Guest BobBacklundRules Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 On the RAW tapings tonight, Eric Bischoff cleared up speculation for Royal Rumble. It is now official that 15 RAW guys will be in the Royal Rumble, and 15 SmackDown! guys as well. The winner of the Royal Rumble will face their brand's champion at WrestleMania. So if a RAW guy wins the Royal Rumble, then whoever is champion of RAW will be his opponent at WrestleMania. Same goes for if a SmackDown! guy wins.
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 THANK YOU GOD! The traditional, Old School Royal Rumble. I wouldn't be surprised if we get the Rumble 94 finish with a SD guy and a Raw guy with both guys going on to Mania.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Good. There was some lingering fear in the back of my head that they were going to do two separate 15-man rumbles. I'm happy with these stips, since they don't mess with the original stips of the rumble much, and it still manages to make perfect sense. By the way, Lesnar's a shoe-in.
Guest tpww7 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Where did this Raw spoiler come from?
Guest Eagan469 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Well, a 94 finish would leave a big gaping window of oppurtunity. They could have the winner from the Smackdown brand face the WWE champion at Wrestlemania/or the February PPV, and the winner from RAW face the RAW champion at Wrestlemania/or the February PPV. The winner of those 2 matches would face each other in a unification match at Mania. Makes sense.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Where did this Raw spoiler come from? A website is doing live taping coverage with a guy calling in once and a while, I'll post the complete raw spoilers when it's done.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 BackstageWrestling.com
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 So the winning brand would have the challenger determined by Rumble winner, and the other brand's challenger would seemingly be determined by storyline like in a standard ppv? Seems fair enough.
Guest tpww7 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 From reading those Raw spoilers, Raw looks really bad.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Well it's the XMas RAW- they're always eh shows
Guest Will Scarlet Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I am glad Raw is looking bad since I will not be able to watch it until early January.
Guest CanadianChick Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Can someone give a non-spoiler preview?
Guest the pinjockey Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Please tell me those spoilers are fake. Please.
Guest tpww7 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Normally it would be easy to tell if they were fake, but nowadays that could easily be real.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 ::Reads the main event spoiler:: They better be fake.
Guest the pinjockey Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Kane/RVD vs. 3MW Dlo vs. Test Trish/Stacy/Jacky vs. Victoria/Molly/Ivory Batista vs. Spike Jericho/Christian vs. BookDust Steiner vs. HHH arm-wrestling J.R./Lawler vs. ???
Guest midnight_burn Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 It's good news that it'll just be the regular 30 man Rumble, not two 15 man ones, but the rest of that Raw... ugh.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Brock or a Free Agent will win the Rumble
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Austin, maybe. I couldn't bitch about that one too much.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Brock wins, guaranteed. I say if Austin comes back, just have him hit stunners for about 5 straight minutes, then get tossed by Brock or somebody. Take the last two guys from the losing brand and toss them in a #1 Contender's match at NWO - winner gets WM shot.
Guest Human Fly Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I agree with everyone who says that Brock wins, who cares now. Everyone already knows that he's going to fight Angle at 'Mania. If there would have been 2 15 man Rumbles at least the Raw brand winner would've been a surprise.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Well they COULD make it so the Rumble still has an element of surprise even if Brock wins. They won't, but they could. They could have it where somehow a Raw and Smackdown guy both win. Or have a Raw and Smackdown guy as the last two guys and have both go over the top rope and hit the floor at exactly the same time.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 They could still do it where the winner of the Rumble puts his title shot up at the next show. They've done that like the last 3 or 4 years and it really weakens it in my opinion.
Guest Mole Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I really like this idea. I am suprised Vince would actually use a good idea, but I am sure they will screw it up somehow.
ChrisMWaters Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 They could still do it where the winner of the Rumble puts his title shot up at the next show. They've done that like the last 3 or 4 years and it really weakens it in my opinion. Actually...let's look back... I don't think they started doing that until 1999...with the whole Austin/McMahon thing... 2000 they did with the Rock Feet thing. 2001 they didn't do it. 2002...I wish the kept the PPV ending of it.
ChrisMWaters Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 Oh...and by the way... Though the Rumble 1994 result was kinda interesting...if they would have done that whole thing with the two final guys being eliminated at the same time...if I were the President, I would have stated that they both get in the ring and fight it out some more until only one is left. But that's just me...
ChrisMWaters Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Oh, by the way...I had a feeling that Vince McMahon wouldn't change the Royal Rumble format just because of the Roster split. The format for the Royal Rumble was made by one of his pals, Pat Patterson. I don't think that Vince would screw up an idea of Patterson's. Vince needs all the friends he could get.
Guest JHawk Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 But can we trust the words of Vince himself during the 95 Rumble? Lawler: "There were two winners last year!" Vince: "Well, that will never happen again, I can assure you." Just a thought.
