Guest Mattdotcom Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 I caught Our Lady Peace at a music fest last night. Before playing "Whatever", Raine (the lead singer) says, "We've got this friend. He's a big guy. Spends his days in the gym, training his body...his mind. Spends his nights wrestling on national TV. But he's not like the other wrestlers. He's not a pretty boy with long blonde hair and a fake tan. His name is Chris Benoit, and we wrote his theme music. It's called "Whatever". I thought that was kinda cool. Benoit's name got a good reaction from the crowd. "Whatever" kicks ass live. Good show all around. Oh, since Chris Benoit is the subject of the topic: *****. There's yer quota. Move this to Music if you want, I could care less.
Guest HartFan86 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 That's fucking sweet they played it. I'm going to an OLP in October and if they mention Benoit, I go pyscho. I'm really becoming an OLP with "Whatever" and "Not Enough."
Guest Mattdotcom Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 They played "Not Enough", too...but didn't mention Jeff Hardy. Here's the whole setlist. Hope it helps. All For You Do You Like It Superman's Dead Naveed Not Enough Whatever Innocent Birdman Clumsy Right Behind You (Mafia) Somewhere Out There Starseed They played for an hour, so you might get some more songs if its JUST an OLP concert.

Thank god no mention of Jeff Hardy... ...and I think it's just OLP.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 If Our Lady Peace comes to Calgary, I'm going for sure.
Guest Hitman Jebus Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Saw them on Feb. 2000 at the Molson (now Bell) Centre in Montreal...it was AWESOME and it made me a HUGE OLP fan. I liked them before hand but they weren't in my favorites, but man they kicked so much ass live!!! So...I highly recommend going to see them when they pass by your town
Guest treble charged Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Raine Maida doesn't like the fact that the song is used for wrestling. Jeremy Taggert (the drummer) convinced him to write it for Benoit, and, while he likes the song itself, doesn't like wrestling.
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Maybe he thinks that Motorhead will HHHold him down.
Guest iamsherm Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Why would they mention Jeff Hardy? Is that his theme now? "Not Enough?"
Guest Mattdotcom Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Because "Not Enough" was played for Jeff's Desire video before his match with HHH.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I read somewhere that Maida was offended by the title "Forceable Entry" and didn't really want to associate w/ the WWE because of it. For a guy who's bangin' Chantel Kreviatzuk, he sure is sensitive. Lucky bastard....
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I read somewhere that Maida was offended by the title "Forceable Entry" and didn't really want to associate w/ the WWE because of it. Maybe he just appreciates the art of correct spelling?
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 I remember reading that Story. Raine Maida wasn't mad over the CD title, he was mad because it was on the CD. WWE came to them about doing a song, and I think the Bassist of the Band is a wrestling fan. He knew Chris Benoit was Canadian and was really good so they did the song. When they did "Whatever" they thought it was only going to be Benoit's theme song. They had no idea the song would end up on a CD. So, maybe their not getting Royalty Checks?
Guest mach7 Posted September 26, 2002 Report Posted September 26, 2002 Yeah, it's too bad the song [Whatever] blows the big one. Wrestling themes shouldn't be so "anti-climactic" when they start out. This song starts out with the old guitar riff for Benoit's original theme.. but then cuts to lyrics that are so drowned out & low, that you don't even know a song is playing anymore! It's boring & besides.. it gets cut off before it even gets to the chorus. Did I menton the song blows? ;p
