shakira. I laughed.

Guest BaldFish Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 Okay, Also Sprach Zarathustra is NOT stock music. It's a masterpiece. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge ....a masterpiece that is free to record as stock music due to its copyright expiration and subsequent release into the public domain.

Guest Eagan469 Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 Okay, Also Sprach Zarathustra is NOT stock music. It's a masterpiece. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge A masterpiece that has been recorded THOUSANDS of times. The exact version he uses now is production music.
