Guest ShooterJay Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 While discussing prospects for an Ultimo Dragon debut in WWE, a bunch of guys in the puro forum have said that Noble hasn't done too well despite being cruiserweight champ, never appearing on PPV and never winning outside of the cruiserweight division. Personally, I think Noble has done incredibly well given what he has to work with. He defends the title often, and wins his title matches cleanly and convincingly. He is NEVER put against non-cruiserweight opponents (as far as I can remember) and thus isn't the joke a lot of the cruisers are. The pairing with Nidia has worked extremely well, and Nidia is showing she isn't the embarassment Gayda and Miles are in this role-she's earning her TE contract. This is one case where the valet is making the wrestler more over, something that hasn't happened in the last few instances, (Terri-anybody, Stacy-anybody, Torrie actually made Tajiri LESS over). The "Redneck Messiah" character actually covers for his lack of mic skills and gives him a great personality. Noble actually has the most character development of any cruiser, the "I need the belt so I won't be poor again" is a fantastic character that could easily be turned face if needed. That WWE hasn't developed him further or put more emphasis on this facet of his character sucks. Noble has the best command of chain wrestling of any WWE wrestler save Regal, and his finishers, the Tiger Bomb and the Trailer Hitch, are more credible-looking than, for example Chris Jericho's. If the WWE gave his matches the slightest bit of hype and developed his character just a smidge more, he could become a solid upper-midcard player in a year or two, at least IC... well, up there, you know what I mean? What do you guys think of Noble's status so far? P.S. Isn't it funny how the least heralded of the WCW cruiserweights (remember Noble as the masked Jung Dragon?) ended up being the biggest star besides Hurricane? Moore- never amount to anything. Kidman- ditto. Karagias- gone. Yang- in TNA. Hayashi-back to Japan.
Guest bob_barron Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Noble rules!!! Him and Nidia are hilarious together and I love the Tajiri-Noble pairing. His match v. Kidman at Vengeance was very good and I'd like to see Rey v. Noble. They've done well so far with Noble
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Noble definatately knows how to put together a match, even bring out the A Material for a PPV match. Noble vs Kidman. Noble busted out Total In Ring Psychology, with his Single arm DDT, once in ring, second on the floor, then slapping on a Cross arm breaker and Fujiwar Armbar, and just working the Hell out of it. If I blinked I'd think it was Shinjiro ripping kidman's arm away from him and beating him with it
Guest Ravenbomb Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Noble's still the Cruiserweight champ? Damnit, I wanna get Smackdown!!!
Guest MaxPower27 Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Noble's one of the most underrated talents in the WWE right now. His matches are great psychology-wise, his bumps are great, and his selling is excellent. I wish he could get more TV time, because he could be a force, if they let him be. I'm proud to look like Jamie Noble.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Noble has done a tremendous job as the Crusier Champ. His matches are always entertaining and that's all you can ask for in this day and age.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Knoble is incredibly entertaining the ring. His matches are great I think. Although his fake accent is highly annoying. lol
Guest MaxPower27 Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 His TV accent is his real accent turned up a notch
Guest Celtic Jobber Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 A fictional conversation between Triple H and Jamie Noble, based on what probably happened to Lance Storm; Jamie Noble: Killer sleeperhold man! Triple H: Fuck off kiss-ass! "Hey Stephanie; this Jamie Noble guy has a smart mouth on him, make him job to Mark Henry on Velocity for 3 months"
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 I like Jamie Noble a lot better then I thought I would, I was not overly impressed with him in WCW and when he did the redneck thing the first night in I didn't think much of it. He's definatly one of my favorites in the WWE right now, any time he gets on the mic I'm ready to laugh. "Lookie here Baybee! We got us a real life Superhero." "We ain't gonna mess with Tazz, he's one of dem 'street thugs.'" And Nida is working out 100 times better then I thought she would...I've actually gone on to like her character, and from what I read she seems determined to improve on her stuff every week watching matches and whatnot...unlike other Tough Enough female winners.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 When he debuted as part of the stupid Hurricane/Nidia love triangle non-sense, I hated him When he debuted as a red neck I thought it was equally stupid When he defeated cruiserweight mainstay Hurricane for the title, I thought that was lame But he's since grown on me and I think he's one of the better characters on Smackdown. When he actually does have a match on SD, it's usually very good. I liked his match against Shannon Moore and was really surprised to see him go over cleanly in that match. It's also nice to see a wrestler with a number of different finishing moves. Noble proved me wrong as he's a definite keeper and one of the many reasons why SD is superior to RAW. Most of all, isn't it nice to see someone with some personality in the cruiser division for once?
Guest notJames Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 As soon as I saw Noble perform his first Dynamite Kid-esque snap suplex (complete with initial lifting of one leg), I knew he was cool. As soon as I saw his little Atlantic City vignette about not wanting to be poor anymore, I knew was gold. I just wish they had more guys to throw at him so he could defend his belt on Smackdown every week, instead of being in mixed tags and playing shit disturber for Nidia.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Personally, i love the guy, but i still think he only debuted so Lawler could make Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel/ Redneck jokes Nidia, yowza and she took over from say, everyone else as my number one babe in the WWE
Guest Ravenbomb Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 but i still think he only debuted so Lawler could make Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel/ Redneck jokes well then it's a good thing he debuted after the split then, huh?
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I agree. I like him a lot as well. He is one of the most entertaining guys that I get to watch from the Smackdown brand. Then again, I only get Velocity. Nidia complements him well, and is doing her job perfectly. He's better than 80% of the WWE roster.. that's both RAW & Smackdown.. in my eyes.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 It didn't take long for Knoble to become one of my favorites. He's got a funny "Trailer Trash" character (I still love the promo where he made a big deal to Nidia about having running water) and puts on consistently entertaining matches. That being said though... I'd like to see him on Smackdown more often, since if he's on the show he's usually on early and I miss him.
