Greetings from under the black 200X Resistol hat from an Oklahoma Sooners fan who is coming off one hellacious week and is very concerned about my Sooners' trip to Missouri tomorrow night in Columbia.

Injury update:

An MRI revealed that Bob "Hardcore" Holly has a ruptured disc in his neck that will require surgery and will probably put Holly on the shelf for approximately six months. More info will be known later today or early this evening as Bob is down in San Antonio today consulting with Dr. Lloyd Youngbood about the situation. Apparently Bob had a preexisting injury that was aggravated in his match a couple of weeks ago with Brock Lesnar. Bobby is a tough S.O.B. and this is damn sure a back run of luck for him, but he will work through it, as always, and we will be ready for him when he gets back to 100 percent.

Randy Orton separated his shoulder during his two matches on RAW and consulted with a specialist in St. Louis this week. Tests are being done, including an MRI, to determine why he is having chronic shoulder issues at this point of his career. Randy will also be evaluated by Dr. Jim Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., soon and Dr. Andrews will perform the surgery if it is necessary. Randy is obviously unbooked this weekend and his return to the road and to TV in the ring will depend on the results of the tests.

Mark Henry received a CAT scan on his ankle Thursday by Dr. Andrews' staff and surgery at this time is being discouraged. Dr. Andrews wants Mark to do two weeks of therapy and then get reexamined.

Agent Dave Hebner has had two surgeries on his knee and is back in the hospital in Richmond, Va., for another procedure after traveling to Birmingham last week to be examined by Dr. Andrews.

Kurt Angle has been diagnosed with a hyperflex of his elbow but is reportedly improving somewhat and will not miss his bookings but will also not be 100 percent.

Rob Van Dam is working through a hand sprain.

Rey Mysterio is getting an MRI today to check out his knees. He has been performing with two sore knees.

Undertaker's hyperextended elbow is not getting any better and will require surgery in the future. Until then he will continue to work a reduced schedule of TVs and the No Mercy Pay-Per-View along with the upcoming international tour.

Bubba Ray Dudley seems to have bounced back from the pinched nerve issue he had a week or so ago. Still not 100 percent but close.

Kanyon hopes to be released to return to work next week and then will begin in-ring training and conditioning. Our plan is for Chris to work in Ohio Valley Wrestling until he is 100 percent and the creative staff is ready for his return.

Maven hopes to be released from doctor's care for his ankle around Oct. 22 but that remains to be seen. Maven will also report to OVW once he is cleared to get back in the ring.

Sean O'Haire is recovering from a torn abdominal muscle and will be out at least three more weeks.

Bradshaw is rehabilitating his torn biceps and dropped by Houston's RAW to say hello to everyone. He'll be doing a ton of international promotion for us in the upcoming weeks.

Chris Nowinski's jaw surgery was successful, and he is progressing well. He is still slated to be out of commission up to six weeks.

Kevin Nash continues to rehab his torn quad aggressively and has set a goal to return to the ring by the Royal Rumble, but that would be a photo finish based on the severity of his injury.

Jazz will be back to 100 percent in December.

Lita debuts on MTV's HEAT this Sunday night and will continue to make a variety of appearances for the company while she heals from neck surgery. We hope to have her back in the ring in May of next year.

Rhyno looks to be on target for an early December return to the ring after neck surgery.

Scotty 2 Hotty's neck surgery was on May 7, and Scotty is expected to be out of action for one year as a result. He will continue to make appearances for the company while he rehabs.

We obviously have many outstanding talents on our injured list and I often wonder how much better things would be if we had our full compliment of talent 100 percent healthy. One of the media's biggest misconceptions is that "wrestlers don't get hurt" which is another one of the press' uninformed views of what these talented athletes endure in their professional lives.

Random thoughts and opinions ...

It is totally NOT true that Hollywood Hulk Hogan has been working without a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. No one works on TV or in house shows without the proper paperwork, and that includes Hogan, who signed a contract, which is still in effect, in January 2002. Also, my guts tell me we have not seen the last of Hulk in a WWE ring but, of course, I could be wrong.

David Flair has been released from our developmental program and will soon be making a two-month tour of England. Upon his return we hope to book him in some matches at WWE events to evaluate his progress. We are encouraging David to also work a tour or two in Japan as we feel it will help him develop his skills. David has a strong work ethic and is an outstanding young man but has two of the biggest shoes to fill of anyone I know being the son of the legendary Ric Flair.

The Un-Americans look to be regrouping after Monday's RAW and this weekend William Regal and Lance Storm will team to see how well they do together. Both these men are bright and I feel can make a solid tag team. Not sure of the creative direction for Christian and Test, either, but being repackaged might be the best for them. Too bad the Un-American presentation went south as I felt it had potential and is now a lost opportunity for the wrong reasons.

Boise, Idaho, looks to be close to a sellout tonight as Torrie Wilson makes her return to her home area tonight in a Bra & Panties contest with Dawn Marie. By the way, Torrie's dad was not played by a Les Thatcher lookalike on SmackDown! It was actually her real father.

Chris Jericho is not booked on tonight's Boise event nor has he ever been but someone will probably see that he was not there and create another imaginative "sources say" tall tale.

House show business is still soft overall but we are seeing some positive signs of life for the future and our hardworking live event marketing reps are trying some new concepts to promote these events. One thing I can say, and I have said it before, is that our Superstars, by and large, work just as hard before a smaller crowd as they do in front of a sellout. Our fans, hopefully, will always get their money's worth when they attend a WWE live event, which has not always been the case in our business (often times Turner's WCW was an embarrassment with some of their road shows).

The Diva shoot out in Chandler, Ariz., seems to be going well as the first group there will be finishing their session tomorrow when the second group begins their photo/video shoot. Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Stacy Keibler and Terri finish tomorrow.

I was completely blown away at how hard Trish and Victoria competed Monday night on RAW and came away even more impressed with them and all the ladies of WWE. When we get everyone back from injury, we are going to have the ability to really do extraordinary things with this aspect of our talent roster. However, we need to continue to scout and recruit more athletic females to join our team. Adding talented female athletes to our roster is a priority for the talent relations department.

Many of us thought RAW made some positive steps Monday night and, as I have said here many times before, we have to take it one show at a time. This Monday's event live from Las Vegas, RAW Roulette, needs to be better than our Houston event, and so on. One show at a time with the proper balance of to-the-point talk and solid in-ring action. Sounds simple, but it is not. Many of our talents are being asked to evaluate their in-ring style and technique with the hopes of improving -- as we all can, no matter who -- and as this continues to happen our in-ring presentation will improve, which helps everything. RAW needs more talents to seize the moment, as many on SmackDown! have, and open some eyes with their overall physical performances. This is not an indictment on work ethic or desire of the RAW talents, nor should it be made so, but simply that opportunities are being presented to many talents who need to realize that others in the on-deck circle or outside the company would give anything to be in the same position. This is not simply a talent issue as many areas of the company influence the growth and success of our product, especially on TV. I firmly believe that our RAW broadcasts have not deserved to receive some of the over-the-top criticism I have read, but we do have to make them better and we are working as hard as possible to do just that.

SmackDown! had another strong broadcast from Lafayette, La. (good thing this show is taped with Hurricane Lili roaring through Louisiana within hours of our departing). Some of the talents on SmackDown! are, seemingly, having some of the best matches of their careers over the past several weeks and that is great to see. Perhaps the folks from RAW should contemplate making a trade of the blockbuster variety with their SmackDown! counterparts?!

Chris Benoit will soon be traveling to Edmonton to do media for our upcoming live event there -- Chris' hometown -- on Saturday, Oct. 12, when Benoit challenges Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

Rosey and Jamal did a pretty solid job in their first official match on RAW but both of them, especially Rosey, have to drop some pounds and increase their aggressiveness to reach main-event status, in my view. These issues have been thoroughly discussed with both these talents, who are each trying to comply. We sure need for them to make it to the next level and, as always, time will tell.

We are looking forward to getting the Tough Enough 3 group of Al Snow, Bill DeMott and Ivory back on TV and on the road. Ivory will probably head to RAW long-term while it looks as if DeMott will be a SmackDown! talent. The jury is still out on Al Snow (I personally think he is innocent, but evidence may indicate otherwise) but he will definitely find a home on one of the rosters probably toward the end of October and soon after Lima, Ohio, is renamed Snow, Ohio, which sure sounds better than Head, Ohio. It would be good to see Al on RAW as I feel he is an excellent "live television" talent.

No Mercy on Pay-Per-View from Little Rock, Ark., on Sunday, Oct. 20, has a couple of strong headliners in Lesnar vs. Undertaker, Hell in a Cell, which I think will be Lesnar's first Cage Match, and Triple H vs. Kane, winner take all. This is our first Pay-Per-View in Little Rock and will be held at the beautiful ALLTEL Arena with great seats still available.

Certainly the planned elimination of the Intercontinental Title has been met with mixed reviews by some fans. The thinking is that the fewer the titles the more the existing titles mean. There is a happy balance to reach but in theory having fewer titles making them all mean more seems to make sense.

I have been working overtime to finish the stories for our upcoming cookbook and plan on having them finished ahead of deadline, which is Oct. 15. Our team of my wife Jan, along with Dennis and Lynn Brent, have been putting in tons of extra hours to meet the deadline of Oct. 1 for the recipe portion of the book, and they were right on schedule! I think you are really going to enjoy some of the stories, as have those within the company who read rough drafts.

I am plenty worried about the Sooners trip to Columbia, Mo., this Saturday night, not only because Mizzou is much improved and has a 3-1 record but because OU plays Texas in Dallas next week, and if that is where their mind is tomorrow night we are in big-time trouble. The spread is OU favored by 13 1/2, which is insane.

RAW Roulette is slated live for Las Vegas on Monday from the Thomas & Mack Center; the stipulations for every match will be determined by the spin of the wheel! This will be "feast or famine," as it always is as it relates to "gimmick" matches, but one thing is for sure: RAW, LIVE, will be an adventure! Could be a train wreck or one of the most entertaining and exciting shows we have done in a long time. Will be an interesting ride from Vegas. Bet on it!

Take care...

YOU HOSS LOVING OKLY HICK! It doesn't Make sense at all if you have a Expanded Roster! When you got maybe 30 guy roster then you can have 3 titles, but when you got 60 + stretched out on two Shows you DON'T eliminate belts or you Gurantee Complete Burial of most of the guys YOU PERSONALLY Hired You VP of Talent Relations. But hell Who cares about the History of the IC belt, nor the advantages it would give to Wrestlers you would NEVER Push to the World title, Which will be the only Singles title left.

I wonder if that had anything to do with Lesnar's botched powerbomb. Oh well, serves Holly right for being a no-selling pile of shit.

Booker T really does need to move to Smackdown. He would do so much better on that show.

Regal is probably better off in a tag situation. I dug the work he and Nowinski did (though got sick of seeing the SAME DAMN MATCH week after week). Honestly though, if they are dropping the UnAmericans thing, why not reunite Storm with Credible. At least you could play off ECW history, rather than create a new team from scratch. Christian could be great in the "instigator" heel role, and Test, well...he'll probably wind up feuding with Jeff Hardy until they find something for him to do.

Too bad they gave up on the UnAmericans gimmick. I also think part of the reason for breaking them up is due to this "New Horsemen" rumor, and that they don't want two heel stables on the same show (3 if you count Eric's guys).

1. Holly, just retire. You've been out for over a year with injuries and now you are out for another 6 months. Your just hurting yourself.

2. That's a surprise. I thought he would be out for at least 3 months.

3. Yay for Kanyon. I'm looking forward to seeing him again.

4. Benoit jobs to Lesnar. Yay. I actually think they could have a good match with Lesnar heel and Benoit face. Stiff as hell, but a good match.

5. The HHH belt should be eliminated. Not the IC you fat fuck.

6. Fuck you.

Man I really hate JR.

Can't wait for Rhyno to come back and kill some people with his spear.

First they eliminate the Chuck/Billy gimmick then the UnAmericans. They need to stick with something for longer than a couple months before they evalute it.

I think its good the unamericans gimmick is gone. We could be going to war with Iraq soon, and god forbid there is another terrorist attack and these poor guys have this gimmick. Let them get repackaged now rather than be forced to later while the WWE gets bad press.

JR why must there be T&A on Raw/Smackdown EVERY week? Can't we please get a serious women's push? They put more effort into it than two of your "lockerroom leaders".

Out of the original Un-Americans lineup, only Lance really did a good job of conveying their anti-american sentiment. Christian and Test just seemed to be going through the motions. Regal has played the anti-american card for years and doing a good job at it. I think it's a good move. Christian and Test just didn't seem motivated to push those characters forward.

The best part of the Ross Report is when he tries to smooth out the horrible RAW show.

Many of us thought RAW made some positive steps Monday night and, as I have said here many times before, we have to take it one show at a time.

I like how he says "I have said many times before" indicating that many previous shows have been bad and that this 'one show at a time' thing just ain't workin. Baby Steps I guess eh Jimbo? Of course, he really should mention they are BABY ANT STEPS!

This Monday's event live from Las Vegas, RAW Roulette, needs to be better than our Houston event, and so on. One show at a time with the proper balance of to-the-point talk and solid in-ring action. Sounds simple, but it is not.

Oh, but it is simple. 5 Max minute promos. 10 Min minute matches. Smackdown does it well, and it didn't take them a billion shows to get it right.

Many of our talents are being asked to evaluate their in-ring style and technique with the hopes of improving -- as we all can, no matter who -- and as this continues to happen our in-ring presentation will improve, which helps everything.

He is talking about everyone who is NOT a Mcmahon, or himself and lawler, of course. JR continues to suck as a commentator, how bout he listens to himself for a chance bah gawd?

As for 're-evalutating' - throw out the shit, keep the good. It *is* that simple. Whoever has the 'bad style' that makes 'bad matches' you get rid of. Meanwhile, whoever has the 'good style' that makes the 'good matches' you keep. Of course, big show, jeff hardy, hhh, ric flair, et al would have to go and that can't happen.

RAW needs more talents to seize the moment, as many on SmackDown! have, and open some eyes with their overall physical performances.

They are allowed to wrestle and they do - it's a neat lil thing they got goin on over d'er.

This is not an indictment on work ethic or desire of the RAW talents, nor should it be made so,

Sure it should. Raw sucks. Try harder to make it good. I guess it's not "that simple".

but simply that opportunities are being presented to many talents who need to realize that others in the on-deck circle or outside the company would give anything to be in the same position.

And meanwhile, Test, Kane, and Big Show get push, after push, after push and guys like Low Ki are being told that their 'bad style' (which somehow produces 'good matches') won't be able to cut it in the 'big' leagues.

This is not simply a talent issue as many areas of the company influence the growth and success of our product, especially on TV.

I love how the 'Wrestling show' with 'wrestlers' on smackdown is being successful (at least critically) while the 'Entertainment show' with the 'entertainers' is being shot down to hell. It's fun cause it goes against everything Mcmahon thinks is wrestling.

I firmly believe that our RAW broadcasts have not deserved to receive some of the over-the-top criticism I have read, but we do have to make them better and we are working as hard as possible to do just that.

Not hard enough. The criticism is more than warranted. Get rid of the old, let in the new. Smackdown had Rey vs Benoit and Edge vs Angle - what can Raw do now? But I cry for Ross for all this unwarranted criticism... i really really do...

Line of the Report:

Our fans, hopefully, will always get their money's worth when they attend a WWE live event, which has not always been the case in our business (often times Turner's WCW was an embarrassment with some of their road shows).

YES! Even when the company is dead the Wwf is still going on with the "at least we ain't them" strategy! BRILLIANT! Fuck Ross, be a man. Admitting your faults is the first step in fixing them. Fan loyalty is not created by bait and switch.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

this was a fairly amusing Ross report, especially that page and a half about he didn't really think the Raw guys weren't trying, he just thinks they suck.

but it can't beat last week's:

JR: Bob Holly's neck is a little sore after being dropped on his head this week

Some smartass poster: Wow, JR, what happened? Did he get hit by a bull?

Oh that reminds me: please retire Bob Holly. When you're being funny, you are tolerable. when you're being serious, you get dropped on your head, and people are cheering.

That probably sums it up nicely. I guess most of the heat Vince had with the UnAmercians was with Test and Christian and not Storm since they already found another role for him. I wouldn't be surprised if Christian and/or Test ended up being in a hair match Monday night after all. Or some kind of match designated to humiliate and punish them for arguing with Vince.

Who is J.R. talking about in his latest "Raw is getting better rant?" The problem with RAW has never been lack of effort. The problem has been the goal of the show is to keep Triple H happy, not keep the fans happy. But instead of blaming the creative team or blaming politics, the guys who go out there and bust their asses each night knowing they'll never get a chance to get over get blamed for the show sucking. Way to boost the locker room morale, J.R. I guess Triple H will have to call another locker room meeting and bitch out all the other wrestlers for not living up to his standards.
