Guest Vern Gagne Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 After Show's terrific performance on Conan last night. What wrestler does the best job when he's on a talk show? Show is good, Foley is good, Rock is good (although he seems like a phoney).
Guest IB2BLACK Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I guess you can say The Rock. Also, Vince. I just heard a tape of him when he was on Stern, right when the XFL, came out. It was good.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 "Jericho-uh is not ready for the big time-uh"
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I agree with the ones you've mentioned. I've listened to Hunter do some shows like Best Damn Sports Show, Period! and the early morning SportingNews Radio show and thought he did a pretty good job, but he talked a bit too much about bodybuilding instead of the PPV(No Mercy on both accounts). Also, Austin's not too bad in what I've seen him do(basically Live with Regis and Kathy Lee).
Guest bob_barron Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 The Rock always comes off as very well spoken and he makes wrestling look better with his humble tone
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I remember Austin going on Live to promote Summerslam 98. He started off and said that he was facing Taker at the PPV. Regis immediately follows up with something along the lines of "Ooh, Undertaker, he's good. And you also have to watch out for that sneaky Paul Bearer running around with him." Awkward silence followed.
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Austin was good on Conan O'Brien as well. Rock obviously is the biggest star as of right now, so he's a good representation. Hogan as well...Foley and Show seem like down to earth people.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I think the Regis I caught with Austin was the pre-WM 14 one against HBK. It was pretty damn good and from the sounds of it, a LOT better than the pre-SummerSlam 98 one.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Oh, aside from that, Pre Summerslam was very good.

It was pretty damn good and from the sounds of it, a LOT better than the pre-SummerSlam 98 one. I have the WM 14 one on tape...it was really good, Philbin has a "Philbin 911" shirt on.
Guest HHHater Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Bret was the best wrestling ambassador.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Didn't Regis used to take a safe version of the moves on the show from a lot of wrestlers? For a fucking 70 year old, I always thought that was impressive.

Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Now Gellman does, I'm pretty sure. But I think in one week, like five of them came to promote the cookbook, and he let them all do a move.

Heh, I remember that Regis asked Austin for his "mean" look and damn near ran away when Steve got close to his face. Man, that was great.

Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I think it's safe to say that anyone on Live ends up being really good, because Regis does have a lot of "cred" and he really does try to make them look good.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Can't argue that, AS. I think Conan is the same way. His bit with Big Show was great as he didn't babble like an idiot and just played off of Show.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Didn't see it, but I heard it was really funny.
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 It was hilarious...and Selleck and Show have REALLY good chemistry...I'd love to see WWE try do get Selleck to show up for a show or something..hell, have him wrestle with Show or something.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I'd love to see WWE try do get Selleck to show up for a show or something..hell, have him wrestle with Show or something. That might be cool. hell, have him wrestle with Show or something. No.
Guest Steviekick Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Bret was the best wrestling ambassador. Hell's yeah After seeing Edge on Confidential doing some appearances for the WM X9 in Seattle, he seems like he'd do a good job talking for the company. Angle is also a good choice...he was on Conan a while back and seemed very intelligent.
Guest wwF1587 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 600th Post! Id say Bret represtents wrestling best... with rocky coming ever soo close
Guest Choken One Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Almost all the wrestlers look good on Conan and Regis since they are somewhat knowledable about wrestling. Hogan, Austin, Rock, Show, H3, Angle, Foley, and to an extent, Lesnar have been great representations.
Guest bob_barron Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Andy Richter is a big wrestling fan so I think he used to Conan in about the wrestlers so Conan would know what he was talking about
Guest Choken One Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Yeah, you can tell that he watches or at least researches about the wrestlers. The Best Damn Show is the best since Kruk, Arnold and Farr are huge fans and often do Wrestling related segments. When they interview Goldberg, Austin, Savage, HHH, Rock, Angle and the others...they seem like old time marks.
Guest HHHater Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 The Rock comes across as real phony and insincere. Probably because he is.
Guest Choken One Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Rock is different from the Shows and HHH's and Austins...Rock is trying to look cookie cutter for his hollywood friends and not look like a wrestler but moreso a Actor who does Wrestling as a side project.
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 I'd love to see WWE try do get Selleck to show up for a show or something..hell, have him wrestle with Show or something. That might be cool. hell, have him wrestle with Show or something. No. LoL, okay...your right. But still, just an apperance of some sort would be pretty cool.
