Guest snowfan Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Wrestling Observer is saying that Flyboy Rocco Rock is dead. He was 49 and had a massive heart attack. End of an Icon
Guest the pinjockey Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 He was 49? He did not seem that old.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 I feel kind bad to ask this, but who was he? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest jimmy no nose Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 I feel kind bad to ask this, but who was he? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge One of the members of former WWF/WCW/ECW tag team Public Enemy.
Guest Eagan469 Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 that really sucks - God bless him
Guest Eagan469 Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 When were they in the WWF? they had a tryout match before a PPV in 1994, I think they lost to the Smoking Gunns
Guest Eagan469 Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Just checked the PWI almanac - they lost to the Smoking Gunns in a dark match at Survivor Series 1995.
Guest the pinjockey Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Didnt they have a short run around 96 or 97 as well where Farooq and Bradshaw stiffed the ever loving hell out of them to get rid of the garbage wrestlers?
Guest papacita Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Didnt they have a short run around 96 or 97 as well where Farooq and Bradshaw stiffed the ever loving hell out of them to get rid of the garbage wrestlers? Early 99. As for Rocco dying, that sucks. The Public Enemy was my favorite team for a while and was one of the reasons I started watching ECW.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Yeah what was the deal with that story? I remember everyone beating the hell out of them on TV and JR screaming that it was b/c everyone felt they were rats abandoning a sinking ship.
Guest the pinjockey Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 I figured it was a combination of them being garbage wrestlers and the fact that they went from ECW to WCW to WWF in about a six month stretch IIRC. I always liked the Public Enemy. I guess you could consider them a guilty plesure because they werent really a talented team I just liked them.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Wow, didn't realize Rocco Rock was in his 40's already. Well, RIP Ted Petty
Guest Downhome Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 I will never forget the series of matches that Public Enemy had against Alex Wright & The Disco Inferno. Call me a sucker, but I was so into that series of matches, and will never forget them!
Guest Brian Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Meltzer said he was actually very good in his younger years, so it would be quite something to find those tapes.
Guest Ram Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Wow, just wow. I remember their series with the Nasty Boys in WCW. Oddly enjoyable, for what it was. One last na na na na for Rocco.
Guest Eagan469 Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Here's PE's WCW theme song for the hell of it: *Left-click, wait for new window to open, click "download" button* http://download.server2.come2store.com/You...lic%20Enemy.mp3
Guest cabbageboy Posted September 22, 2002 Report Posted September 22, 2002 Yeah I too like the dog collar match with the table that won't break at BATB 96. Fun match with PE/Nastys.
Guest geniusMoment Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Damn so he was 42 during their feud with the Gangstas in ECW in 1995. Anyone who says these performers sucked go back and watch some of their brawling from 94-96 ECW. They weren't great tech. wrestlers but they could brawl like mothers. I thought he was in his twenties in 95. I hope I age like that
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 You mean dying of a heart attack before you're 50?
Guest Aroen Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 first ones to use tables in mainstream wrestling too. it just didn't go over with the crowd. i didn't find their wrestling personnas "credible" for mainstream shit. to me, they seemed like an extreme men on a mission (that's not a diss either); yes, they were white but i didn't like they're gimmick. i did enjoy they're ecw stuff. they put on some crazy matches.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Public Enemy were never so Over in the careers than when they were in ECW. Just watching the Crowd Waving their arms everytime their theme starts is amazing. a Couple of Hundred people waving in mass in front of the ring. Hell at Heatwave I believe was the one where Public Enemy had the crowd actually rush the ring and dance with them. Though ECW was always Audience participation friendly.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Where is Johnny Grunge now anyway?
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 Last I heard MECW so obviously that was a hell of a long time ago.
