Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Ok let's say this.....what if Angle had gotten the Brock push? Won King of the Ring, beat Rock cleanly at SS and then moved on to defend against UT at Unforgiven....... Do you think that Taker would've treated Angle like Brock? Do you think he would've no sold everything Angle did and made him look like a little bitch throughout the match, beat him several times with no ref, and then beat his ass after the match to prove to the fans in case they didn't get it that you're the toughest bastard alive and this guy is nothing but a wuss? Oh wait didn't Taker already do this at Fully Loaded 2000 and SS 2000. Well do you think he'd do it again?
Guest alfdogg Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 But...Brock's big...and Angle's small.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Yes. Because Taker was essentially protecting his spot, and he was threatened. Brock had taken out both Hogan and Rock and he was next in line. That's why it was so important for Taker to sandbag and not sell. The finish, and post-match was just icing on the cake.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 So if Angle had done what Brock has done you think he'd have been treated the same way? And Angle small? Sure the guy may not be that tall but his muscle's are scary.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I think it's obvious 12 years later that Taker is still just a side show freak who won't/can't make anyone look good.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I think AngleSault would be all over him if Angle was being forced to wrestle the same way. What Brock needs to work on are just manneurisms during the match, little things that really give it that feel like something is happening. That's why his mat work comes off as boring; he works in a lot of elements but he has no charisma so to speak.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 No I'm not talking about Angle working the same way as Brock. I'm just talking about taking Brock out beginning at KOTR and putting Angle in......you know the awesome Angle we all know and love.
Guest Mole Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Yeah, but I bet money that Taker is going to job at Unforgiven.
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 But awesome Angle only got to be awesome because he got to work with guys like Benoit, Jericho, Austin; and got to wrestle around Rock more. And he still didn't get where he is without going through Benoit, Shane McMahon, and Austin in 2001. But would people be bitching? If there's someone to champion, you bet they will. It's natural, pychologically for people to always think something's better.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Are you saying that it wouldn't be better if Taker could sell and put people over?
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Are you talking to me? If so, the answer is Taker needs to sell no metter what the case. Especially in that situation.
Guest Lonewolf218 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Didn't Kurt Angle already get the Lesnar push? He debuted in the WWF in late 1999. Won both the European and Intercontinental Titles by Royal Rumble 2000. Lost both titles at Wrestlemania 2000. Then a couple months later won the King of the Ring. The next month he jobbed to the Undertaker, but won the World title from The Rock a couple months later and held the title till No Way Out 2001. He did all that within a year of his debut. Now the thing I have to question is.......why do most people say how horrible Brock Lesnar is for getting everything too early, while Kurt Angle already did those things a year earlier and people still say he's being held down?
Guest Brian Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Because he was getting a chance to wrestle good people and was good on the mic.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 If Angle had gotten the same type of push that Lesnar had gotten, I don't think there would have been too much of a difference. Maybe the only thing different would be that Angle might have won cleanly at Unforgiven or something like that.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Now the thing I have to question is.......why do most people say how horrible Brock Lesnar is for getting everything too early, while Kurt Angle already did those things a year earlier and people still say he's being held down? The fans made Angle over. Vince and his creative staff decided Brock SHOULD be over. Big difference actually.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Oh lets be fair, Taker beat Angle at Fully Loaded, Lost at Surviror Series and both times he did Sold for Angle when he went for the legs. So Stop Whining. Angle would get a decent enough match out of Taker.
Guest bob_barron Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Taker completely squashed Angle at Fully Loaded and made him look like an absolute joke. I think it's time for Taker to retire
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Nope not time Nope nope nope And He didn't Completely sqash him, Unless your Taker hating mind Erased the 10 minutes Angle Had Taker on the mat with a Leg grapevine and Taker was yelling ... RIGHT?
Guest bob_barron Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 The match only lasted seven minutes so Angle couldn't have had Taker on the mat with a leg grapevine for that long...RIGHT?
Guest bob_barron Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I only started hating Taker after Unforgiven- my dislike for him started last summer during the DDP feud and when he beat Booker T at No Mercy. Hopefully he'll take the hint and retire by WMXIX.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Was Longer than 7 minutes.. Intro, Brawl ringside, brawl in the stands, Back Ringside, and into the ring, Then matchwork then Angle works the legs, continues to work the legs, continues to work the legs. Then Taker comes back and puts him down... Next time you watch it, put the counter on and see how long. Unless you want to Stick with your 7 minute theory to maintain your contempt for the Taker..
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Nope not time Nope nope nope And He didn't Completely sqash him, Unless your Taker hating mind Erased the 10 minutes Angle Had Taker on the mat with a Leg grapevine and Taker was yelling ... RIGHT? Their match at Fully Loaded wasn't even 8 minutes, and I believe Taker won immediately after that leg grapevine spot.
Guest bob_barron Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I'm talking about the Fully Loaded match and according to prowrestlinghistory it went 7:34.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 heh guess it seems longer watching... Still HE SOLD! Don't Deny it!!! lol
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 heh guess it seems longer watching... Still HE SOLD! Don't Deny it!!! lol Taker's matches usually feel like an eternity. It felt like his match against Flair at X-8 was an hour.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 how long was his Match at X8?
Guest bob_barron Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 According to prowrestlinghistory- 18:47. I loved the X-8 match- I gave it ****
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 The fact is Taker makes everybody he fights look like a joke. I can't even fathom how you can sit here and deny this Trivia. We aren't blind Taker haters....you're a blind Taker lover. You seem to find no fault in him.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I still say Benoit should have gotten Brock's push since he came back before KOTR. He's always been pushed as a little tough bastard and was and still Is, more over then Lesnar.
