Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I think an Edge turn is LONG overdue coughSTALEASALLHELLcough... Then I read this: "There is no arena or crowd that has more impact on WWE booking than that of Madison Square Garden in New York City. Recently, the New York crowd was instrumental in hastening a face turn for Brock Lesanr after cheering him against the Rock at Summerslam. At Survivor Series, the fans were vociferously behind Rob Van Dam, and McMahon took note, putting RVD in the first slot to challege Shawn Michaels on Raw the next day. The crowd also popped huge for Scott Steiner, and the return of the Dudley Boys, but interestingly booed Edge, who is booked as a face. Credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter " Before anyone says "don't beleive the Torch" they were the ones who no one beleived when they said Big Show and HBK were walking out champs at SS. So...Edge turn...yes or no? What's your opinion.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Hmmmm. I think Edge's character is stale, but so was Jericho's and he did fine. He even ME'd against Austin. As a heel, who would he feud with?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I can understand the point about RVD, but to turn Edge heel when the crowd booed the elimination of Angle/Benoit is just stupid. Also, aside from Brock and possible Rey, he'd have no one to feud with unless Booker or RVD jumped from RAW.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 So jump Edge over to RAW as a heel. Makes sense to me, I'm not going to miss him on SD! and it: 1: Let's us see how Edge can handle facing someone other than the best in the company 2: Gives some fresh feuds like RVD vs. Edge that I'd like to see. Makes RAW better...and SD! stays about the same to me. At least if their plan with Edge was to have Show squash him.

Guest bob_barron Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 MSG loved God's Team so much that everyone else was pretty much booed. Even Rey didn't get that much crowd heat which is why the crowd died when God's Team got eliminated.

Makes sense to me, I'm not going to miss him on SD! and it: 1: Let's us see how Edge can handle facing someone other than the best in the company Considering that not even the best guys in the company could drag a good match out of anybody on the RAW roster lately, I'd say it'd be pretty ugly. 2: Gives some fresh feuds like RVD vs. Edge that I'd like to see. That has possibilites, but then they'll just bang their heads against the ceiling again. Makes RAW better...and SD! stays about the same to me. At least if their plan with Edge was to have Show squash him. Makes sense. He can get squashed by HBK instead of getting squashed by Fat Fuck. [/AS Mode] Seriously, I'd doubt that they'd have him be squashed by HBK, but much like RVD, they need to piss or get off the pot concerning Edge.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I'm REALLY starting to hate this "God's Team" crap... Especially since Los Guerreros are miles better than they are.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I was pissed they didn't turn Edge heel after WrestleMania. Think about it... Edge was doing NOTHING at the time...they had to throw in a feud with Booker over shampoo commercials. Meanwhile...RVD beat Regal for the IC title, which Edge had feiled to get back several times in the last 2 months. They should have turned Edge then, had him cheat to beat RVD then gone on to feud with RVD for a while. Instead they let both of them go nowhere for a while.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Sorry APO- I have names for other two teams but I couldn't come up with anything for Angle/Benoit so I'm just using God's Team for now. But Los Guerreros have the power of MULLET!~ and CHEAT TO WIN! so by proxy they are better then God's..sorry- Angle/Benoit
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I'm REALLY starting to hate this "God's Team" crap... Especially since Los Guerreros are miles better than they are. Yeah, and the name doesn't make sense either. What did HHH have to do with their team?

Actually, I think they should have turned him when he and Hogan lost the tag titles given all the build-up they'd been giving the "I saw Hogan at WM 6" story and Edge standing there looking star struck when he and Hogan won them.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 That could have worked, but I think Hogan was about done jobbing at that point. He put over Brock soon after and then left...I doubt he'd have stayed longer just to job to Edge in the end too.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 An Edge heel turn is probably about due now. He could conceivably have a great feud with Rey, think of the heat he would get for turning on his little buddy. And we've seen from years before that Edge is a highly effective heel, both in-ring and on the mic. But no Raw move...Raw is where crappy wrestlers go to die, Edge still has some potential.

What's funny is that I always thought that team was going to end with Edge finally turning on Hogan after the loss and then he'd get squashed by the power of WrinkleMania.
Guest cabbageboy Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I didn't think Edge was being booed exactly, I think the crowd just wanted Angle and Benoit to stay in the match. I have no idea who he would feud with though aside from Rey.
Guest the pinjockey Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Edge got no reaction when he made his entrance though.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Either way I still think that Edge is overdue for a turn. Brock is a face now, Angle or Benoit are going to end up as faces, Rey is a face... there are some things he can do.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 An Edge heel turn would be something fresh, I'll say that much. I'm getting kinda tired of his current face gimmick. If they did turn him heel, they could have him fued with Mysterio, Lesnar, and possibly Angle or Benoit, whichever one they turned face. If he went to RAW, he could fued with RVD, Booker T, or even Kane. There are a few opponents for Edge to face if he turned heel.
Guest Ram Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 I think Edge should stay face a little longer. We don't need another quick turn. Make it mean something.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Quick? He's been languishing on as a face since like...before the KOTR he won.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Well, technically, he was still a heel going into KOTR, but yeah, you're probably right.
