Of what character , or what modification of the character Austin wil play when he comes back?

As in the funny, WHAT? Austin?

personally I hope not..I mean the feeling I had was that when his 2nd walking out happened ..they had the pefect character motivation for his return as the 96/97 hating everyone Stone Cold

these stupid skits at the bars and with Buford just screamed that he'll be singing margaritaville and other kareokee songs etc

and telling those WHAT awful What long What stories What just so the crowd what can chant what WHAT?

I mean that "version" was entertaining and if there are people that like it , fine..but to me that just seems like a waste

He will have no choice but to be the character he was right when he left. The same Austin with the attitude he's had for years, with a hint of "What!?" mixed in.

There is no way they will totally drop and ignore that, the fans will have no part of it. You know, as well as I, that the VERY first time he speaks, the "What!?" chat will be louder than ever, there is no way around it.

Not really. Austin always played little games like that even before he was the 'what' Austin.

I'd rather have a no-nonsense Austin that just wants to fight...and doesn't care about "WHAT?"s...

Yeah I figured they cant just dump it because X % of the audience would be pissed

maybe he can just do it off camera for the live fans

truthfully thats what WWE should do more of for those types of things so they dont become so old to the viewers who are sick of it after they got to "audience participate"

see also Hogan wrestling because alot of people want to see him live but as evidenced during the last title push it doesnt translate into people wanting to see him every week

By the way, this isn't the first time we've had a "Where in Texas is Austin" angle. I do believe Vince did this exact same thing once, a few years ago.

they probably did

and I probably blocked it out :)

Those "what" chants still continue to annoy me.

It was funny as hell at first....especially when Austin first did it.

Austin did disappear from WWF for a few weeks before back then Vince found Steve in a bar and begged him to come back as the RATTLE SNAKE NO NONSENSE ASS KICKER this was during the time period when Kurt Angle was the comical side kick and Austin was a singing cowboy who only wanted to hug everyone.

No I don't think it was a few weeks was it? He asked him one week and Steve walked out and the next week he found him.

Actually I believe the incident you're refering to was when Vince followed Austin in a bar along with Brisco and Patterson in Febuary 99. He wanted to provoke Austin because if Steve hit him it would violate his contract and Austin would get fired and therefore would be unable wrestle McMahon at the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

I remember Austin just chillin' at a bar w/ Debra playing pool and then all of a sudden he put the pool cue down and told Debra c'mon let's go and at the end of the show he ended up in the arena, stunners for everyone and the old rattlesnake was back. I don't think Vince found him at all. Then he turned on WWF to join the Alliance at the next PPV.

With that said, I'm hoping he comes back as the rattlesnake and drops the What, but that might be too hard to do.

You might also be thinking of the old WCW Foley vignettes or whatever. I remember him talking about them in his book and when I first read that Bisch went off looking for Austin on RAW all I could think of was Mick's description of that.

And I shuddered.

Yup. That is one of my favorite RAW episodes actually. I remembered one skit in which Patterson or Brisco (I forget) tried to pick up a woman at the bar only to get turned down. I also remembered Vince complaning about Texas food while Brisco ate Barbecue Buffalo Wings. That was also the night when Rock challenged Mankind to their Last Man Standing Match at St. Valentine's Day Massacare. That was a memorable week in my life as I went on one AWESOME school field trip to an amusement park! So that episode is special to me because it reminds me of that great trip. Good times!

Austin has to be serious....otherwise what's the point of bringing him back. Comedy can't spike the ratings....ok except for the Rock/Mankind skit.

I remember the 99 skits! Those were so funny. Brisco and Patterson are stuffing their faces, and Vince is like "what is this stuff" and Brisco says: "Its brisket Mr. Mcmahon! It's delicious, try some!" So Vince tries some and says "you call this crap food?" and Brisco and Patterson IMMEDIATELy start calling for the waitress saying how bad it is, even though just moments before they were gobbling it up. haha.

As for the Whats, the first sketch (which I understand was in Espanol!) was defenenitely intended for the crowd to chant What, which we all picked up on imeediately.

"Mr. Bishoff I can't hear you"

WHAT?

"Chief, hello?"

WHAT?

Actually Mik at Cornell what happened was he was watching the Freddie Blassie speech and he smashed the pool cue on the table and Debra started yelling for him because he just took off an left her.

There was also a bar skit with Austin right before he left the WWE, where he and Debra were in some country western bar watching karoke and then Eddie came in and got a beer bottle smashed over his head.

Man they really did like to use bar skits for Austin. No man spends that much time in a bar! *checks all the bars in Norman* see I was right! No men! Just college students!

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I like the "what" chants for the simple reason that it's an easy way for the audience to show they don't give a shit.

Steiner got "What" chants not too long ago, and he's supposed to be the face.
