Hulk Hogan's WWE Status...

Hulk Hogan appeared on the "Bubba the Love Sponge" radio show this morning and had a few things to say about his WWE status. Bubba asked Hogan if the reason he was sitting out right now was due to a contract dispute with WWE. Hogan stated that was ridiculous, because he does not have a WWE contract. He said he was working on a "handshake" agreement he made with Vince McMahon. The deal was to have Hogan work only a handful of dates, and those dates were fulfilled in about two weeks. The reason he is at home at this time is because the creative team has nothing for him to do. He has not even talked to anyone from WWE in weeks and doesn't really know when or if he will ever be back.

He said that the rumors of him returning in time for WrestleMania are absurd because he himself doesn't know anything. As for the tour to Australia, Hogan was advertised to be at the show but after a money dispute with Vince over how much he would be paid, he decided not to go. He also told friends that he was just burned out, and with his sore back, the idea alone of flying to Australia did not appeal to him.

I think he has maybe 2 matches left.

1 with Lesnar, and the other with Vince.

It would be great if a Hogan-Flair dual-retirement match could take place at Mania (both retire, no matter who wins), both wrestling as faces. It would be very fitting, as the two wrestlers that defined their eras would go out facing each other one last time; and it would no doubt spark major interest and buyrates too.

The big problem with that is that older wrestlers should go out on their backs putting over young talent, and that wouldn't be accomplished here. Maybe if both got into one last feud with two younger guys in the PPV before Mania and put the youngsters over.

I think it'd totally own if Flair's last big match before Mania if this were to happen--or even his retirment match, if the Hogan scenario doesn't happen--was putting over Jericho, in a something-vs.-moniker match. i.e., Jericho would win and inherit the "Nature Boy" nickname. Flair himself stole it from Rogers so this idea isn't totally out there.

I'd like to see Hogan vs. Vince at Wrestlemania 19, which could be Hogan's last match.

Hogan vs. Flair retirement match was something I had in mind also.

That would be one of the few matches that would receive a long standing ovation.

Unless the crowd sucks.

I don't think that it's even possible for a crowd to suck for that match. It would easily rank among the most emotional matches ever, way before the bell even rang.

actually would want to see just for laughs a three way match between Hogan representing WWF Flair Representing NWA/WCW and Lawler Representing USWA and Midsouth

Because nothing screams "Buy This Show" like two 50-year olds battling for no reason, one of which isn't even a wrestler (and I'm stretching it for Hogan in that respect).

Despite my statements on age, a Flair v. Hogan Double Retirement would be better, provided that it would be a true, sincere retirement for both, and would be properly built up as such.

If a Hogan vs. Flair double retirement match happened i'd want it to happen either in Canada or Flair Country. I wouldn't trust any other crowd with that match.

Wow, talk about "one of these things is not like the other."
