Guest BobBacklundRules Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 ALBANY, N.Y. -- The temperature outside the Pepsi Arena was at a record-setting low, but that wasn't the only reason the back of Eddie Guerrero's neck was feeling a deep chill. There was also that matter of several inches of hair missing. Arguably the most famous hairstyle in all of sports entertainment -- Eddie's legendary mullet -- is now but a memory, and the newly close-cropped Guerrero is having a few second thoughts about his new coif. "I regret doing it now, because I've had so much feedback about the mullet," he said. "It was a combination of two things. My hair started curling up on top, and I hated it. I hate when it does that, and I couldn't get it straight. That was one reason I cut it. The other was change. I hadn't changed it up in a while and I felt like I needed to." Aside from the feedback, the sub-zero temperatures in Albany also might have been giving Guerrero reason to doubt his decision. He was wearing a knit cap to keep the top of his head warm, but the long locks that once covered the back of his neck were gone, leaving bare skin exposed to face the brutal elements. "Oh, yeah, My neck feels cold. I'm not used to it," he said. "It's a big change. I mean, look at this -- I'm giving an interview about my hair. I never imagined I'd ever do an interview about my hair. I guess that shows that the mullet was really over." The change came as a shock both to fans and to the rest of the WWE locker room. It was long believed that if Eddie's mullet was ever going to come off, it would have to be on the losing end of a Hair vs. Hair match, or some other hair-related stipulation. The reaction to his new 'do caught Eddie a little off-guard. "I didn't know how over [the mullet] was I cut it off. It was one of those 'don't know what you've got until it's gone' things," he said. "I tried doing shirts about it, but I never felt it got over, because nobody ever did anything with it. But it's a good change." "Everybody in the locker room was going, 'What happened? Where's the mullet?' he said. "I think a lot of people liked the mullet. But I get a lot of opinions. Some people think the shorter hair makes me look nicer. My mom said that. She liked the mullet, but she's always going to say I look good. Vince [McMahon] really likes the short hair." Fortunately for all the mullet-a-maniacs out there, Eddie has not ruled out a comeback for his glorious hair. "Who knows? I might grow it back," he said. "The 2003 mullet might be something different. It wouldn't take long with my hair. It grows real quick. I could have a mullet in no time."
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 The only bad part: since it will come back gradually, we won't really notice much as it grows in--although, Mulletmania will come back, I'm sure of it. MULLET!! MULLET!! MULLET!!
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I liked his hair back when he came in and up to about after he ended his program with Chyna. I wasn't a fan of the huge mullet that was happening in recent weeks though.
Guest art_vandelay Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Fuck, well if Vince REALLY likes the short hair, then we probably won't see it again. "I didn't know how over [the mullet] was I cut it off. It was one of those 'don't know what you've got until it's gone' things," he said. "I tried doing shirts about it, but I never felt it got over, because nobody ever did anything with it. But it's a good change." I would have definitely bought one of those shirts.
