Guest Rob Edwards Posted November 18, 2002 Report Posted November 18, 2002 Well Matt had to get hammered to get Setiner over last night then? Couldn't they have used Al Snow or someone else worthless? Have they not got ears to listen out for pops? Matt is easily one of the most over guys on the roster and they still have him squashed by a guy who's likley to be injured after a few months Feel free to continue my rant
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 I think they used Nowinski and Matt specifically to ensure Steiner was face. The former two are two of the best heels in WWE IMO, so it sort of makes sense. The squashing part isn't cool, but hopefully this leads to some kind of retribution down the road. I could see Matt constantly attacking BPP and getting "wins" due to interference and then bragging about it. Nowinski could do something along the same lines. Knowing WWE though, it probabaly was meant to squash him. Yay.
Guest Repo Man jr Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 Atleast they got on the PPV. And it wasn't the end of the world, he just suplexed them. No harm done.
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 Having not seen the PPV, I thought that he must have kicked their asses all over the place, based on the first post. Oops. Well, sounds like you're right then Repo Man Jr.

Well, sounds like you're right then Repo Man Jr. I was at the PPV, and believe me, it was a complete and utter squash. Yes, it was that bad. Of course, it got everyone in the crowd full of New Yorkers--including myself--quite excited. But there would have been major harm done to their characters...if their characters had any cred in the first place.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 They had to have a heel from both RAW and SmackDown! as the story is that Steiner hasn't made up his mind yet on what show he will join. That said, based on that reaction last night I can see him on both shows until they have him make his mind up to spike some ratings. I think it was good Matt hardy was one of those destroyed last night - its obvious a fair amount of the crowd dig Mattitude and so to completly turn him more they have him destroyed by someone the crowd want to see destroy him i.e. people want Steiner more than Mattitude so use it to frive home Matt is a heel.
Guest OSIcon Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 Matt Hardy has been squashed by Undertaker more then once since coming to Smackdown and lost to Rikishi just a few months ago. So him getting thrown around by Steiner shouldn't that much of a surprise or a concern. It's like he was getting big wins before this and now his heat is gone. He survived losing to Rikishi, so getting thrown around by Steiner (who is being pushed as a mega face) won't damage him at all.
Guest Ram Posted November 19, 2002 Report Posted November 19, 2002 One clothesline, two suplexes = Squash Benoit and Angle must then = Super Squashers
