What I want to see Monday

What they should do now for Monday is just do a classic solo promo (ala the Brock Lesnar one on Smackdown) where Austin is just there talking about Bischoff and what went down in WCW and obviously sprinkle in lots of footage.

I can see some great Austin lines coming out like maybe "...Yeah Austin vs. McMahon. Heh, that was fun. But you know Eric. As much as I don't like Vince, as much as I love to give him hell. I don't see him when I attack him. No. Every stunner, every Lou Theez Press, every punch, every mind game, every shot up the ass with an emena. It wasn't Vince's face I was thinking about. It was you, Eric! Thats right. I wasn't stunning Vince McMahon at Madison Square Garden, I wasn't sticking a metal rod up his ass, I wasn't attacking his bum leg, I wasn't playing mind games with him, I was doing it with you. Eric Bischoff..."

Of course we won't but it'd be nice to at least ACKNOWLDGE the past between them, and yeah they did on Confidential and it was brought up on Raw, but it makes perfect sence to kind of do a promo in the same style of some of the classic ECW Austin promos

Just a thought

I doubt we'll see Austin appear on TV before No Way Out.

It would hurt the buyrate.

That's what No Way Out is all about.

Hogan/Rock 2 and the return of Austin.

Who needs good wrestling...we're making money here.

Oh wait.. no...

once you have their money, why add to the product.

bps is correct.

But let's not go talking about Austin and ECW promos. With Hogan back we might get treated to a repeat of Austin's infamous appearance with a hellw shirt that he rips off, babbling about something.

Sorry. This post made me think of that ECW promo he did. I wish I still had the DVD with it on it.

Anyways. That would be quite the promo to show. I wouldn't mind seeing it myself. Unfortunately, as bps said, the buyrate is most important to them right now.

EDIT: I don't know what in the world, "hellw" is. I'll leave it for potential comedic value. It's supposed to be, "yellow".

I'd love to write the whole idea I came up with but I just don't have the time, but the jist would be Austin despite being THE MAN in the WWF for so long, all the titles, merchandise, sellouts, PPV Main Events he still wants to kill Eric Bischoff for letting him go the way he did, and "come Sunday Austin 3:16 will say not only will your ass be mine, but you will get a brush with greatness. And thats the bottom line...(walks off, end of promo)"

It'd be one hell of a promo though. Shame they transformed Austin from the pyschotic serial killer attitude to the WHAT-ING Jeff Foxworthy with an attitude.

I find it funny how little confidence WWE has in their ability to promote things properly.

Austin should have returned a month ago with no notice got locked in a great feud with someone and had the big match at No Way Out. It gives them ratings, an unpredictable atmosphere which is currently gone, gives the fans a great surprise as well as improve the buyrate for NWO because a huge match would draw more than an appearance.

You seem to be complaining just for the sake of complaining.

Yes, it is all about getting good buyrates. Pay Per View buys make the company money, not TV ratings. I don't see what your problem is with that. The WWE could hot shot Austin's return by having him show up on TV. It may get a good rating for that night, it may not. But then what? That one good rating isn't going to do them any good from a monetary perspective. It seems to me the smarter thing to do would be to wait for the PPV so you can actually earn something off of Austin's return.

The Rock/Hogan match part also comes off as just random complaining. No, it won't be a really good wrestling match. However, it should be a smartly worked match, as their Wrestlemania match was very smartly worked (albeit not a well "wrestled" match). It has a solid backstory and is a legit big draw. So where's the problem?

I am not making excuses or anything, because there are tons of things the WWE could be doing differently including the build/matches for No Way Out. However, to complain about a re-match from the main event of last year's WM (that drew) and having Austin return on PPV instead of TV in order to get money out of his return is just silly in my eyes.

Would more good wrestling matches at NWO be nice? Absolutely, but Austin's return and Rock/Hogan aren't getting in the way of that and both are important to the PPV as well.

I can honestly say that after half a decade, I don't give a shit about watching an Austin promo where he bitches out Bischoff.

Now, if Austin was to come out and explain, in detail, exactly just how much the writers and certain workers *coughHHHcough* are ruining the company, than I would be riveted.

Shit, cancel No Way Out, and just have a 3 hour shoot interview special with Austin instead, where he can say EVERYTHING he wants to about the company. I'd pay the 30 bucks just to hear him punk out Gerwitz alone.

I second that. They should devote a huge segment to Austin on one Raw to really tell it like it is, in front of the thousands present and the millions watching. Raw is Shoot would be a sweet idea. Vince would NEVER go for it.

Shoot interviews, eh? Yeah, we're about there as the WWE continues on THE ROAD TO BECOMING WCW.

Sorry, but someone was gonna say it.

Here's an idea. Instead of Austin coming out and "shooting" on HHH and creative they could change things behind the scenes and NOT bury the product and turn off the viewing audience.

I'm complaining because the company is still refusing to sell a product based on wrestling despite having the largest wealth of talent they have ever had.

Austin returns to face a non wrestler

Hogan wrestles against the Rock again

HHH/Steiner 2

Ugh.

That's not complaining for sake of complaining that's complaining because they aren't leaving time for any actual workers.

Austin doing a promo ala Brock Lesnar means he is going to bored the crowd with his promo.

I'm kind of concerned because I don't think there's more than a small handful of viewers that would understand. This is like making an angle off Bischoff firing Davey Boy while he was still in the hospital. How would most people know about that stuff?

I'd be more afraid, as we'd be in more in BATB Hogan/Russo mode. WCW didn't win awards for that. It went out of business shortly afterwards.

Am I the only guy here who doesn't want to see some guy come to the ring and babble on about HHH holding guys down, wrestlers in production meetings, Brian Gerwirtz etc etc etc? That goes agains the entire point of the business! I'm not exactly preaching strict kayfaybe here, but let's be honest and admit that the one time a company tried that, they went out of business shortly after.

No thanks, save it for the net and the dirtsheets.
