Guest GameCop Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Well, here's the Royal Rumble card, according to the PWTORCH NEWSLETTER: -HHH vs. Scott Steiner - World Heavyweight Title -Benoit vs. Angle - WWE Title -Jericho vs. HBK and A-TRAIN vs. THE UNDERTAKER. NOOOOOOOOOO!!! HHH vs. Steiner is not gonna be higher than a DUD. And now we've got to sit through Albert vs. The Undertaker, just because Vince wants 'Taker to look strong in his first match back. Now with 2 DUDS on the horizon, one questionable matchup (will Jericho and HBK mesh in the ring?) and a match we've seen numerous times (Benoit vs. Angle), this Rumble is shaping up to be another throw-away PPV. DAMN.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Eh- I'll wait to see it actually happen on TV before I make comment. But how are they gonna fit all this and an actual Rumble???
Guest tpww7 Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 It would make more sense for Taker to return at the Rumble and get revenge on the Big Show.. for ya know.. injuring him and all. Either way we still get a shit feud though.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 What the Hell does Albert and Taker have to do with each? Why wouldn't Taker feud with Big Show when he comes back?
Guest LatinoHeat Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 -HHH vs. Scott Steiner - World Heavyweight Title -15 mins. -Benoit vs. Angle - WWE Title -30 mins -Jericho vs. HBK -15 mins and A-TRAIN vs. THE UNDERTAKER. -5mins Royal Rumble- 100 mins total time: 165 mins= 2 hours 45 mins
Guest Banky Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Steiner vs. Triple H will surprise people. PS. Does anyone else find it odd Latino Heat has Cactus Jack in his avatar. Not that I care, just the name and avatar seem like an odd combination.
Guest Mole Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Hey, if I get to see a match when Steiner kicks the shit out of Triple-Juice, I'm all for it.
Guest GameCop Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 UMMM... don't forget entrances and backstage segments. Entrances alone should take over 15 minutes. And, btw, the longest Rumble ever is 71 minutes long (RR 2002). On average, however, the Rumble is between 60 and 63 minutes long. This is probably how much time each match will be given: HHH vs. Steiner - 12 min. Angle vs. Benoit - 22 min. HBK vs. Y2J - 15 min. A-Train vs. Undertaker - 8 min Royal Rumble match - 64 min. That's a total of 121 minutes. Along with entrances (15 min), backstage segments (10 min.), WWE commercials (4 min), and video packages (10 min) you've barely got yourself a 2 hour and 45 minute PPV. If the last PPV was any indication, WWE may try to fill up 2 hours and 55 minutes...
Guest LatinoHeat Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Ugh..how i hate backstage segments. PS. Does anyone else find it odd Latino Heat has Cactus Jack in his avatar. Not that I care, just the name and avatar seem like an odd combination. I'm a Foley "mark" if you weeeeeeeeel.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Steiner vs. Triple H will surprise people. Steiner's foot is falling off and HHH has proven his lack of worth this year.
Guest tpww7 Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Maybe it will surprise us by both of them getting career ending injuries. Wait, that wouldn't be a surprise would it? As long as Angle- Benoit gets 20 mins I'll be happy.
Guest caboose Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I love Kurt Angle as much as anyone on this board, except AngleSaualt and AnglePlex, their love is so deep. And I enjoy most Benoit matches, but I would not be willing to spend money on the Royal Rumble at this time. If Austin gatecrashes the 10th Anniversary RAW, then I might be tempted.
Guest BorneAgain Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Steiner vs. Triple H will surprise people. I don't know guys. After that strenuous match they had on the taped Raw, I'm not sure they take a one-on-one contest. (end saracasm mode) Seriously though, if Steiner vs HHH gets higher than ** I'll be shocked.
Guest TheGame2705 Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I wouldn't mind seeing this. It'd be interesting to see HHH/Steiner. They both have their boring moves and I'd wonder if Triple H would tap to the Recliner. I personally like Albert and don't mind Taker. I don't wanna see Jericho/HBK as I hate both guys but I know they could put on something good if they tried to. I would wanna see what new stuff Benoit and Angle could come up with to add onto their matches. If anything they'll have extra time to add a short BookDust/Storm-Regal match.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I wonder if Steiner will really pull hard should he put HGH in the Recliner. I remember one time in WCW when he put it on Bossman, and Bossman passed out due to the pain.
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I get to see Angle vs. Benoit live and in person in Boston, MA. I could give a fuck what else happens (minus the Rumble).

Guest The Hamburglar Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Hey, at least the Rumble will have a defined storyline to it this year. SPOILERIFIC Firstly, the wrestlers won't just be fighting for their own spot in the WM main event, but for the prestige of their respective brands attaining WM main event status. Should add another dimension to it, make it seem more important. On the Smackdown side, this is the only way Brock can get a title shot. Thus, Team Angle and the Big Show will be acting as hitmen trying to take Brock out of it rather than win it out right. The ingredients are there for the Rumble to be somewhat nifty.

Yes, but WWE won't play up any of those factors. They'll be to busy with Albert/Taker, HHH/Steiner, and Demott squashing cruisers. All of their TV time will be gone by then.
Guest caboose Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I'd still be more hyped if there was one champion, and the rumble was for a shot at that one champion. Because this year, minus the obvious winner Brock, there are so many wrestlers who could feasibly win the Rumble and face the champion.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I get to see Angle vs. Benoit live and in person in Boston, MA. I could give a fuck what else happens (minus the Rumble). You don't want to see the Bible Buddies EXPLODE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Bloody heathen...

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I bet a couple cruisers get flung out of the ring ala Shannon Moore, courtesy of Brock. That should be amusing.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Didn't someone report that Dundertaker took Albert under his wing earlier this year? I remember UT actually jobbing to him, once. I must say, I'm glad Edge isn't tied up with A-Train, and I'm glad A-Train is about to get buried. At least... I hope he's gonna get buried.
