Guest FeArHaVoC Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Vince & Stephanie McMahon Happy With RAW; Locker Room Heavily Prefers Smackdown Believe it or not, reports have it that both Vince and Stephanie McMahon were very happy with how RAW came off this past Monday, and thought it was a great show. The show focused on the Kane/Katie Vick murder angle. Almost everyone else in WWE, however, feels that Smackdown is hands down the best WWE show right now in every aspect. Almost everyone would apparently prefer to work for Smackdown right now due to the fact that Pau Heyman (head of Smackdown) is doing a better job of building characters and angles compared to Brian Gerwertz (head of RAW) who seems more obsessed with creating an "entertainment" program that, to this point, has not worked. Guest Paranoid Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Too bad everyone else thought that Waterworld was more entertaining!! The murder storyline totally made me lose interest. They could have come up with something better I think. Anyway, when the ratings are up Vince is usually happy, no matter how bad the show actually was.
Guest NoCalMike Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Well naturally, the McMahons are so bias towards an "entertainment" brand show, even if the entertainment is pure crap. How long until Heyman is fired due to "differeing ideologies" or something lame like that.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I just commented about this in another thread. Of course Vince loved RAW, since it was full of Bret allusions. As for Steph - well, we all know who the focal point of RAW is... Yeah, RAW got the same rating as they did last week, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, ratings are only 1/3 of the equation - attendance is another third of it and they're having a BIG problem with that at the moment.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I give up. What's the point of bitching and disagreeing with the product when WWE won't listen? As long as Vince & Steph are happy, it's not going to change anytime soon. I swear, I wish I wasn't hooked on WRESTLING. I wanna stop watching, but I'm too hooked. Must be what Crackheads at rock bottom feel like?
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Maybe the McMahons enjoy partaking in some.....alternative lifestyles such as the one that was the focus of RAW...
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I REALLY want to try what Vince and Stephanie are smoking.....
Guest Last Warrior Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Vince is the wrestling genius. If he likes smackdown more then there must be a good reason f or it. Such as: *Better wrestling...no *Better Characters...no *Better Storylines...definately no *Better use of talent available to them...jericho in the midcard would suggest no *better tv attendances...no *better house show attendances...just *Stacy keibler in a thong...YES, YES, YES, Raw is obviously the better show and I think that that the stats above prove it.

Guest DJ Jeff Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I prefer RAW over Smackdown because it's live. That's the only thing that really ruins Smackdown is the spoilers. If Smackdown went live, then I'd have a hard time choosing what show I like. Also, I do prefer the sports entertainment aspect of the WWE, so that's another reason I prefer RAW over Smackdown.

So you'd rather watch crap live than a spoiled show that is good?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I swear, I wish I wasn't hooked on WRESTLING. I wanna stop watching, but I'm too hooked. Must be what Crackheads at rock bottom feel like? I hear you. That's why I spend about 5-10 hours a week watching old tapes. It makes me not care about the current product a lot easier.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 I use to do that too. But, you can only watch somethings so many times. I need to stop being cheap and buy a few new Shoots.
Guest franchise632 Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Yeah, RAW got the same rating as they did last week, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, ratings are only 1/3 of the equation - attendance is another third of it and they're having a BIG problem with that at the moment. Just so I can figure out where your comming from, what is the other third of this equation, we got 1/3 ratings, 1/3 attendance, 1/3 ? Im not trying to be a smart ass i just want to understand this. As far as the ratings being up .1, maybe that would be cause Vegas RAW wasnt that bad, until the end segment, thus there was a slight follow up for the next show, which has horrible viewing patterns that took a dive with the murder stuff. Lets see how the ratings are next week and see how Vince and Steph feel. Of course they will probably put out a decent show, ratings will be shitty (because of last week) and then they will say "see we try and do it the other way and the ratings drop, lets do so more rape and murder stuff."
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Blasted fools... And Franchise, I'm guessing the other third would be PPV buyrate.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 Yes, the third part would be PPV buyrates, which have steadily decreased since Wrestlemania.
Guest godthedog Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 i read somewhere that the increase was a statistical error, & that raw actually stayed at 3.8 (or whatever it was).
Guest Anglesault Posted October 17, 2002 Report Posted October 17, 2002 that Pau Heyman (head of Smackdown) is doing a better job of building characters and angles Well, I guess everyonce in a while you have to one that falls through the cracks.
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 How can someone like RAW when they are talking about Necros? What the the fuck?
Guest buffybeast Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I swear, I wish I wasn't hooked on WRESTLING. I wanna stop watching, but I'm too hooked. Must be what Crackheads at rock bottom feel like? Fear my brother, I feel the exact same way. If I know RAW is on tv for example, I just can't not watch it. It calls me. And when I am in class on Monday nights, I think of RAW. Even though I know the show sucks.
Guest NoCalMike Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I read Smackdown spoilers every week and still prefer it highly over Raw.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I used to hate spoilers, but now I read them all the time. As bad as the WWF has been lately, I don't want to waste my time on shows that are filled with crap. If the spoilers look good, then I watch the show.
Guest midnight_burn Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 Good to see the WWE is run by morons. I guess we can look forward to more necrophiliac rape, incest, amnesia angles and other such fun in the future if this is what Vince and Stephanie thinks makes for a good show.
Guest CanadianChris Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I guess we can look forward to more necrophiliac rape, incest, amnesia angles and other such fun in the future if this is what Vince and Stephanie thinks makes for a good show. BRING BACK LOST IN CLEVELAND!!
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 I like reading the spoilers more than I like actually watching Raw.
Guest Smark Hammill Posted October 18, 2002 Report Posted October 18, 2002 It's just once again more evidence that Vince McMahon has totally lost touch with the wrestling fanbase. It has slowly evolved this way. One thing that has NOT changed about Vince is that he still has a big man in the main event, no matter how awful and boring he is. But couple that with some stupid Russo-like, Attitude era crap, and you get Raw. Sadly, Vince probably thinks he's being "edgy" with this crap. It's more important to him to be "edgy" than it is to be entertaining. I used to take up for the guy, but no more. He's a moron.
