Guest ManKinnd Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 I'm thinking of making a Best Of TV Wrestling Tape just for reference, so which matches do you guys think I should use? This'll also help us remember the awesome moments SD has given us this year and the few Raw goodies. Thanks in advance.
Guest chirs3 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 RAW -- RVD/Guerrero Ladder Match -- RVD/Dreamer, Hardcore Match that retired the Hardcore Title SMACKDOWN -- Angle/Benoit vs. Rey/Edge, 2/3 Falls Er... I can't remember much of the stuff that happened earlier this year... I'll add more when I think of 'em.
Guest HartFan86 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Hogan/Rock confronation night after No Way Out 2002 is a must (minus the truck shit). RVD vs. Eddie (Ladder Match on Raw, IC Title, Benoit's WWE Return) Edge/Rey vs. Benoit/Angle (2 out of 3 falls) Benoit vs. RVD (Raw, Benoit wins IC title) Austin vs. Flair (Special stipulation matches...for historical purposes as it was Austin's last WWE TV match.) Edge vs. Angle (Cage Match on SD) You'll definately want HBK vs. RVD from this week's Raw as well. Most of the SD stuff....can't think of anything else particularly right now.
Guest Angle-plex Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Edge vs Eddy-Ladder Match on Smackdown Angle vs Benoit vs Rey- The Same Smackdown
Guest chirs3 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Eddy/Edge ladder match? When did that happen? Do you mean the No Holds Barred Match where there was quite a bit of ladder play, by any chance?
Guest HartFan86 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Edge vs Eddy-Ladder Match on Smackdown That was actually No DQ...but yeah, they should of just said it was a ladder match.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 You'll definately want HBK vs. RVD from this week's Raw as well. Uh..I doubt it. But the rest of the matches would be very worthy. I wonder if the WWE will have a top matches show on New Years eve this year?
Guest HartFan86 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 You'll definately want HBK vs. RVD from this week's Raw as well. Uh..I doubt it. As long as there is no screwy finishes, gets enough time to build up, and RVD wins. Oh wait, this is WWE....nevermind.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Along with all the other great Smackdown stuff you're likely to get on the list, I'd like to pimp the Angle-Eddie-Benoit vs Rey-Edge-Cena six man a whiles back that ended with Rey pinning Angle with the springboard hurracanrana. Not a MOTYC or anything, but a really fun, well-executed match that might end up over-looked. Don't forget some of the great stuff Rock produced for the short time he was back in the summer as well. I loved Rock-Eddie from Raw. For interest value, Jericho-Hogan and Jericho-HHH are Jericho's best work this year as well as HHH's best non-gimmick match. Both were on Smackdown and the latter was a rematch far superior to the WM main event that actually had the novelty of Jerico pinning HHH.
Guest chirs3 Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Ooh, Rock/Eddie was pretty good, wasn't it? And I remember Eddie had some awesome counter to the Rock Bottom, but I don't remember what the counter actually was... anyone?
Guest bravesfan Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Some kind of delayed armdrag into a roll-up, I believe..
Guest The Hamburglar Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 Eddie countered it into a sweet armdrag into a pinning combination if I recall. Definitely an armdrag involved. Eddie's promo on the Rock beforehand was priceless too.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted November 22, 2002 Report Posted November 22, 2002 You could just stick the Benoit/Angle Unforgiven match on a tape and not miss a thing. Hate to be the one to say it, but I can't remember there ever being a year this bad.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 This reminds me of the joke that Foley always tells about the Best of Al Snow tape being just a blank casette........
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 There's only one thing you'll need: "I'm gonna lay the Smackdown on his crippled ass! nWo style!" Funniest. Line. Ever. Why isn't it on a T-Shirt?
Guest ManKinnd Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 This reminds me of the joke that Foley always tells about the Best of Al Snow tape being just a blank casette........ Now that's a bit extreme. Eddy/Edge, Eddy/RVD, Angle+Benoit vs Eddy/Chavo, Eddy/Rey... I mean just look at all the Eddy matches! Not as many good ones as last year, but there's plenty more than 0.
ChrisMWaters Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Not for wrestling, but for how good it was built...Hogan and Rock. For how well he performed considering...Michaels/HHH at Summerslam. Cut off before the sledge shot post match.

What about the X-Divison and the Ring of Honor Syndicated TV show?
ChrisMWaters Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 There's only one thing you'll need: "I'm gonna lay the Smackdown on his crippled ass! nWo style!" Funniest. Line. Ever. Why isn't it on a T-Shirt? Well, cause the nWo is dead... If it were still around, I could easilly see a shirt of it made. ...then again, I thought they would have had a "Ruthless Aggression" shirt by now...
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Cena's debut against Angle Edge/Jericho Cage Match (right before Y2J jumped to Raw) Brock/RVD from Raw (a lot better than both their ppv matches) TLC 4 if you ignore the HHH promo afterwards ("You are a murderer!") and Kane beating 3 tag teams on his own.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Yeah, I know, it's a little extreme, I just find it odd that there were better bouts on TV then PPV this year. Couple that with the fact that TV ratings are in the shitter and you've got the makings of one crazy year.

That line needs to be immortalized.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Hate to be the one to say it, but I can't remember there ever being a year this bad. 1994 period....shitty wrestling and horrible storylines(Taker vs Yokozuna ring a bell...) The ONLY decent thing that happened in 1994 was Bret vs Backlund, Owen vs Bret and HBK vs Razor. Other then that I can't remember anything good that the WWF put out for that year.
Guest midnight_burn Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Wasn't there a good Steve Austin vs Kurt Angle Raw match before No Way Out? If i'm thinking of the right match that was a pretty good one.
Guest TajiriMark Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 I don't know how many of you feel the same way as me on this match, but personally, I really enjoyed the Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. match on SmackDown a few weeks after their Summerslam match. If I remember correctly, I think Scott Keith gave that match a **3/4 rating, but I thought it was much better than that myself.
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 I don't think anyone has mentioned Edge vs. Angle from a couple months ago on Smackdown. We've had a lot of good free TV matches this year...
Guest The Electrifyer Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 There's only one thing you'll need: "I'm gonna lay the Smackdown on his crippled ass! nWo style!" Funniest. Line. Ever. Why isn't it on a T-Shirt? HAHAHAHA!!! I remember that, it was just another stupid attempt by Hogan to try and act cool. He then followed up that line with some of the UGLIEST crotch chops I have ever seen.
Guest Brian Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 I think Ricky means everywhere, because it's been pretty terrible everywhere.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 Well, I haven't seen everywhere, but most people that I trust say it's been bad pretty much everywhere. There's deffinately a few worth seeing, though, just no nearly as much as in previous years. And 1994 is my favorite year of wrestling ever, for whoever said it was terrible. Of course, I know whoever it was just ment the WWF, but even then, my favorite WWF match took place that year. Oh well, it takes all kinds.
Guest MixxMaster Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 For how well he performed considering...Michaels/HHH at Summerslam. Cut off before the sledge shot post match. Ummm, isn't this about the "Best of TV"???? PPV's don't count then, right???
