Guest MrRant Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 http://www.411mania.com/movies/news/articl...php?news_id=682 I didn't notice the topic cutoff but its Johnny Bravo he would be playing. Ugh.... I like Johnny Bravo.
Guest Kingpk Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Methinks ol' Dwayne ain't coming back to Vince anytime soon. I could see him as Johnny Bravo.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Hopefully, it will flat out BOMB, just like the Powerpuff Girls movie did. The Rock playing Johnny Bravo? You have gotta be kiddin me.
Guest Flyboy Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Hopefully, it will flat out BOMB, just like the Powerpuff Girls movie did. No need to take things personal, now!
Guest Kingpk Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Hopefully, it will flat out BOMB, just like the Powerpuff Girls movie did. The Rock playing Johnny Bravo? You have gotta be kiddin me. Wait, you actually WANT Rock back in WWE? The way they're going now, he'll have multiple personalities and have Coach play Timmy to his Tabitha.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Eh, I could go for another Round of HHH vs The Rock. It would be good just to hear the Rock make fun of HHH again and stuff. The Rock coming back, for longer than 1 1/2 whole months, would be good for the WWE, although at this point I think there would be a lot of initial indifference to his return..
Guest Kinetic Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I think Rock could do this well. I actually think he's better suited to doing really over-the-top, cheesy humor stuff than action films. We already know he can do a pretty decent Elvis impression and that's really half the battle with Johnny Bravo. I don't know that I'd pay money to see it, though. And, yeah, Rock isn't coming back to the WWE for any significant period of time until the box office numbers get soft. He has the choice of either pursuing a promising movie career or attempting in vain to anchor a sinking ship. Total no-brainer.
Guest razazteca Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 so will Coach die the day he finds out he got fired? as for The Rock as Johnny Bravo all I have to as is Whoa Mama..... And what is Greg Brady's opinion on this I can see John Goodman as Pops and Kathy Bates as Mama
Guest Ravenbomb Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 no way. Patrick Stewart'd be pops. He has just the right hair.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 The Rock could work as Bravo, but it's a dumb movie idea and he should probably stay away from it. Of course, a person can't do nothing BUT blockbusters their whole career. I think the Rock would play a good Punisher, either in a Spider Man movie or a standalone.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I think this is a great idea. Why? CAN'T YOU FEEL IT? I can feel it all coming back! The Rolex.. The loud $10,000 shirt... The heel heat. Please bring it back! Bring it all back!~
Guest Dangerous A Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 At the last SD tapings, it was reported that the fans booed the Rock and chanted Rocky Sucks when they aired his Scorpion King ad on the Tron. Judging from his reaction at Summerslam and the next night on Raw when they showed his image on the Tron and the MSG crowd booed and chanted Rocky Sucks, I think the wrestling fans have turned on the Rock. Maybe not everywhere, but enough that everyone notices. If the WWE fans aren't supportive of him, I think his movies will bomb. Scorpion King was considered a disappointment in terms of projected box office. The wrestling fans are the majority of the people going to go out to see his movies. I don't think the general public has warmed up to Rock as an actor who can carry a picture to commercial success on the level of Stallone or Swhartzenagger yet. Does he have the potential: yes. Is he there yet? No.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 TSK did reasonably well. I'm sure they were hoping to break 100 million, but given the other movies released at the time it held its own. I would be more inclined to called Ep. 2 a disappointment (did what, 100 million LESS than they were hoping for). It also avoided being a high-cost bomb like say, Bad Company or Ballistic. As for The Rock in wrestling, I think that when he comes back he should jump to RAW and turn heel. It would improve RAW a lot (adding him to Smackdown would just shift the scale towards that show even more), and he could team up with HHH as part of the "new horseman" angle. Corporate Rock and "nature boy" HHH would probably form a pretty good pairing to lead the show. The Rock could "sell out" to Bischoff to get on to RAW, making him even more of a heel and playing off the Hollywood angle.
Guest SP-1 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I think that the crowd turning on him would be a perfect catalyst for him to turn Heel. He returns, expecting a big ovation, the PEOPLE let him down, he gets angry about it and bingo: insta-heel. Works for me, gets heat because no crowd is going to want to take the total blame for someone turning, has the potential to be interesting if handled correctly (which means if Rock returns to RAW we'd better hope things have changed). But I have to say, I am AGAINST a HHH/Rock alliance, especially if the word "Horsemen" is involved. That said, I think Rocky is better suited to comedic roles as well. I liked him on SNL, generally. I wouldn't pay 8 bucks to see a Rocky-driven Johnny Bravo flick, mind you, but it may be cheap theater material with a crowd later on.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 . I think the Rock would play a good Punisher, either in a Spider Man movie or a standalone. Damn i thought i was the only one who felt that way
Guest Pop Culture God Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 You put this in the wrong forum. This is WWE. Look for "Shit we could care less about"
Guest evenflowDDT Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 It'd be funny to see a trailer with The Rock with the big blonde hair, but its a pretty popular opinion that cartoons don't translate well into live action. I don't see why this movie would be any different.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Uhm, isn't Johnny, like, White?
Guest Angle-plex Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Uhm, isn't Johnny, like, White? Racism! OMG OMG OMG!
Guest Pop Culture God Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Bruce Campbell should be Johnny Bravo. End. Of. Discussion.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 Uhm, isn't Johnny, like, White? Michael Clark Duncan is playing the Kingpin in the Daredevil movie, so I'd say this is just a minor difference...
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I think this is a great idea. Why? CAN'T YOU FEEL IT? I can feel it all coming back! The Rolex.. The loud $10,000 shirt... The heel heat. Please bring it back! Bring it all back!~ I'm for it too. Rock was SOOOOOOO much better as a heel then he is as a face. He could play off on his Hollywood sucess. Like if he blows a move, he could yell cut to the referee. The fans would loathe his new Hollywood-inspired ego. Btw, who else liked the Rock better as a heel?

Hell you know it's got to be funny. He probably won't be wrestling to much soon, which means the writing team is gonna have to step up...QUICK!
Guest Nater Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 I'd wanna see a movie based on Nicotrell. "Nobody talks to Nicotrell like that!!" its gold to me..
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted October 20, 2002 Report Posted October 20, 2002 NICOTRELL!!! Yes, Rock as Nicotrell OWNED SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE FOREVER. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
