Montreal and Vince's Hardon for pissin them off

I wonder....is Vince really paying Montreal back for producing Pat Patterson?

we all know of the lengths of the infamous Montreal Screwjob of 97, and seems every time they go back there, Vince just wants to do something to piss the crowd off.

At first sight a wrestling fan, a Non Smark might deduce that HBK won the match with the aid of a vindictive Vince. and Earl was just doing his job.

a Wrestling fan would then deduce that HBK was just being a wrestler who was to win that night. The real badguy would have been only Vince McMahon for forcing Earl to ring the bell and award the title to Shawn....

But no. Bret comes out with Wrestling with shadows and we get that Dramatic part where Bret is talking to earl and earl SWEARS he wasn't gonna screw him over....and of course the Camera ZOOOOMS in on his face....then the match gets replayed and the same wrestling fans are SHOCKED and appald BY GAWD they did Screw bret. Because that Truthful Documentry said so.

Since the tape would have showed inflamatory stuff about McMahon and few other wrestlers in a not so good light, I had wondered why it was that the Harts never got sued for even considering airing it. then it Hit me....Vince actually approved of it. If you notice that during the tape even in the backstage area they were still going by their wrestler names.... When the match was over and Bret's wife was Interrogating Hunter in the Hallway, she was calling him Hunter.... what happend to Jean? or Michael Hickenbocker or whatever. But what was the advantage for Vince to be shown in this life to wrestling fans, getting this backstage look and such? Two things....to Legitamize the truly never before scene aspect of a Wrestler Promoter as a Viable TV character and a Heel for that matter...and to Keep a Nugget of discontent in Canada for some reason.

The You screw bret crap would probably had died down years ago had the WWE not systematically kept it alive.. during taped events Earl would actually Aggitate the Crowd between commercial breaks, as would Vince do when the cameras stop rolling. its a WWE program to screw with the Canadian Audience and to keep the Bret hart scandal on everyones minds whenever the WWE rolls into town. All because of a Screwjob event that was necessary to remove a World championship from a Outgoing wrestler who was wrestling behind the times as it were.

HBK seems to be gainning more acceptance by the Crowds thats fine, in retrospect Shawn wasn't really a contributing factor to the Debacle. Any wrestler I believe would have done the same thing if asked if he wanted to be the World champ. they might deny it on camera but come on folks wrestling in terms of scripts storylines and feuds is not real. HBK was the necessary pawn for the job to be done. This isn't excusing His Behavior in any other event. Kliq didn't really indear themselves to anyone, and they gave birth to the sluggish Kevin Nash, Hall, and HHH into Popularity, and maybe even the Spawning grounds of the nWo.

The Crowd won't cut Earl or Vince any slack if Earl under orders of Vince, and Vince himself keeps ripping away at the 6 year old scars and pouring lemon juice in it. Its a Marketing decision to keep this bullshit going and the way to get those Die hard fans to buy the tickets, since their soul purpose is to Shout YOU SCREW BRET and Cheer every Canucklehead that enters the ring.. as they should majority of every Canadian wrestler on the roster kicks ass :)

well that was my rant on the subject...any thoughts?

To be fair, you can't really say that the backstage people using gimmick names means anything.

From my (extremely limited) experience, wrestlers tend to use their gimmick names anyway, because I mean, that's what everyone who's NOT a wrestler has to call them - sooner or later, you're probably gonna pick up on it.

I've just got one thing to say about that: If you were a Canadian watching Raw in Toronto tonight and were one of the people cheering Shawn Michaels, you are not Canadian and can no longer claim as such in any way, shape or form.

Barron, you get excused for this one because you're a yank.

Ummm LOTC-

I booed him out of the building, cursed him out and yelled fuck you Shawn over and over

Good! You're progressing quite nicely. Now all that's left is to rid you of that blasted Regal affliction.....

I've hated HBK for 11 years. You can actually hear him get some boos and that was me- the camera was right on me so it picked up a lot of my noise

Barron--exactly how was the crowd reacting to him? If you tell me that there were a significant amount of boos, my faith in humanity will be restored...

Most of the crowd cheered him and actually kept looking towards the entrance waiting for him to come out.

I booed the hell out of him and basically chanted everything I could at him. There was this other guy who hated HBK but for the most part the crowd was pro-HBK

Hehe. A pal of mine in Toronto (was at X8, I thought he'd be at this show but I guess not) is like Bret Hater Numero Uno.

I asked him once if it would be cool if Bret came to the show, his response was something like "hell no, he'd get in the ring, start whining, and the joint would evacuate."

Earl brought a sign in the ring that said Brett screwed Brett.

Funny stuff

I hope Earl gets hit by a car and gets both his kneecaps broken for that.

King was hilarious in his ribbing of Earl.

I chanted: DE-PORT EARL!

In the past several years, Vince has been all about pissing off every crowd and every fan. Baits and switches, teased title reigns only to be jerked away and never brought up again--why would Montreal of all places would be treated any different?

she was calling him Hunter.... what happend to Jean?

Hunter's real name isn't "Jean." His real name is Paul Levesque. He did add the "Jean" part to his name during his stint in WCW, though. And Hunter isn't Paul Levesque. That's only his birth name.

Vince loves to piss off the fans all the time, he enjoys it way too much for some reason that sick freak.

This "Montreal Was A Work" line has been done before.

I grow weary of it; do some research.

I am a Canadian hater of HBK, but it isn't just because of Montreal.

For years of backstage politics, refusing to job, acting like a primadonna, unwarranted shoots on various wrestlers, needing a threat from the Taker to job to Austin, all of these are perfectly good reasons not to like him as a person. I can't deny the good matches he's done, but I don't like him.

Montreal is another example of his dishonesty and lack of integrity, but I believe he just happened to be handy. I think other wrestlers like Hogan and HHH would have been happy to buttfuck Bret Hart that night too.

Wrestlers use their wrestling names backstage.

(Watch the older WWE PPV tapes where they include extra footage at the end, you'll hear production people yelling stuff like "Taker is needed for his promo!" and what not Also watch Beyond the Mat. Also read Foley's books, he even talks about it.)

Wrestling With Shadows was started long before Bret had his falling out with Vince. Vince and the WWE signed contracts giving the camera crew full access to everything, since Bret was still a company man at that point. It was supposed to be a happy film about Bret's life, it only became Wrestling With Shadows because of what happened.

There is no giant conspiracy. Vince screws the Montreal crowd every time because it strokes his ego to know what power he had in '97 and he likes to tell himself "I can do whatever I want, I'M VINCE MCMAHON DAMNIT!"
