Guest PhillyDogg Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 the rumor about the recent UFC pay per view having a higher buyrate then Armageddon. For the longest time I thought the UFC stopped having pay per views because I haven't seen any ads for a UFC pay per view in a few years. I kind of have mixed feeling if I want the WWE to turn things around because if the WWE does go under, then no more wrestling on the other hand it would serve Vinny Mac right for causing so many other federations to go out of business in the past. Before the WWE went to shit and when the ratings where good Vince would be so cocky "This is sports entertainmet Ha, Ha,Ha," now the WWE is on their hands and knees begging for Austin and The Rock to come back.
Guest Bricks Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 But it was Ortiz vs Shamrock! The most highly anticipated UFC match ever. And Armaggedon was a throwaway show anyways. But Ortiz killing Shamrock! I don't think they should hang their head in shame if UFC beat them.
Guest Angle-plex Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Good. It will give WWE some competition.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 UFC is still going on? Other things the WWF should hang their heads in shame if... RVD never wins the title Kurt Angle is never made a star Jericho never overcomes HHH Add on!
Guest razazteca Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 If the New Year UFC show does a bigger buyrate than the WWE event of December.

The fact of the matter is... Vince is a businessman and he runs a business... alot of die hard old school fans that hate McMahon fail to realize that his tactics are normal and quite common in this world
Guest MaddDogg555 Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 I believe this was reported on one of these bogus wrestling news sites and on an MMA news sites. I read the report on the MMA news site and it claimed that this was reported by the Torch newsletter. I'm a Torch subscriber and they didn't exactly report that the UFC PPV outdrew WWE Armaggedon. The Torch only mentioned that early estimates show that this may have been the worse WWE PPV buyrate in a few years. The Torch reported that if the final numbers for both shows hold up that the UFC buyrate might have been close to that of Armaggedon. The person reporting this on that MMA site seems to be notorious for reporting made up stories on wrestling sites or stealing news from the Torch and the Observer. I hate it when these people incorrectly report Torch and Observer news bits. Most of the time they word things wrongly and they mislead readers.
Guest Mole Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Plus the fact that this is the 12th most important PPV. Besides, who was the champion going into the PPV? The Big Show? Yeah, that man can draw... And what is your source? Let me guess, WrestlingInc.com....
Guest Angle-plex Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 I'm pretty sure the buyrate for UFC was only about 0.35. I'm sure Armageddon did better than that.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Kurt Angle is never made a star ???? O_o They've only thrown every title they got, from Euro belt to King of the Ring to Heavyweight Champ on the guy, and they proudly prattle off all his accomplishments. Just because he's not a main marketing force of the company or has yet to reach legend status with the Hogans and Austins doesn't mean they're totally misusing him. As for Jericho, I agree. I'm slowly starting to come around to like Chris Jericho. I still think RVD as champ is just incredibly fucking stupid unless they suddently do something like move the entire SD!6 over to Raw in exchange for HHH or something. There's only three guys currently on RAW who could carry him to exciting matches, and only a few more that could pass watchable.
