WWE Backstage Notes: Kane/Murder Angle, Terry Taylor

Posted By Ashish on 10.16.02

-Most of the WWE locker room thought the Kane murderer angle that was heavily featured on RAW this past Monday was very bad. Of course, Vince McMahon and the creative team also need to think it was bad before changes are made.

Fortunately, the atmosphere at WWE is very open to criticizm. I am sure respectful complaints about the angle will result in it quietly getting it killed without punishment for the person who spokle up.

I also think HHH really would have saved WCW.

I also think that Mark Henry is a great wrestler.

I also think I need some more crack.

What a surprise. The lockerroom thinks the angle was bad because it is bad.

How long does it take them to find out PPV Buy Rates?

I just do not get how anyone could think it was good. I was watching with my roommates and when HGH mentioned semen they fled the room like someone tossed CS gas in there. I really have a hard time remembering a ME angle that made me cringe so much.

Heh, I wonder if this is why Kane has been allowed to beat on half the roster.

"Vince, I just don't think anything good can come from a rape/murder angle."

"Well, thanks for your input. By the way, we need you to run into the main event tonight and get chokeslammed."

Maybe when No Mercy draws the lowest PPV buyrate in a long time they'll learn...........wait, no, no they won't.

A LONG time. WO released the latest WM "estimate" just last week. The only other buyrate revealed from this year was Backlash.

It seems when the number looks to be atrocious it takes longer or doesn't come out at all. We have YET to see any numbers for the last two PPVs of 2001.

Taker was quoted saying

"I'm not feeling it."

I'm sure that godawful promo had nothing to do with it...more full of "umm...ahh" than a third grade book report. I'm sure it was on purpose..but it killed the promo in my mind. I was waiting for a heel turn..."yeah, I killed her...so what?" and the like.

Management: Taker you will job to Brock cleanly so a new star can be created?

Taker: I'm not feeling it.

Management: Okay how about a screwjob win for Lesnar so he can gain momentum and you not lose any heat?

Taker: I'm not feeling it.

Mangement: How about you get "injured" beforehand thus are not at 100% and lose to Brock without losing your cred?

Taker: I'm not feeling it.

Management: How about you get "injured" then lose via screwjob to Lesnar because you will be leaving soon to heal and take care of your wife and kid anyway?

Taker: I'm not feeling it.

Management(To HHH): HHH how do you feel about accusing Kane of murder and necrophilic rape?

HHH: I'm feeling it.

 best promo ever.

In breaking news, Vince has been having one on one meetings with members of the Raw locker room for "Voluntary eye removal".

I liked the angle at first. Then when Trips came out with that you fucked her thing, I lost interest. Another fine example of the writers and creative team fucking up a good angle.

I liked this murder angle up until this past Monday on RAW, when HHH said that Kane had sex with Katie Vick. That, right there, was where the angle was killed, and I sure as hell hope the WWE doesn't draw this angle out any longer.

What if there really is such a person as Katie Vick? I would see this as ground for suing over a character. It's America so you know that it could happen if someone was greedy enough. Whoever thought of this needs to be shot several times for putting us through this.

What if this Katie had sex with a guy named Glen Jacobs? Oooooh.

To those saying that it takes forever to get PPV buyrates... you're wrong. They can get estimates immediately and they just get more and more accurate as time goes on.

As for buyrates this year, I e-mailed Meltzer recently and got them all the way up through King of the Ring. They are:

late 2001:

Survivor Series 1.1

Vengeance 0.7

2002:

Rumble 1.6

No Way Out 1.1

Wrestlemania 1.6

Backlash 0.8

Judgement Day 0.7

King of the Ring 0.6

Jeff, This raw didn't kill it. It was stillborn.

Funny how WWE was drawing better with Jericho as the champion. Of course, Austin and Rock were around for every PPV, I think.

It can be argued that the first buyrate was based on HHH's in-ring return and the second was based on the nWo... then again, that's VINCE'S reasoning.

Well, this is all news to me with the exception of two, and they all seem to be very rough estimates since they're all rounded to only one decimal place.

0.7 for Judgment Day... *snicker*... 0.6 for King of the Ring.. AHAHAHAHA!!!

You'd THINK someone during the "creative" meeting of the minds this past week would have had the guts to stand up and say, "Welllll, Kane didn't even talk until 1999ish . . . Plus, he was locked up by Paul Bearer until 1997 . . . Plus, did Kane wear a mask at this party? Wasn't Kane still a virgin? Would alcohol REALLY affect a guy like Kane?" Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Does anyone think it's ironic that Kane's character became completely unraveled on the same day as Paul Bearer's WWE contract ran out? Kinda weird.

What? someone thought this was a bad idea? no way!

The next storyline will have Big Show's dad coming back to wrestle Booker T...

or if they really want a good ratings grabber...

HHH: Kane, You are a murderer!

Kane: I did it for the Rock....I did it for the people!

Oh god that Kane line of "I did it for you Rock, I did for the people" was hilarious. :o

WWE buyrate limbo--how low can they go?!

And seems like most of the viewers agree that Rumble and WM are the main ones to get.
