Guest saturnmark4life Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 i think that they've pretty much starved the lifespan of angle/benoit for now. And they might be hesitant to put the belt back on brock. (though surely he should get a pinfall on show at some point) Does angle beat benoit and go on to the title? cos benoit seems to kick his ass most of the time, and the fans seem to want him as a face. just not steiner, that's all i ask.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 They could do a whole Bret/Piper deal where Bret never really 'lost' the title since he was sick (Brock being injured and Heyman turning on him should suffice) and after beating the big show again - he wants his title back. It would be a great set up for a feud between lesnar and angle and they could both work as faces.
Guest Brian Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 Benoit turning on Angle during a tag title shot to side with his friends would add the depth and steady the heel/face lines that the feud needs. I would have Brock take the title back at Armaggedon, pull off a trios match at the same show with Edge/Angle/Rey vs. Eddie/Benoit/Chavo, with Knoble interfering and taking out Rey's leg to allow him to get his knee worked. Rey/Knoble could be the big cruiserweight title program on Rey's return and Kidman can than get involved in the tag setting to refreshen it and get some more cruiser-exposure. Angle wins the Rumble. Heyman goes after both guys, siding with Benoit and a returning Rhyno (solves the mic problem for Benoit). Benoit would be looking for the contender's spot, while Rhyno's role would be more of an enforcer. That helps set up the ribs for the Mania match (GORE~!). They could build up the match as never before seen, meeting of two former champs. They can still do speed vs .power though the depth of Brock being a cocky heel who had a fear of Angle in the back part of his mind, from wrestling camp, won't be there. Still, they can get quite a backstory out of it. The other option is keep Angle heel, but tweener and have him win the title and go full-blown heel turning Benoit and losing to Brock. More challenging IMO and still only really helps to just build up Brock again, and maybe Benoit but he just doesn't work as well as a face as he does a heel. And the crowd seems more willing to cheer Angle now, because he seems to only be drawing true heel heat for his music and cheap tactics in the promos.
Guest ryankeast Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 Brian I prefer scenario one. Long term booking doesn't seem to be the WWE way though.
Guest Brian Posted November 20, 2002 Report Posted November 20, 2002 Which would explain why <SD spoiler> Benoit didn't interfere in Angle's match and let him fight Eddy and Chavo.
