Guest Last Warrior Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Jericho to me seems to totally need about six minths off right now. I am a huge fan of his and still really enjoy him but nothing he does right now seems to be getting over. We see Kane go away and get a monster (no pun intended) pop when he comes back, even though he is murdurously (pun fully intended) bad. Now if someone like Jericho had around 4-6 months off, he could fully get over injuries and the fans would really take to him again when he came back. What do you think?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I think he needed it more last year when he was getting sloppy in the ring and continually blowing spots. You can't blame a guy for being pushed wrong. He just has to wait it out. Look at Angle. I don't think he ever did wrong but a while back he was feuding with John Cena and a bunch of other low card guys. Now he's in with Benoit and Los Guerreros. I just think they need to use Jericho properly for him to excel.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 When is the last time Jericho took time off? I can't remember him taking any off since he entered the WWF.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 It would probably do him good to take a couple months off...most guys argue that when you take that much time off you "lose your spot" (unless you're nailing the bosses daughter)...but for Jericho I don't think that'd be a big deal, if you know what I mean.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Jericho would definatly lose his spot if he took a break. Those ring crew guys are a dime a dozen.
Guest Last Warrior Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I dont nescessarily think that he would lose his spot if he went away. What with the RAW roster being so thin, he would be guarenteed a upper mid card to main event spot. The fans would also take to him more if he was a fresh face again. He would be a main event face who could define raw the way benoit and angle havedefined smackdown. it would be great for the company.
Guest mach7 Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Time off might be an answer to one of Jericho's problems... his bitterness. I love his work, but holy crap I don't thinK I've ever seen anyone as bitter as he is since Bret Hart.
Guest jester Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I don't think they'd allow him to take off now, unless it was for an injury.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I don't really think Jericho has taken any time off since he arrived in the WWE. So, with that being said, I think Jericho does deserve a couple months off. Then, he could return as a fresh, main event face, which would be good to see.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Didn't he take a week off when he took HHH's dog Lucy to the vet? That's more than enough time off. Slacker.
Guest Brian Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Didn't he take a week for his wedding?
Guest Zero_Cool Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Not sure, I do know they gave him a week off to fetch lotion for Stephanie, but meh, I don't know. Maybe have him get injured IC, and give a couple of months off. Then, have him appear out of nowhere in an episode of RAW, and judging by the reaction he got back when he debuted in 99, they could easily turn him into a main event face.
Guest Brian Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I swear what he needs is a face turn and some character direction, and I think they're trying to get an Edge/Christian vibe from the tag team win, as odd as that sounds, so that Jericho can turn and Christian can get some momentum that he never really had.
Guest the pinjockey Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Jericho did not take off during the Lucy shit, he was over in Japan. Remember how everyone was up in arms because they booked a Japan tour a week before the big WM buildup was supposed to begin. At this point I am hoping for a Jericho face turn and dreading it at the same time. Jericho is a mega-over face so it could rejuvenate him some but eventually as a face he runs into the HHH wall again.
Guest Last Warrior Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 If he did get over as main event face again and then subsequently hts the HHH barrier again, i swear to God i will stop watching wrestling. A main event face Jericho is what raw ultimately needs. he can have a good match with anyone, is extremely marketable and great on the mic. If he was 6 inches taller he would be the complete package. however he is not six feet taller and so never expect to see him with the title again.
Guest godthedog Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 jericho needs to quit his damn band and focus on WRESTLING, that's the problem. there's a direct correlation between the amount of work he does on fozzy and the degree to which he dogs it in the ring.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I think he and Christian should play the roles of cheating bastard tag team for a month or two, and build to a big BookerDust victory.
Guest gthureson Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 however he is not six feet taller and so never expect to see him with the title again. Six feet taller? Man, if Jericho was 11'11", I don't think they could keep the title off of him. He'd be like this freakishly huge, charismatic juggernaut. Nah, all Jericho needs to do is lose the lifts. I know he wears them so there is a better height match up with the hosses, but honestly? He seems to be awkward in the ring with them on.
Guest Smark Hammill Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 The problem is that he was pushed wrong. If they pushed him as the annoying yet funny heel that he was in WCW when he first debuted, then later on down the road once he got over (and he would have been over) turned him face into his Y2J character, then who knows? He may be beyond the point of a character overhaul because the stupid WWF has screwed with him and his character so much.
