Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince is obviously the biggest wrestling mark/smark on the planet, I mean he runs the show we watch. So we have to figure he's a fan. But what does he watch? Is he into the NJPW heavyweight style, or does he go more for the J-Cup and lightweight stuff? Think he sits in his office with tapes of Big Japan and jerks off watching guys get put through plate glass windows? I'm curious as to what everyone thinks since I wonder if Vince even watches other wrestling? I mean did he watch WCW or ECW, I mean I've never heard him say he did. At this point I wonder if he even watches his own product. Discuss and give your opinion.
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I honestly think he's only into his stuff, mostly because he's too busy running his own show. I mean I can't see Vince sitting down and watching some Puro or Ring Of Honor. I mean he watched some WCW, and probably watches some NWA just to scout the competition, but he probably has advisors do that for him. Seriously he's too busy trying to book his own show to watch anything else. And besides, as you mention his whole life IS wrestling. If he's involved with WWE 23 hours a day, do you think he'd spend his free hour watching MORE wrestling? I doubt it.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I think it's strictly business with him.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 He's probably a huge fan of basement wrestling, which is how he probably found out about Perry Saturn if the rumors are true.
Guest razazteca Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I think the only Puro Vince watches involves Giants Silva or Singh
Guest midnight_burn Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince would watch all hosses, all the time.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 But Vince has to steal his ideas from somewhere else now that ECW and WCW are dead, hey worked for WCW and their nWo idea.
Guest Brian Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I don't think he actually wtaches wrestling during the day. Just soap operas. Maybe at work he'll pop in a few screened tapes.
Guest razazteca Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Linda and Stephanie steal ideas from PASSIONS~
Guest Jonathan Barber Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I presume Vince focuses on his own product. J.R. and the other talent scouts are the ne who watch the indy wrestling to see if they can spot any possible future talents.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Yeah, but as a fan, he must watch something else. And if he's not a fan, what the fuck is he doing running the company.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 The best type of wrestling there is... Steph vs. Original Thought.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Seeing as most indys and most puro is the exact opposite of WWE, I doubt Vince watches it. I could see him watching NWA for Bruce though. Actually, I don't think he watches wrestling period, he just runs WWE. When he steals ideas, I think his assistants go "Hey Vince, we should totally steal this" and then Vince is like "Dude, totally." Then they put on some visors backwards and listen to Eminen all day. *I may have exaggerated on that last part*
Guest The Old Me Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince is a fan of *sports entertainment*. Not a fan of wrestling. I'd wager he doesn't watch any other shows, as by the WWE canon, there are NO other shows.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince likes to watch Hillbilly Jim vs. Henry Godwin in a hog pen match.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 he watches "not his own"
Guest Leena Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince likes to watch gorgeous 20-year olds have their way with him. I seriously think Vince will get head once on live TV.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I never thought of that. In fact, I could see that happening, like, this year.
Guest RedJed Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I honestly don't think he watches any wrestling, especially since nothing is direct competition to him right now. Maybe back in the day he would keep up with WCW (competition) or maybe even ECW to see what guys he could score from Heyman. For fucks sake though, isnt it pretty obvious he's NOT a fan of wrestling in the first place?! This is like an oxymoron question when you think about it. Vince McMahon and the sport of wrestling don't go hand in hand.
Guest RedJed Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 And if he's not a fan, what the fuck is he doing running the company. Who says you have to be a fan of the sport to run a company?
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Well if I dont support something, I probably would not want to be involved. Hell tahts one fo the reasons WCW fell, no one on top was a wrestling fan.
Guest RedJed Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 .......it was more that those people were horrible businessmen. They at least had the common sense to let others book so their lack of being a fan really had nothing to do with it, IMO.
Guest Special K Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 He watches the ME of WMXIII over and over.
Guest thebigjig Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Vince isn't a fan of wrestling? Please, throw me another one! He was a fan growing up, his favorite wrestler being Superstar Billy Graham for Christ's sake. Do you honestly think someone with the power and responsibility of Vince McMahon would actually have the time to sit down and watch NWA-TNA or Puro? From what I've read, his days consist of endless meetings and conference calls in an enviroment filled with so much stress that it would make most of us go insane by the third hour.
Guest Choken One Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I think in the Eighties and most of the 90's vince was passionate about the business because he had to keep it thriving by seeing other companies direction and searching for the next star...today, Raw isn't going anywhere...3.6 is still great cable ratings...He still has a huge International fan base...he is more concern about Image (odd as that may sound) then the product. Shane is the only McMahon that strikes me as a Fan of wrestling...let's think about it...In some cases...people resent what they are around all the time. I was around NASCAR community for 17 years but I enjoyed it but I saw the stress it produced on my father and the crew...I wouldn't want to have a career as a driver or crew (it was something i did recreationally). Maybe Stephanie is tired of Wrestling and wants to add the intrigue of drama and passion. Maybe Shane is bored of the sport and just wants to go another way. I think it's clear Linda is only a fan of the Money not the sport. Vince McMahon loved Wrestling at one point but today he loves being known as a Billionaire, even if it means neglecting what made him a billionarie.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Why would Vince need to watch other Wrestling Feds? He has guys like Triple H & Jim Ross to do that for him. They report back to him about what is Over, what works and doesn't work, who draws and doesn't, who has Charisma and who is Athletic & who are the Great Workers. When he has Right Hand Men like those two, why would he need to watch for himself?
Guest AndrewTS Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Slobberknockers with lots of physicality between/among hosses bah gawd!
