Undertaker Possibly Returning At Armageddon Tonight

Reported by Ryan Clark on Sunday, December 15, 2002

According to many in the backstage area of WWE, there is talk of The Undertaker doing a run-in during the Kurt Angle vs. Big Show WWE title match tonight.

There has been talk over the past several weeks that The Undertaker would be returning any day now. The current plan as of late last week was for The Undertaker to play a role in tonight's Armageddon PPV.

Although it's not confirmed, don't be to shocked to see an appearance by The Undertaker live tonight.

Also, you pretty much gave away the spoiler in your heading.

I mean, seriously.

Sorry dude, but until I see it at the Torch site (meaning it's 50-50) or at the Observer (75-90% possible), I doubt it seriously. I mean, this is another one of those sites who just throw out blind speculation.

Hell, they had a picture of Deacon Bautista instead of the Undertaker for the story.

If the Undertaker is going to start a fued with Albert after Armageddon, what would be the point in him interfering in the Angle vs. Big Show match?

That quote right there wants me to punch this guy. So that means that the Taker Smart Marks can't mark out if Taker runs down because we heard it from you and the internet? People like this make me want to stop visiting sites.

Oh...and I don't believe this til I hear it from Metzler.

Dunno if you want to hear this but... from WrestlingObserver.com:

--Tonight's line-up:

*Shawn Michaels vs. HHH in a series with a street fight, cage match and ladder match for the Raw title

*Big Show vs. Kurt Angle for the Smackdown title

*Victoria vs. Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline for the womens title

*Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Booker & Goldust vs. Lance Storm & William Regal vs. Dudleys for Raw tag titles

*Kane vs. Dave Batista

*Chris Benoit vs. Eddy Guerrero

*Edge vs. A-Train

*Maven vs. Christopher Nowinski

On paper, this looks like a show that Shawn Michaels and HHH have to save. Even though that angle isn't working as a main event program, when it comes time to deliver a match to save a show, even today I'd be pretty confident in Michaels as he's two-for-two on big shows. The last time they did the three-match series gimmick with HHH and Steve Austin, the two ended up out there for 45 minutes. Ladder match is the one I'm worried about because the expectations are so high and guys have done things far beyond what Michaels did with Scott Hall to put the match on the wrestling map, that they may be setting up a disappointment.

This will be Angle's biggest test this year. Angle hasn't had a bad PPV match, and I don't think this will be bad, but I'm not sure it'll be good. It's best kept short, but WWE kind of patterns main events to go about 20 minutes even when they should be kept shorter. Well, there is Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar to distract, plus it wouldn't shock me to see Undertaker make a surprise appearance. And even though Angle is scheduled for knee surgery and will be out for a month, don't guarantee that makes the winner of the match obvious.

The women had a dry-run of their match in Norfolk on Friday that was apparently a total mess. This will probably be kept short. The Raw tag match should be good. I'm guessing on Booker & Goldust going over based on the storyline going in.

Kane vs Batista worries me. There is just something dead about this match and I think they'd have been better off making it a tag, throwing in Van Dam and a partner for Batista and save the single for down the line. I don't think the feud is hot enough, and as workers, Kane, being bigger, is the wrong guy to put Batista with in his first major appearance. Batista is limited and this may get him off onthe wrong foot.

Benoit vs. Guerrero should be great. It is the planned start of a singles push for Benoit.

Edge vs. A-Train will be a challenge. Edge also has his own streak of good matches going, and I'm not sure it'll continue.

As for Maven vs. Nowinski, which hasn't been officially announced, the crowds haven't taken to Maven at all since his return. This is a natural feud that on paper should work, but people aren't buying.
