Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Big Show getting Pushed even though he was unmotivated. Check! Albert, he's a Hoss and now getting a Push. Check! Bill Demott, mini-Hoss, getting a Push. Check! Edge injured after working his Ass off. Check! Rey Mysterio out with an Injury after Working his Ass off. Check! Angle out with an Injury after working his Ass off. Check! Cruiserweights getting Squashed. Check! Guys like Matt Hardy and Rookies getting Squashed when they have the chance to become Really Good Wrestlers. Check! Eddie & Chavo being wasted in a Tag Division without other Tag teams and being used as 2 Minute filler Matches. Check! Benoit being pushed aside. Check! Back to "Sports-Entertainment" with all the Promo's and Segments. Check! Outrageous and Ridiculous Storylines with Swerves. Check! All you people on here who bitched that the "Smackdown-Six" were getting boring and wanted something New, well here it is! Hope You're all Friggen Happy. I just got done watching Smackdown from last night and I'm so pissed right now. This almost became a thread for the "NHB" folder.
Guest Si82 Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 I haven't seen Smackdown this week yet (we don't get until Saturday in the UK) but from the reports I have read it looks like it sucks major ass with Hossmania running wild. Mind you I haven't been too impressed with Smackdown over the past couple of weeks either. I mean why is Paul Heyman becoming Stephaine McMahon (version 2) and pushing himself into every main event program?
Guest EricMM Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 I wouldn't be surprised to see the SD! ratings finally start to dip the way the RAW ratings have. Because, they WERE doing smackdown right. Now, with Bill DeMott, A-Train, and Big Show arguably higher on the card right now than EDDY GUERRERO, what will the ratings do hmm...
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Big Show getting Pushed even though he was unmotivated. Check! Show is a lost cause. If the reports are true and he's getting his acts together to make himself worth his push, then fine. I'd rather have a motivated Big Show who got there via an undeserved push than a consistantly unmotivated Big Show doing nothing in his match. Albert, he's a Hoss and now getting a Push. Check! Albert always gets a push. It's a cyclical thing. Like Rikishi. Just give them time. Bill Demott, mini-Hoss, getting a Push. Check! That won't go anywhere either. Both guys are proven to not draw. And it's still better than all the big men on Raw (3 Minute Warning, anyone?) Edge injured after working his Ass off. Check! Rey Mysterio out with an Injury after Working his Ass off. Check! Angle out with an Injury after working his Ass off. Check! These things happen. HHH, Benoit, and some others(?) all got injured at one time shortly after X-7 as well, and the product wasn't TERRIBLE at that point or anything. Cruiserweights getting Squashed. Check! Guys like Matt Hardy and Rookies getting Squashed when they have the chance to become Really Good Wrestlers. Check! You act like this is new to the WWE. On the plus side, at least someone was watching, so maybe Moore will get more than 3 seconds each month. Eddie & Chavo being wasted in a Tag Division without other Tag teams and being used as 2 Minute filler Matches. Check! Consider that both guys were sick this week. Scratch that, consider the fact that most the roster was sick this week and it explains at least a bit of the disappointing workrate. Benoit being pushed aside. Check! Benoit will always, ALWAYS be a short-term guy. It's going to take a lot of injuries before he's considered a champion. Sad yes, but if you thought it was any different a few weeks ago you're either overly optimistic or delusional. Back to "Sports-Entertainment" with all the Promo's and Segments. Check! Outrageous and Ridiculous Storylines with Swerves. Check! You do realize, of course, that they just came right off a PPV, and have to spend at least one show setting up WHY guys are wrestling each other before letting loose with the buildup matches? This is all whining over stuff that's either always has been (Albert's push, Benoit's not-quite-there status), or stuff that's not guaranteed to last.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 No, I'm "whining" over the fact we had it good for a while there. Hell, even Taker/Brock was decent with the Exception of the Women from his past part. Even the crowds who are suppose to be filled with Casual Fans were popping for the Work Rate. But, as always, then Internet needs something to Bitch & Cry about. Notice the Ratings have dropped a little since then also? It's not like I'm blaming you guys for the product being filled with Crap right now. We all know WWE doesn't listen to us. I'm just saying I hope you guys realized just how good we had it. Look at show now. I hope all the Bitching & Crying was Worth it.
Guest nikowwf Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Looks like we are getting an Angle vs. Benoit program leading to an Angle vs. Brock program, and Albert's feud with Edge seemingly ended last night, we don't know who Eddy or Rey will be programmed with when he returns this month. Its not so bad. Yes, the Demott thing is stupid, but they are always going to do that. niko
Guest Goodear Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 You know what? The fucking hosses did a better job on Smackdown than the normally good guys! Fucking A-Train tried to carry Edge, but Edge would not have it! I'll say again, Edge would not allow himself to get carried!!! Brock had the only goog moments on the show when he tried to kill Moore. Show didn't even have a match. Stupid Angle/Benoit match was boring as death itself. Stupid Billy Kidman made Eddie Guerrero seem dull. John Cena vs. Palumbo I cannot even remember! But Bill DeMott sucks.
Guest Ram Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Maybe you all should learn to enjoy power-wrestling. It'd save you a lot of blood vessels.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Big Show getting Pushed even though he was unmotivated. Check! From all accounts, he is no longer unmotivated. No, he shouldn't have been World Champ, but he's not anymore, and will either be playing third banana to Angle & Heyman, or will keep Angle busy until Wrestlemania. He isn't that big a deal. Albert, he's a Hoss and now getting a Push. Check! Now that he lost to Edge, he will begin the the slow depush and be on Velocity again in a few weeks. Until next time. Bill Demott, mini-Hoss, getting a Push. Check! I agree with this. Use him to promote Tough Enough (they completely missed the boat with guys like Snow), and when it's over, so is his push. Edge injured after working his Ass off. Check! It happens. Rey Mysterio out with an Injury after Working his Ass off. Check! He's always been injury prone. It is something you have to accept when it comes to him. Angle out with an Injury after working his Ass off. Check! He also happens to be World Champ. Cruiserweights getting Squashed. Check! I agree with this one, but it isn't exactly a new thing. Guys like Matt Hardy and Rookies getting Squashed when they have the chance to become Really Good Wrestlers. Check! Same as the above comment. I am glad that Moore is back with Matt though. Perhaps Matt can have a flock like midcard stable of MFers. Eddie & Chavo being wasted in a Tag Division without other Tag teams and being used as 2 Minute filler Matches. Check! If you haven't noticed, Kidman has been getting a pretty serious push recently. Benoit being pushed aside. Check! Challenging for the World Title and being the #2 Face is not being pushed aside. When he is in tag matches against the Hoss of the Week and Fat Samoans, then complain. Back to "Sports-Entertainment" with all the Promo's and Segments. Check! They never really left. They are simply better than what's on RAW (aside from the wedding storyline) because of better writing. I am not asking for no Sports-Entertainment. I am simply asking that it is ENTERTAINING. Outrageous and Ridiculous Storylines with Swerves. Check! Heyman's good at coming up with explanations. Perhaps he knew that Steph was going to reinstate Brock anyways (which from her comments when she did it, definitely appeared to be the case). He DID screw over Big Show, only Show is too stupid to realize it. I am waiting to see what he does with his stable. If it ends up like the Heenan Family, then I am all for it. It was clear then that the stars were Andre, Rude, etc, and Heenan was just helping them get over. If it ends up like the Corporation, where Vince is the big star, then I will complain. It is too early to tell.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 I hate Brocky. I hate the Big Show. I hate Albert. I hate the Al Wilson soap opera. I hate the fact that there is going to be another wedding. I hate Nunzio/Crash/DeMott etc. So after I got my double dose of Mattitude and my weekly Mattimatics lesson, I turned to TNT for the Kings/Spurs game and to HBO for Ocean's Eleven.
Guest AndrewTS Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 I, for one, was not bitching about the SD6 getting repetitive. Those who did usually mentioned the problem was that they never learned from past matches with each other, and fell for the exact same spots, used the same counters, etc.
Guest notJames Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Bill DeMott has killed my interest in TE3. So has the push toward rib-pulling sports entertainment instead of, oh I don't know, TEACHING THEM TO WRESTLE!!! But Bill's semi-push at the expense of the cruiserweights has really gone too far. Let's hope it goes the way of A-hole's seemingly depushed state (as evidenced by a clean loss to Edge). And it's my unrealistic hope that it's Nunzio that takes it to the big boring bully.
Guest RedJed Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 In the past month, this show has started to lose some steam, and this week especially makes me wonder if the trend is going to continue. And it wasn't just the Angle situation, the entire show didn't seem to have the formula that was working so well which was everything having purpose and not being just a simple beatdown, or lazy promo, etc. People were made a point of being protected when need be as well, as I see all that out the window now, the focus seems lost and everything seems booked on the fly or done without much thought and purpose. To say I'm letdown after watching this show tonight is a fuckin understatement. Next week we get Show v. Angle and then the following week its the Al Wilson-Dawn Marie wedding (two wedding angles on Smackdown in less than 6 months, jeez) so I don't think it will get much better......thank god there's NWA-TNA in times like these because at this point both shows have their particular faults, thats for sure.
Guest art_vandelay Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 All you people on here who bitched that the "Smackdown-Six" were getting boring and wanted something New, well here it is! Hope You're all Friggen Happy. So were we just supposed to sit back and enjoy the same show with the same match-ups week after week? You think we were bitching for the sake of bitching, but is it so far-fetched that some of us were actually sincere about our concerns? I had almost no motivation to watch Benoit vs. Angle last night. I don't pop for Germans like I used to. They keep fighting and fighting, but all the wins and losses seem so meaningless because they have nothing to fight for. It is possible to have too much of a good thing, and I, as a vocal and passionate wrestling fan, refuse to just "shut up and enjoy the show." To remedy the repetitiveness of the SD6, just give them some time apart from each other, or give them something new to fight for (like the WWE title). Then I'll shut up.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 You know what? The fucking hosses did a better job on Smackdown than the normally good guys! Fucking A-Train tried to carry Edge, but Edge would not have it! I'll say again, Edge would not allow himself to get carried!!! Good for him. He should have been fucking furious over the Albert feud. That was his little protest.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Anglesault sticking up for Edge?
Guest AndrewTS Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Anglesault sticking up for Edge? Yup...he thinks Edge is sucking on purpose as a protest, like Jericho seemed to be. *I* I wouldn't be too worried until he starts to like Brock.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 To me it looked like Edge fucking bumped alot, then tried to salvage the shit match by doing some moves to pop the crowd, while keeping up his recent streak of selling-prowess by keeping the leg a factor in the match. Everything Albert did was lame.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Even the crowds who are suppose to be filled with Casual Fans were popping for the Work Rate. Hahahahah... Were you watching the same match at Armageddon I was? The entire crowd was sitting on their hands during Guererro vs Benoit, because they're not trained to know how to react to this kind of stuff. SD6 matches on regular TV benefit from Crowd In A Can. About the only match from this "good period" that got some good heat was the tag match at SurSer, and they had spent a dozen or so backstage skits in the past nights to buildup the heat between Los Guererros and Benoit/Angle as well as make Benoit/Angle a likable team. Plus Edge and Rey Mysterio were tossed into the mix to add flashy moves (which the crowd is trained to make noise for) and stuff. I also want to be frankly honest and say I gave in to sleep deprivation last night and fell asleep during Angle vs Benoit. We've done it so many times in the last few months that I'm starting to lose my spirit for it. However, I don't think the top of the card is as bad as you make it out to be. The midcard could use some definite work, though. When Eddy Guererro is tossed in with Billy "Boring Fodder" Kidman in a match so bad I'm playing Game Boy instead of watching TV, something is wrong.
Guest Downhome Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 I'm totally lost here, last night's SD was one of my favorite shows of the year.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 As much as it's gone downhill you still can't have the same thing with the same guys every week, they needed a break from working with each other before they totally ran out of ideas
