Guest Just call me Dan Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 This is truly the best theme he has ever had. I just want to say that this new theme is the epitome of bad ass. THAT is how your turn heel. A different look, totally new entrance and a new character. I know this has been done before, but The Rock turning heel was done perfect, whereas someone like Jeff Hardy changes just a bit, and can easily be thrown right back out there as a face. The real point to this is me wanting a long and clear version of his theme for my computer. Is there one out there? Kazaa doesnn't hae anything.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 The Rock turning heel was done perfect No. It should have started much earlier. Early enough that Vince wouldn't have to suffer through the Raw X crowd turning vicious on him. As usual, they fucked it up a bit, denying us Wrestling Gold and leaving us with Wrestling Bronze. Also, two pansy assed "I don't wanna turn heel but.." promos before finally doing it right kinda sux too, but I'm just pickin'. If they did it right though, they'd leave hints of doubt after what happened at WrestleMania last year instead of waiting so long. But the heel Rock character itself, though, is very cool. Presentation-wise, I don't understand how a guy can have 30 seconds of Los Angeles flyovers in his video then be announced as "From Miami, Florida."
Guest permagrinning Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 didn't watch summerslam did you? They had doubt there and the rock played up to it. True, they didn't just go low brow and embrace it right there but they built up to it. They GAVE the Rock a reason to turn heal instead of just doing it for no damn reason.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Hollywood, that's why he has those LA flyovers.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Hollywood, that's why he has those LA flyovers. Yes, but why not go full tilt and announce him as coming from Hollywood, California? Wrestler hometowns have never been acurate before (for instance, Rikishi lives in Samoa right now according to WWE Logic.) Go the whole nine yards. didn't watch summerslam did you? They had doubt there and the rock played up to it. True, they didn't just go low brow and embrace it right there but they built up to it. They had a reason at WrestleMania, a valid reason. Rock could get jealous and bitch that the crowds love Hogan more than they love him, turn and bitch and moan about Hogan, flaunt his win, etc. SummerSlam was just the crowd turning around cheering on a monster heel (a monster heel who had no heat until the show) just because they didn't like the guy. There's no way to make an angle out of that. And they DIDN'T take the hint at SummerSlam, as the Raw X incident proves.
Guest mickberna Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 (for instance, Rikishi lives in Samoa right now according to WWE Logic.) You may notice that they don't annouce his hometown. Or a lot of others such as Kane, Taker, Big Show... mostly hosses. Hurricane, too.
Guest treble charged Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I think that maybe the WWE thought that Rock would get a face reaction at Raw X because it had been awhile since he was on television. Obviously, they were wrong.
Guest bravesfan Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 The real point to this is me wanting a long and clear version of his theme for my computer. Is there one out there? Kazaa doesnn't hae anything. There actually are a few versions of his new theme floating around on Kazaa. The best one I've found on Kazaa was by finding a file called "No Way Out 2003 The Rock". O'Geese distorted the announcer's voices so that the theme came out better. It's 2:51 in length, has the ENTIRE "searchlight" sequence, and has that sweeeeeet and slow beat. Thing is, it's the original PPV version, so you get the "If You Smelll....If You Smell.....If You Smelllelelele---????....is cooking." The updated Raw version has just the "Is cooking..." echo at the beginning of the beat.

Guest nikowwf Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 The Rock turned heel just as the crowd turned on him. Why is that too late? should he have been doing heel interviews from Hollywood? niko
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I wish they would trim about 30 seconds off his entrance. It just takes too long. And not the "oh I hate you Rocky" long, but rather the, "I am changing the channel until you get to the ring in another 5 minutes" long.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I kinda like the new entrence...gives him the larger then life deal he's going after. I think he should've let Hogan win some of the verbal jousting when they were building their program, it would've helped.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I'd give him pyro with his entrance at WrestleMania precisely because he doesn't need it. I mean, he's gone Hollywood now, he'll want the greatest entrance in WM history, right? So, I figure if you give him some completely unnecessary pyro/lighting treatment, it can only add to his 'over the top' persona.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I actually downloaded that theme O'Geese put up on Kazaa, and it does for now, but I meant a pretty complete version with a better quality that isn't live. I know it's BRAND new, but I know people can get access to stuff like this.
Guest Crux Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 The entrance and music is perfect for him--I really like it.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 I know it's BRAND new, but I know people can get access to stuff like this. When it's production music. But when it's one of the few times they actually USE Jim Johnston, you just kind of have to wait until either it winds up on a CD, or until people have recorded a bazillion of his entrances and have patched together a version with no announcer talk (and varying levels of crowd noise)
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 You know, I'm actually disappointed with his new theme. I wish they would've given him the "Back Up" by 12 Stones. Back Up would've sounded much better for his music... But this is assuming that it would've been his.
Guest SP-1 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 The version from the ANTHOLOGY CD's isn't too bad either for a heel Rock, IMO. It's kind of between the older themes and the newer theme. I don't recall hearing it on TV, though.
