Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 You know I was just wondering how this Hogan/Vince storyline and match should go? I mean in all actuality it should be Hogan dominating Vince and then squashing Vince in the match. Because let's face it in real life Hogan's a legend. And in storyline terms he's this super human larger than life legend. And the guy has not jobbed a lot and he has beaten a lot of current and past WWE stars. And he's held the world title 6 times. How's it going to look when a 50 some odd year old non-wrestler can go toe to toe with him in the ring and win some outside the ring beatdowns!? It's going to look terrible not just for Hogan but for everyone he's gone over. Does this mean that Vince can easily defeat Randy Savage? Can Vince easily beat Andre? I mean he didn't have to much trouble smacking Hogan around did he?(if this storyline plays out how we think) Yes Vince jobbed to Flair but he still made himself appear to be on Flair's level. Let's not have that repeated. And unfortunately for this match to be worth a damn or to draw they have to make him appear on Hogan's level.......that's just bad business.....
Guest Sakura Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 No, not really. The thing with Flair is that once you retire you suddenly lose all your super wrestling powers. Like Foley is a hardcore icon but as commish if someone hits him he is KOed. They just have to build it up as Vince saying Hogan is a has been, doesn't have it anymore, shouldn't be around, lost to Angle and Brock badly, ect. and then when Hogan does win, he proves Vince wrong and goes on to his "final run".
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I think it's really simple: Rock beats Hogan at No Way Out via Vince screwjob, and Hogan beats Vince at Wrestlemania.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I know but in that match will they portray Vince on Hogan's level? I mean to protect Hogan's rep and all the people he's gone over's rep then Hogan needs to humiliate Vince and totally squash him. But you can't do that b/c you'd also have to have Hogan squash Vince leading up to it but once again you can't do any of this because it would be bad for fan interest knowing Hogan's going to squash him and bad for the fans when they watch it and Hogan just squash's him. That is why this angle is shitty business.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Hogan and Vince should continue to battle-on about who made the WWF. Have clips/montages/whatever showing hulks run and have people talk about his relationship to Vince. Then at WM have Hogan come down (to real FUCKIN american ! Fuck, I like Voodoo Chile but it's just not the same) with all the past 'legends' from the 80's (try to get anyone and everyone) and have them surround the ring (ghosts of christmas past) and have Hogan dominate. Then have them leave during the match and have the Rock, Austin, etc. come out (ghost of christmas present) and Have Vince get the upper hand. THEN have Edge, Cena, etc. come out (ghost of christmas future) and surround the ring and start to cheer on Hogan, give Hogan the strength, they, who were once hulkamaniacs now cheering on former hero, now equal. Hogan comes back, leg drop, 1-2-3. Everyone comes to the ring to celebrate. Yada Yada Yada, continue on... Sure, it's high concept like a motherfucker, but it needs to have a big story behind it.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Oh yeah, the moral of the story is - THE WRESTLERS make the WWF - not one man like Hogan, not one promoter like Vince... Or they could be even higher concept and have the fans finally come out in the end with their WWF merch on and cheer on the match.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Yeah that's a really great idea Rudo. I'm dead serious it is great. Unfortunately A) You're smarter than the WWE's writers B) Most of the fans wouldn't get it b/c none of them want to think and want to see "ACTION! IN MY FACE! NOW!" So yeah I think it's a great idea unfortunately you catered a high concept idea to a low brow audience. I know it makes me want to cry to. Unless they could get Cole and Tazz to play it up on the mic.....they are getting good at noticing things like that lately. Hell I was shocked when at Invasion Cole said "A little bit of symbolism. The WWF is dominating the ring while the upstart Alliance surrounds it." So yes it could work if the announcers explain it to the masses. But once again great idea man.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 It depends on how they play it up. They could have one group of people saying that Hogan made the WWF and have another group saying that Vince did. Hogan wouldn't be exactly with the pro-hogan side - he has to maintain his humbleness to make it work - And have Vince with the pro-vince side and soaking it all in. Have his ass kissers, blind followers etc. They could have Hogan walk around back stage all angry at what Vince is saying and doing and have a guy like Snuka in the background and Hogan sees him, draw a blank stare and run off like he's seen a ghost. Then have him in deep thought and finally meet up with Snuka (for example, could be anyone from that 'old school') and have them just look at each other and shake hands. Have Tazz and Cole say, "I think Hogan has just realized something". Have Hogan go around backstage talking to the young guys, saying how any one of them if they worked hard could be where he was at in the 80's. Sorta like a born-again christian, cept less lame. Vince could wonder what changed Hogan, call him out, Hogan can say that he realized something - something that vince will learn at WM. Then after the match at WM and all is said and done, have Hogan say that the wrestlers make the WWF and the fans make the WWF. Then they can proceed with Angle/Lesnar, or Benoit/Whoever, or Edge/whoever. Symbolism...mmm...
Guest TheGame2705 Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Sorta like a born-again christian, cept less lame. I think that was uncalled for and disrespectful. Vince/Hogan shouldn't be complex because it's not like Vince can fight him in tags on RAW or interfere. It should be just arguing about how Vince made Hogan but Hogan made WWE or something.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Ah blow it out your ass churchie. Born Agains ARE lame. With their "oh you gotta believe in JEEEEsus" and crap like that.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Leopards don't change their spots. The only reason born agains become born again is because they actually got scared into believing in heaven and hell and realize that all their past shit would catch up with them. Shawn Michaels: Montreal, gay love with Vince and Co., Partying, Drugs. Sting: Partying, sex with groupies, being carried for so long by Flair without trying. Now ~Eddy Guerrero~, there's a fuckin Christian you can admire. No bullshit, no changing your tune, he's all about the grace of God and Cheating to Win. Simple as vanilla pie, muthafuckas.
Guest Si82 Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I think it's really simple: Rock beats Hogan at No Way Out via Vince screwjob, and Hogan beats Vince at Wrestlemania. I totally agree. This is how it should go, in my opinion.
Guest notJames Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Judging the two participants and past usage of non-wrestling luminaries in high-profile matches, Hogan v. McMahon at WM will most likely be no holds barred, with lots of run-ins on McMahon's part, which will all be for naught as Hogan gets a chairshot in (hero that he is) and wins with the legdrop.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Its simple. Have Rock virtually cripple Hogan at No Way Out and then have him further beat the piss out of Hogan before the Hogan-Vince match. Bob's your uncle, you have Vince with the upper hand until Hogan eventually makes his comeback. Its not like the match needs to be long.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Hmm.....I discounted the thought of gratutious heel run ins. Yes that would work.
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Vince will beat Hogan. You know his ego after all, and the result anyway isn't going to help/hurt anyone really.

People like HBK annoy me, and I am a Christian. However, acting the way they do, instead of just DOing the right thing all the time, is what exposes them. HBK so far has taken an on-air verbal low-blow to Bret Hart, won the World Title from HHH, and made Jericho look like a bitch constantly except for when he was eliminated at the Rumble. THEN he helped Test eliminated HBK like a sore loser (I know as a character, but HBK has on air been playing the Holy Bible Kid role, so it comes off as hypocritical), mocked Jericho's pants and beat up our former tag champs by himself, and just before that said... "A real man takes responsibility for his actions." HBK is just as much of a fuckwad as ever from what I've seen. Demons attacked Nash's quad--yeah, sure. It's more likely God was sick of watching him wrestle. If HBK puts over Jericho at WM I'll maybe change my mind, but I've seen nothing to change my mind so far. There are ways to make HBK look good without being a sore loser, hypocrite, a liar, and an asshole. They haven't tried that.
