Guest FeArHaVoC Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 On most Smackdown broadcasts, Michael Cole and Tazz have an earpiece with Jim Ross feeding them things to say. Vince McMahon does this on Raw for Ross and Lawler. From the Smackdown following No Mercy, there was some audio heard from Ross, and it yielded some interesting notes. Ross had Cole call the UT/Brock match one of the most violent matches in WWE history, but since the word 'violent' isn’t allowed, Cole substitured with intense and disturbing. In addition, Ross told Cole not to refer to Rey Mysterio as "Rey Rey" any more. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter -------------------------------------------------------------------------- With all the other crap they say on TV, what's wrong with "Violent?" Is Triple H the only one who is allowed to be Violent?
Guest Steve J. Rogers Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 This was seen on Beyond The Mat BTW I guess it might be a UPN thing with not saying violence, that is odd that they can't say it while I've heard that word on RAW dozens of times Steve
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 Also, what's wrong with calling Rey Mysterio "Rey Rey?" Cole & Tazz are finally sounding conformable and like their having a great time out there. They can joke with each other, but know when it's time to add the "Drama." Unlike Ross & Lawler who sound like idiots & Amateurs trying to Call a show.
Guest jester Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 Well now, this is interesting. McMahon feeding Lawler and JR = utter shit commentary that is rarely about the wrestling match anymore. JR feeding Cole and Tazz = commentary that has got a lot better in the past while. Could it be that without McMahon leaning over everyone, the show become more about wrestling and gets better on every level? Nah. Show us HHH humping another mannequin.
Guest areacode212 Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 Hmm...doesn't Marvinisalunatic get the Smackdown feed on Tuesdays? I wonder if we can get an MP3 of this online.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 I doubt he would get the feed from JR to Cole/Tazz on that broadcast
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 Also, what's wrong with calling Rey Mysterio "Rey Rey?" Sorry, but with the way Cole says it, it sounded on TV like he said "gaygay" or something. I don't know how Schiavone didn't slip up with that. Perhaps he enunciated better.
Guest areacode212 Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 I doubt he would get the feed from JR to Cole/Tazz on that broadcast The way the article comes off, it sounds like some of the JR audio slipped out on air somehow.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 Well, it is possible someone slipped a pocketable police scanner device in and used an earpiece, and caught onto JR's frequency.
Guest Redhawk Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 So they can say "Hot Lesbian Action," "Necrophilia," and "Red Devil," but they can't say "violent?" That's stupid.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 So they can say "Hot Lesbian Action," "Necrophilia," and "Red Devil," but they can't say "violent?" That's stupid. I dont think it can be said any better.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 I get Smackdown early but I get the "For TV Feed" of it so I didnt hear that. If I had the right satelite equipment I could get the "Live Taping Feed" for Smackdown like a couple of sites use for their spoilers. Every once in a while I can get the live RAW feed and you can hear JR pr Lawler talking to someone during the breaks but I couldn't hear who he was talking to..
Guest subliminal_animal Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 So they can say "Hot Lesbian Action," "Necrophilia," and "Red Devil," but they can't say "violent?" That's stupid. Ah, but they can't say "violent" on Smackdown. Raw is where the edginess is! And I don't believe they ever said necrophilia during that entire angle. Or am I wrong?
Guest notJames Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 ...I don't believe they ever said necrophilia during that entire angle. Or am I wrong? I can't vouch for SmackDown!, but JR made several mentions of "necrophilia", especially in the context of "We shouldn't be using the word 'necrophilia' in wrestling!" I love shoot comments that etc. etc. etc.
