Guest humongous2002 Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 Imagine the next night on RAW after the ppv, RVD the new RAW world heavyweight champion is offered a brand new belt by none other than Vince McMahon. Vince starts talking about the dawning of a new era for WWE RAW and the big old gold belt should be put to rest just like WCW, never to be seen again. He hands RVD a brand new shinning belt with the WWE logo on it but with a different design. Do you guys think that would be a good idea to elevate the RAW belt, and if it isn't then what does the WWE has to do to make the RAW title mean something??

Besides, I get what you were saying by a fresh start, but the belt is just a prop. It's what the champion does with it that makes it meaningful, RVD has done that before.

Remember how the Undisputed Champion wasn't as impressive with the North American Junior Lightheavyweight belt as opposed to the two huge belts? Guest jester Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 Handing a belt to a face would be heat suicide in my opinion. The only way just handing a belt out works is if it's to a heel, and the heel treats it as though it's an actual accomplishment (see Dibiase's Million Dollar Belt) but everyone else thinks it's a vanity belt. Unfortunately, they aren't treating HHH's current title like this. The other wrestlers actually seem to want it. The only worth HHH's current title has to me is whatever you can for it when you melt it down. RVD seems more interesting in beating up HHH than anything else, which is a good thing IMHO. HHH being presented with the Undisputed belt (the one Brock is wearing) was different, because that was simply symbolic of the Unified titles, replacing two belts with one. Not just a free gift to someone who had done nothing to earn a title.
