Guest BoboBrazil Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 This week's edition of Smackdown did a 3.3 broadcast rating, with a 5 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down from last week's 3.7 and six share. 1wrestling.com
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 I know I didn't watch it, I was out partying. I think a lot of other people in the jkey demographic were too, or the younger set was out trick-or-treating. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 GOLDBERG GOLDBERG GOLDBERG
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 You COULD blame the holiday... OR you could blame the Big Show push
Guest converge241 Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 blame will fall to Edge-Benoit and Eddy-Angle and Rey Misterio for not knowing how to work. Rey will get especially blamed because he was well protected in the main event and the fans just didnt accept him
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 It's all Bischoff's fault for coming on Smackdown.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 You COULD blame the holiday... OR you could blame the Big Show push A little from Column A, a little from Coumn B. Although, probably more A than B.
Guest converge241 Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 "It's all Bischoff's fault for coming on Smackdown. " AHA! but Vince = ratings!! dont worry Vince will be able to demonstrate that soon enough much like Superman he will "heed the call" when he was needed and get his ass back out there
Guest TheArchiteck Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 Trick or Treating is to blame.....or is it Paul Wright sudden rise to fame. Is it Bischoff kissing Steph McMahon? Or was it Mae Young & Moolah making Tajiri a man? Maybe it was because we never saw who was in the bear suit. Or was it Brother Love's appereance for some quick loot. Oh dear that was a hoot! Maybe it was Rey being treated like Spike. Or maybe it was Beniot scaring us on the mic. (haha!) Was it the lack of Undertaker's annoying yell? Nevermind, I don't think we care. Could it be Torrie's wicked spear? No, it was Rikishi's ass shots we feared. Dawn Marie was mighty sexy but damn Steph has big breasties. The night had many more spots to call but yet I end this poem that probably won't draw. See you next time on Monday Night Raw.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 I think it was because it was Halloween
Guest Ram Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 And RAW's crap might be indirectly affecting Smackdown.
ChrisMWaters Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 This week wasn't really a good judgement. I believe they should have held Smackdown on Friday this week insted of Thursday. That way, the holiday wouldn't have effected the rating at all.
Guest converge241 Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 sure the holiday explains it for Vince et al (it was some kind of holiday on Monday too right....... right?)
ChrisMWaters Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 sure the holiday explains it for Vince et al (it was some kind of holiday on Monday too right....... right?) I wouldn't be surprised if Vince blamed the Holiday week for Raw's rating too.
Guest AndrewTS Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 I know I didn't watch it, I was out partying. I think a lot of other people in the jkey demographic were too, or the younger set was out trick-or-treating. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge I agree that was probably the reason. Next week it should be up. Plus, most people feel that how good a show was determines the next week's rating. The Taker stretcher job? The Big Show all over the show? This last SD was great, so next week will be strong as far as ratings, IMO.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 It's because it was Halloween, and not many people were watching Smackdown. To be honest, I thought the show was pretty good.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 It's the ecomomy Seriously, I'm sure most people had better things to do Halloween night...plus Big Show taking over the show couldn't have helped matters.
Guest ShooterJay Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 I think the problem is that no casual fan differentiates between Raw and Smackdown- it's still "WWF." The shittiness of one is affecting the other.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 It was lucky it got that considering Halloween is as bad as a Friday or Saturday night. The target audience wasn't home. End of story.
Guest Brian Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 It can't be that, because last week SmackDown should have helped RAW. And RAW before that was starting to slide and it didn't hurt SmackDown.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 Guys, we had good show/bad show syndrome going into SummerSlam this year, and the ratings totally disproved your whole little "a good show this week means a good rating next week" thing. It's been determined for a while now that match quality doesn't affect ratings as much as you'd believe, as the general public is not as fickle about wrestling matches as you or I would be. If ratings were that predictable, Nielsen would be out of business by now. However, stuff like the soap opera bullshit does affect ratings, adversely even. That's just painfully obvious. I predict 3 weeks of good shows before they can get back to where they were. And with Big Show as a main eventer, I don't think we'll be seeing very many good shows for a while.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 Hmm. Im lucky..I got to do both (Party and watch Smackdown, but not at the same time of course..)
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 Well, I think it was because of Halloween. I didn't watch because of me going to a party. Many others could have done the same...
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted November 2, 2002 Report Posted November 2, 2002 If next week it goes back up, then we know the reason.
