Guest AndrewTS Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 The SD! segments with Rocky were quite interesting, although I didn't like the fact that I'm glancing over at the clock, and it's gone past 15 minutes. When you take into account that there was no opening, and the Hogan segment, he was nearly HHH-levels all over the show. At least he was entertaining, at least. Too entertaining. I think that maybe some of the newer heel actions will just make him a face quicker. He SHOULD be basically doing the stale old stuff he was doing when he came back while acting like an asshole, instead of acting the way he is now. Plus, this being his first live appearance back, maybe the face pops will fade. However, spitting in Hogan's hand was a great way to get heat. Chastising the fans for singing along was too. Any other ideas for changes he should make? A few of my own: The People's Elbow--can't keep doing it. When he faces Hogan, he should tease it with the spinebuster and pose, and then either a) stop before doing the move, and instead pick up Hogan and hit a Rock Bottom or b) do another move in it's place--like the People's Legdrop Lenny Lane did or D'Von's People's Headbutt, just to screw with the fans' heads. Acting like a heel: Rock talking like a prick doesn't mean much if he doesn't act like one. Cheating excessively is a must, such as giving Hogan a shake-a-leg kick in his shriveled family jewels, or perhaps a post-match beatdown. Rock has had trouble going heel before, and beating the unholy hell out of Mick Foley showed off his vicious streak and really helped cement him as a heel. Hogan could probably serve the same purpose.

The "Your people call my people"s elbow. Have him take a call from his agent in the middle of a match. Have a personal assistant, a hair stylist, bodyguards, an agent, etc. Make references to herbal teas, tofu, etc. (he already did this, he needs to do more)

The guy is going back to Hollywood in 2 months anyway. There's no point in coming up with changes in his character because he isn't staying long-term. Let him have his 2 matches so he can then go back to his real passion, making movies.

Hell, I'd do it too, if I were in his place. The WWE is a sinking ship, and a prolonged run right now will probably only have one effect - to ruin his career. Look what's happened to everybody not named "HHH". Buried, one way or another. (Austin *by Vince and Co.* , RVD and Jericho *by Our Friend Trips*, and the rest of the roster by the Midcard Ceiling) If anything, it's WORTH developing his character, because unlike all the other "Main Eventers", this is the one guy with a name that'll put people over. Whoever gets to beat him at WM (again), will likely wind up getting a big rub from it. Can't say I see Austin or HHH doing the same.

Who knows, maybe that retirement rumor was a load of bull, or a hint-hint that Vince needs to give him more incentive to stick around. Then of course there is the possiblity that his movies will begin to bomb and he'll come back to work for the remainder of his contract, and maybe sign an extention. If he "retires" I'm pretty sure Vince gets a cut of the movie grossings as long as his contract runs.

The blow off / diss of his opponent by deciding he's got the guy so badly beat he can take time out to call his agent I think would be even more heelish than receiving and taking calls. Cuz let's face it: People who yammer on and on into their cellphones and blow you off to make calls are super annoying and should DIE~! So there ya go.

I would soooo fucking mark out if someone say whipped Rock into the ropes, only to have him hold on to the ropes instead of bouncing off of them... turning to the crowd and pointing to his head and mouthing "I have the brains!"

Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 As a way to maximize his use if he's around short term, and also set up a WM match with Austin (if that's what they go with), have Rock begin to ignore the brand split and appear on both shows. His rationale will be that he is "bigger" than Raw or Smackdown and "The People" want to see him since he is the biggest star in all of entertainment. Vince will agree to this since The Rock is "his guy" while Bischoff will be pleased because Rock is another big star for "his show".

Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted February 22, 2003 Report Posted February 22, 2003 I'd mark huge if he stopped right at the end of the People's elbow, just before he drops it and procedes to instead do the Eddy G boot rake and twist. He should smile more too, stop acting angry/bad ass like, thats one of the reason people liked him in the first place. Make him a blissfully happy jerk who is genuinly afraid to mess up his "movie star" looks in a match with someone "below him" and there for turns down every match he is challenged in. Hell, stick him on commentary, Rock with an open mic during a match could reach Austin heel levels of awesome.

I agree, it could also set up a spot in the match where Hogan takes the phone off him and hits him over the head with it (to a big pop from the fans )
