Guest nikowwf Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 Hi Guys, I've watched wrestling a long time, but I was never a big WCW fan. I've never seen a Wargames. Could you describe to me what kind of match it is? I have a vague idea, but I don't know the rules exactly. Thanks Niko
Guest notJames Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 Okay... Two rings, one next to each other. A steel cage surrounds both rings with a roof over it, ala Hell in a Cell, only not as tall (8 or 9 feet above the ring maybe) and the fencing is flush with the ring border, as opposed to having some room on the floor. Two teams of four or five. One man from each team starts out in the cage. They fight for five minutes. Coin toss determines who's team gets to send in the next man. (Heels always win.) So the next man goes in and there's a two on one for five minutes. Then the other team gets to send in another man for another five minutes. This goes on, with one team always having an advantage over the other, until the sides even out. Once all men are in, this signals "The Match Beyond", where the winner is decided by "submission or surrender". Basically it's an all out brawl (usually) with a lot of blood and mayhem, innovative cage spots and double teams, and lots of blood. Did I mention lots of blood? Check out SKeith's rants on Bash '87, WrestleWar '91, and WrestleWar '92 for the best War Games. I remember renting the Best of Starrcade '83 to '87 video when I was a kid and just marvelling at the sickness of this match. Definitely a cool gimmick, but I don't see them doing this in the WW_.
Guest nikowwf Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 Thanks. I appreciate the answer. That would be cool for SS, but I'm getting more of a triple cage vibe or something russoesqe. niKO
Guest mach7 Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 I double it will be the three tier cage. I don't even think that was an elimination type match. Weren't there instances when War Games was an elimination match? Either way, my guess it will be the War Games type cage, with a bit of a twist to the actual rules of the match.
Guest notJames Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 Considering the current direction of RAW, this "Elimination Chamber" will probably involve a toilet and massive amounts of Ex-Lax. [Vince] And here comes Triple H! HE'S GONNA POOP! HE'S GONNA POOP!!! [/Vince]
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 ha. that's good stuff. The total pounds of crap produced divided by the number of contestants will determine the PPV's buyrate. I'm pretty sure this is going to be an elimination-style wargames, which, to my knowledge, has never been done before. They had a wargames once where the match could end at any time, which was unbelievably stupid, but this has a little bit of potential. Depends who they stick in it.
Guest starvenger Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 When I heard "elimination chamber", I thought of two things: - Survivor Series match under Wargames rules in HiaC, which would be pretty cool -OR- - The Triple Cage of Doom, which would likely suck.
Guest Paranoid Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 War Games was the best gimmick match that the wCw had. If they could bring that t the WWE then it would be awesome!
