Why No More Intercontinental Title?

Man (sigh), I just finished watching WWE Raw and I am heart broken! My favorite title in WWE Roster, the Intercontinental Title, will be going in the trash can after WWE No Mercy! I mean look at all the history there was with the Intercontinental Title! 23 Years in the making! Is WWE stupid or something?? Why don't they just take out the Lightweight title or European title? Or maybe even the Cruiserweight title? Man if I saw Vince McMahon right now I would punch him in the head :bonk: ! My favorite wrestler now Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) is not a 4 time Interncontinental champion anymore after No Mercy. Hell many of the wrestlers such as Honky Tonk Man, who only won the Intercontinental Title will not be champions anymore!? Why can't they just leave the W Stinking C W Title in the trash where it belongs. Hell why don't they just have a Sunday Night Heat Heavyweight Title too?! This Raw Title and Smackdown Title stuff should just stay in the fu**ing messed up scripts section. All there doing is using the same scripts when there were a WWE and WCW fued and making it a WWE RAW Vs. WWE SMACKDOWN fued!

~Tell me this is crap or what?

So Trips will be the only title holder and be in every segment. Then he can have Vince rename it to Monday Night HHH.

Posted

They're just trying to infuse as much cred into Trip's title as possible. Sad isn't it.

Can't they give it credibility by, you know, having him defend it a lot and have good feuds to build its importance?

The Intercontinental title has been integral since its inception as the midcard aspiration, and the way to guage how ready for the main event someone was. Look at the holders, for chrissakes!! I guess they took wwftitlehistory.com down for a reason...

They handled this belt situation all wrong.

1. They handed it over to someone without any kind of of tournament

2. They split it off from a belt that's around the waist of Lesnar, a new guy still trying to secure credability, and this didn't help.

3. They used an old belt, not a new one

4. They have phased RVD, a guy who unified the other belts, out of the picture.

5. And now it looks like they are going to kill the IC belt, a belt with history and value.

Why not get someone to throw in the trash too?

Why do they have to go with the tired old formula of Trips and Kane.

And I don't buy into smark conspiracy theories but it really does look like Trips is going around cashing in all those jobs he did to people.

Eventually every major wrestling title in history will be unified into one, the "HHH Title". Triple H will then hold it for all eternity.

Then they have a scapegoat for the low ratings and will push HHH again. Duh.

When the best possible thing you can hope for from an PPV main event is a double DQ, then the booking seriously sucks.

I wasn't saying it would happen, I was just saying it was unthinkable.

It is kind of sad that it's to the point where everyone right away know's the outcome.

they had 20 Plus Years with the IC title with the WWF and the World title.. and Somehow Magically the World title and Holder was able to have Credibility. Hey if Randy Savage can Be IC champ while Hogan was World champ, and the World title was still not indangered of losing its crediblity, then HHH and the booking staff shouldn't worry about the IC title.. Or the Euro title...Or the HARDCORE title.

If HHH wrote a single note to the booking staff referring to this then he is Guilty of being the Most Selfish Self center Son of the bitch on a Planet...

AND BEFORE the Damn TAKER BASHING BEGINS LIKE IT DOES IN EVERY DAMN THREAD THAT DOESN'T EVEN RELATE TOO HIM! At least Taker hasn't been Champion a half dozen times and made Brock his bitch Constantly. One match and your all screaming, but HHH has been Playing Schilinder To Jericho's Beacher since 2000 and Jericho never won a match. Test never won a match in their unspoken feud of HHH stealing Stephanie, until a few months ago where Test finally pinned him. HHH Pisses on lower carders like Spike Dudley and Jeff Hardy by taking them down with a Fricken Sleeper... Taker faced lower cardsmen too and actually gave them a decent time before he squashed them (So Horribly by your standards) But At least he Hit them with a Finisher that wasn't something Everyone else on the Planet would belly to Back out of If anyone else but HHH was Applying it.

The IC title was held by the greats. pedro morelez, Tito Santana, Don Muroco, Greg Valentine, Randy Savage, Ricky the Dragon, Honky tonk, Rick Rude, Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Jeff Jarrett, Goldust, The Rock, HHH, Austin, Jericho, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Hardcore Holly, Kane, Albert, Lance Storm, Edge, RVD....

But... SCREW THEM.. Obviously the History in the IC Title Doesn't Mean anything to Steph's SCREWBUDDY's Championship Image!

(Takes a Breath)

AHHHHH I feel better...Don't you?

No way in hell Kane's winning. Kane's character screams midcard, and he "owes" HHH a job. Triple H wins, and becomes the World-Euro-Intercontinental-US-Hardcore Champion, or Double DQ to stop the title merging.

I know that it would make sense to have a No DQ match in that case, but I'm hoping not, and that would make too much sense.

They might as well make the "If HHH wins he gets the tag titles" stip...just so they can give him all the belts at once...

I like HHH in the ring, but I think it was very lame to switch and have RVD feud with Flair just so HHH can mow down 2nd rate contenders for the time being.

Like I said in the Raw thread, I'm pissed about them getting rid of the I-C Title too. Even with all of the half-assed booking surrounding the belt over the last few years, it's still my favorite belt, and I think it's stupid to get rid of it. I dunno if it's being done to add more credibility to the World title (which can easily be done by having Hunter defend it against credible challengers-remember the Rock's 2nd I-C reign), or because they feel the I-C doesn't have enough credibility, but I think this is a horrible decision. The belt is useful to guys like Booker T right now. I hope they don't actually go through with this.

Besides the Tag Titles, there will be no mid-card titles now. I don't consider the CW title a mid-card title because not everyone can in it.

There are going to be a lot more Bubba Dudley type situations with no mid-card title of guys getting pushed up to the top of the card because there is no middle ground. All or nothing. This is a bad move.

I don't understand it. Last year on TV here are the titles we had being defended. WWF, WCW, IC, US, Euro, Hardcore, WWF Tag, WCW Tag, Lightheavyweight, Cruiserweight, and Womens. They downsized that some which was a good thing. When the split happened I didn't mind the fact that there were so many belts. They got rid of the Euro title which I thought was questionable at the time, but looking back may not have been a bad move. They got rid of the Hardcore which was long overdue, but if they had corrected the division instead of letting it get rock hard stale it could have remained valuable. Now they are getting rid of the IC which I think is downright stupid. I can't believe it. Now on Raw there will be the World Title, Tag Titles, and Womens Title (which used to float, but now is Raw exclusive I guess). While SD has the WWE and the CW titles. They go from too many too not enough. Go figure.

This is a sad sad day in the history of pro "wrestling"... Notice the quotations. 20+ years down the tube. The title that gave us such classics as Steamboat/Savage, and such heated feuds of that ilk will be gone after No Mercy. So sad. I honestly wish I knew what WWE's creative team was thinking when they came up with this one. Seriously. I understand they were trying to phase out all the unnecessary titles.. but shit, the World Title is completely unecessary compared to the IC title. The World title has been bloody-well BASTARDIZED from what it used to be. At least the IC title hasn't had it's name changed a billion (okay, it was only three times: NWA, WCW, World Title, but still...) times...

But, on the otherhand, never say never with these fuck-ups in WWE. They "retired" the Euro title a long time ago and then brought it back. Even the current "World Title" was "retired" but brought back. So hopefully, when all of this brand-extension nonsense is over with, they'll bring back the IC Title.

Bah, what's it matter? It's not like I'll be watching anyways.

This is just stupid that they're getting rid of the Intercontinental Title. I mean, they could have at least had Jericho stay as the Intercontinental Champion, and defend it. Then, this match at No Mercy, would just be for the World Title, and the Intercontinental Title would still be in the WWE. Also, Jericho could have defended the Intercontinental Title against Booker T. But no, the WWE had to do something like this, which is stupid to do. By the way, that's coming from someone who's thought that 2002 was a pretty good year.

But maybe something will happen and the IC belt wont go away. And I wonder if the Honky Tonk Man heard about this,he'll be really pissed off.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I think they should have kept the Euro and Hardcore titles...or two of the titles they killed off anyway. With the bigger rosters and the split shows you'd think they'd want to keep them around.

Cause you know guys like Steven Richards and Tommy Dreamer and Chavo Guerrero will never win a world title, you gotta give the lower beings something, dammit.

Belts are not a bad thing...they're a reason to feud...the shows are going to get a little more boring if they need to make up feuds on storyline alone, where's the motivation for matches?

I know I'm just a mark for this...but I use to love hearing "FOUR TITLES WILL BE ON THE LINE TONIGHT!"...

As someone whose had some of his biggest mark out moments come from that title I think it'sa huge mistake to see it go.

The I-C kind of became a joke last year but I think RVD and Eddy did a great job in elevating it and making it seem important.

I didn't care for the HC title but I was upset seeing the Euro title go.

Vince is just testing my patience it seems. What with BookDust jobbing in Houston, Big Show v. Jeff Hardy Part II and all the other shit in RAW- it's almost as if he's making sure I find no reason to watch.

I hope they come to their senses soon cause I do not want to see the IC title go anytime soon

I really hope they don't go thru with merging the IC and World titles. As several people above me have stated, there needs to be a mid-card title for people who never have a shot at being a World champion to contend for. Hell, with Triple Ego basically stroking himself week after week with the World title, the IC title is more important than ever if you ask me. I say let them wrestle to a draw and thus further elevate the IC title's importance. Tag and Women's title matches aren't going to fill the void left behind if the IC title is eliminated.

yeah Kane wins and becomes World, IC, and tag champ all at the same time.

then the writers will put over the importance by

1) having Kane do a kaneroonie

2) then do impressions for 10 minutes

3) then hand all the titles to HHH, then join him for no apparent reason

BUT before Kane joined HHH he'd have to take the "Finger Poke of Doom"...then JR would give away results to the NWA show THAT VERY NIGHT "Jerry Lynn wins the world title...that'll put some asses in the seats"

What the hell is the WWE doing? Ok, first they get rid of the hardcore title, and now, they are getting rid of the IC title. What the hell?? It is funny though, Y2J had the IC belt for like 2 seconds, and now Kane is an IC/Tag Champ.

RAW

-World Champ: HHH (I AM REAL excited now. HHH vs x)

-Women's Belt: Well, only women can fight for the title.

-Tag Belts: Well, Kane/Cane are champs, then the other comp for them....Rosey and Jamal. And they cut the worst promo ever.

"We aren't letting anyone get in our way!!"

"If someone gets in our way, watch out, for the 3 Minute Warning!"

That was the most forced, bland promo I have ever seen!!!
