Cover Story

Levon Kirkland AKA the football player that marks for Booker T, gives the Book a tour of the new Philadelphia Eagles training facility. Levon watches Raw over Monday Night Football. More power to him. Levon is a long-time Booker fan. Booker was surprised when Levon recalled the Ebony Express. Levon’s teammate, Tom Kanavy, is also a WWE fan. They are practically the only two on the team, as was demonstrated when no one knew what the hell Levon was doing the first time he did the hand thing. Levon turns down the opportunity to do a Spinaroonie.

 

A LOP reader actually sent me a report of a Confidential segment being shot at Booker T’s store in Texas. Whenever they get to airing that segment, I’ll be sure to tack on the report.

 

Segment 1: 1/1

 

SWEET, a Rey Mysterio segment. Once Rey bursts through the entrance ramp he has no fear. He stays fresh by constantly innovating. Before a show starts, Rey meditates in the ring. This is when he comes up with most of his moves, including the 619. He describes the old 619, which would of course be his fakeout move in WCW. I’m pretty sure that move has been featured in practically every wrestling video game since 2000. When Rey first debuted on WWE TV, he sat down with Michael Cole and Tazz to tell them about his moves. Supposedly, Cole made sure that all the moves had appropriate names. A few clips follow, most of which include Cole botching the names of the moves. Rey’s most memorable 619 was on Kurt Angle. Next he mentions the West Coast Pop and ends the segment by saying that there is only one Rey Mysterio. Well, actually there are two if he counts his father.

 

Segment 2: 2/2

 

ROB…VAN…DAM tours Jakks Pacific. He browses through some of their toys and fools around with a mic. RVD is shown how the figures are made. A quick video of Jamie Knoble being real scanned is shown. Hmmm…A Knoble and Nidia two-pack would be really cool. Rob signs an autograph for the guy that reproduces his singlets on the figures. RVD had no idea that he had so many action figures. In case any of you actually give a damn, I own the first ever RVD action figure from ECW. What I don’t understand is why Rob Van Dam and Booker T are showcased on Confidential every week, yet they never get this much attention on Raw.

 

Segment 3: 3/3

 

Dave “Fit” Finlay, the women’s road agent, talks about how he helps the women with their matches and moves. Fit’s dad was a wrestling promoter back in the day. Since then, Finlay has worked in England, Germany and WCW, where he suffered a career ending knee injury. When the WWF acquired the WCW, Finlay was assigned to the women. At first he thought it was a rib or something, but here he is one year later. His goal is to make the WWE Diva be more than just eye candy. All of the ladies have nice things to say about him. Trish quotes him as saying, “This ain’t ballet.” He must be a reader of the Ross Report. One time Nidia asked Fit how to throw a forearm and he nailed her with one. Molly emphasizes that Fit also tries to incorporate wrestling into the gimmick matches. All of the ladies reiterate that Fit is respectful towards them. They all feel comfortable working with him. Terri compares it to a woman’s relationship with her male doctor. For some reason I doubt all that would have been brought up if the Nicole Bass trial weren’t currently going on. Trish, “Enough of us are able to work now. We don’t just pull hair anymore, we kick ass.” Great segment.

 

Segment 4: 4/4

 

Next up are some past clips of the WWF in Las Vegas. All of this is done to hype the upcoming Raw Roulette.

 

A skinny Sean Morely (Val Venis) with very short hair talks about his original gimmick. He’s even using his regular voice. Seriously, if he walked past me on the street, I wouldn’t have recognized him. I would imagine he is still rehabbing from that freak accident he had a couple of months ago. When Vince McMahon first told him about the porn star gimmick, he thought it was a little weird. Then he figured that it would be a fun role to play. His favorite prematch promo was “Val Venis is like a Rubric’s Cube, the more you play with it, the harder it gets.” Morely came up with that one all on his own. Sean relays to us that his mom was ecstatic when she heard that her son would be playing an adult film star. Morely adds that he is nothing like the Val Venis character and it is time to move on to something else.

To cap off this week we get the making of the No Mercy commercial starring Pete Rose.

 

Gene promises us a few surprises for next week. I would imagine that means they have no idea what to do for next week.
