Guest NoCalMike Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I swear their heat/crowd reaction was the lowest tonight it has been since they came back. During the Rock/Hurricane match the crowd didn't even seem that interested, and I know it had a little to do with Hurricane, but that is The Rock for crying out loud, normally he would still generate some sort of bigger reaction. Their whole confrontation was met by near silence from the crowd. Does cleveland have a history of sucking as a crowd, or what?
Guest Johnson1620 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 It was because of the Hurricane. The promos are great! But the two of them together in a ring is a joke, and everybody realized that.
Guest Kingpk Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Actually, the sound seemed REALLY bad tonight, you couldn't really hear Lillian's intros that well. Maybe someone who was there can clarify if the crowd really was dead?
Guest EternallyLazy Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 It was because of the Hurricane. The promos are great! But the two of them together in a ring is a joke, and everybody realized that. Yeah, the match sucked... but the crowd seemed kind of dead all night
Guest The Man in Blak Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Well, it didn't help matters that the Rock and Hurricane were mixing like oil and water in the ring - I think the fact that Rock hit the chinlock early was an omen. And, honestly, I don't know what to say about Austin. I've been an Austin supporter for a long time, but I didn't want him to come back for fear of what's happened; the mystique and larger-than-life aspect of his character has been destroyed. The man doesn't look like he's having fun - he looks REALLY uncomfortable, as though he knows that there's people watching just to see if he'll self-destruct.
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Austin's voice now seems 100x more raspy and seems it is gonna go out after the first couple of sentences.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Austin's the same as he was before he left. Bad. I think the HHH/Booker segments (with the stupid shit), as well as all the screwjobs (HHH/Maven squash, The Dudleys, etc) probably killed them off.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 The Austin shit is already fucking old. He is back to doing the same monotonous shit he was doing before. Rock has changed and is entertaining and I'm glad to see him back, but this Austin shit bores the fuck out of me.
Guest Downhome Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I will be honest and say that I do not give a flying shit about Austin vs Rock. The same magic that they've had in the past simply is not there this time, not to me. Not only is it old and tired, but both of them seem to be somewhat out of place for some reason. There is just something about Austin that "isn't right" at the moment, and the way Rocky is acting just isn't meshing well with this "feud". There are only so many times you can milk a program untill it's dry, and this bitch is heading towards empty. I would be much more interested in maybe Goldberg/Rocky, Ausint/Benoit, or something like that. I just can't get into this at all, they have nothing new to give with one another. I don't know if you people remember, but when these two were REALLY fighting in the past, the crowd would go APE SHIT. Not just in places here and there, no, I'm talking EVERYWHERE they were. Tonights reaction just f'n blew, and I understand why totally. Even other times that they have been together so far (last week) haven't been anywhere NEAR the reaction this got in the past. I'm all for Rocky and Austin getting in the ring and doing their thing, but it was a mistake to take the easy out and put them in there together yet again. There are only so many times certain "big money" matches can produce big money. There are reasons why certain big money matches only happen a few times if you look throughout the history of Pro. Wrestling. Some can last a few times, just like Rocky/Austin was hot as hell the last two times they did it. This time, it's not even close, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Just look at Hogan/Rocky, the first one was on fire, but the second was just crap, there was no magic at all involved. Look how great the first Flair/Hogan match was in WCW, the retirement match was great also, but after that the big money aspect was gone basicly. This year they had the chance to do something new, to start going towards the future, and to finally get back on track, and they decided to take the easy out. I've said it before about the product right now, and I'll say it again... ...you can plate a turd with gold, but in the end, it's still a turd. It's great seeing Rocky and Austin back, but the product isn't really all that different. As a matter of fact, the past few RAW's have been very lackluster in my opinion. They need to start working on the ENTIRE product, from the opening match to the main event, because untill they do that, it isn't going to truly get any better.
Guest Downhome Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 We might just need to start realizing that the days of Austin and Rocky being "the men" in Pro. Wrestling is over. It's obvious that both of them are no longer the same. I pray that they can get back whatever they are missing right now, I really do, but we might want to just prepare ourselves for the other. Like I said, I feel a feud with a Goldberg, Benoit, or something like that could help both guys, a lot. Just something new, or something that could truly feel fresh. In short, they need a new angle to work with This is why they should have went in a NEW dirrection with WM this year, and I see it now. I was for Austin/Rocky untill I began to seen it unfold, I just don't see any reason to care about them going up against one another once again. Not only is the magic not there, but they don't really have a reason to fight. Many know that Rocky will be gone soon after anyhow, so why bother? To me Rocky doing this is just wasting his time while he's here, when he could be doing so much more. I do wish he'd tone down his comedy heelish character a bit, and just go to being a badass as he was in The Nation. As far as I'm concerned, that was his best work anyhow character wise.
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Well at least The Rock has been entertaining since has has been back. Austin mine as well not even be there. I am not sure, but it feels kind of like he is holding something back right now. Maybe since he isn't really doing anything important until WM. I mean, a rematch with Eric Bischoff next week, WTF!?! Thus far into Austin's return, I don't really see what he has added to make the show better.

I hate his heelish comedy act, and he SHOULD be the badass heel that he played up so well years ago. To me not even Rocky has made RAW be all that much better, as we still have no dirrection at all really, and the show as a whole still blows ass. As for Austin, he simply isn't even there right now, something is wrong with the guy, it's obvious. Like I said, they should both be doing something TOTALLY new right now, what they are working with currently is worn out, it's DEAD. Rocky working with Hurricane isn't going to really help anyone. If WWE doesn't build on that anymore, the fans will just totally forget about it and he'll be back where he was, that being, NOWHERE. There just isn't anything "fresh" or "new" to have the fans truly care about, to make it must see TV as it was two years ago and before. Even I can realize this, the magic of WWE is simply absent, and we need something just f'n HUGE to help things. If there's ever been a time to really shake things up, just totally, this is the time right now.
Guest Coffey Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 You think that Austin not being able to drink beer as part of his parole has anything to do with him being in the dumps? It seems that someone told him not to do the "What" as well...which is all he had before he left. Sure, the crowd still does it, but Austin has yet to say it since coming back. The Rock is gold. I have no complaints for him. The Triple H effect is what put the crowd to sleep...because they were active during the curtain jerk.
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Well isn't it ironic that a lot of us figured if Rock/Austin came to RAW at least they would give Raw a couple of good segments, and all we have now is a lost-Austin, a hilarious-HEEL-Rock, and the rest of the show still is as piss-poor as before, probably even worse since there is less time for other superstars to be showcased, sad time.
Guest Downhome Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 The Triple H effect is what put the crowd to sleep...because they were active during the curtain jerk. Good Lord, HHH isn't to blame for everything, get over him please. Austin and Rocky should be able to get any crowd into the show, period. We need to face the fact that RAW sucks overall, in almost every aspect, and that just 1-2 guys will not save it just by fighting one another.

It's pathetic really, WWE must truly be lost if they can't get things working the right way with these two guys there. You know what... ...I'm also pissed at RAW tonight, because what has been the best match of the show for the past few weeks (womens match), was only a 30 second shit fest tonight, UGH! I will say that RVD was just f'n on FIRE tonight, really. He must have done something before that match to fire him up, because he was just over the top in the short match he was in, I loved it.
Guest Coffey Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 It all goes back to the goddamn writers, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. RVD & Jericho both curtain jerk...too bad Kane is RVD's partner. Slop shit "I'm so big I'm stuck" Kane. Booker T. trying to cut promos when he don't know what he's doing... Austin can't help. He wants to be on Smackdown. The Hurricane doesn't have anyone to feud with. Lance Storm is with Regal. The Dudleyz just do random run-ins and never win a match. Jeff Hardy comes out, blows a spot...then dips. Who cares about him again? 3MW are awful..all of them. Rico included. There I said it. The women have been getting better, but why do people like Jackie get t.v. time over Molly? Too many problems. Then you throw in production fuck ups on both WWE and TNN's part and there ya go...RAW.

If you're in denial, that's fine...but the crowd had to sit through Flair & Booker talking about him, watching him getting beat up in the bathroom, punking out Maven in a promo for no reason...while the sound gets fuck up, watching him massacre Maven, then taking out Al Snow just because he was there. Throw in Jeff Hardy winning a match in a little over a minute and the women wrestling a match in a little under a minute, the commercial break of doom and you have the entire first hour of RAW. Tell me I'm wrong.

Ok, NOW you are using your head. I agree with everything you said 100% (except for Rico, he has a lot to offer that we haven't really seen). The entire show is fucked up, EVERYTHING is f'd up. It's just a big ugly mess, something of the likes of when Nitro and Thunder were at their worst. Sure we have big names, but the writing blows ass. This could be the worst I've ever seen a fed period, especially WWE, in terms of programs that is.

You did mention any of the other stuff when you said that, you made it seem like it was all HHH's fault, which in this case, IS wrong. The entire show just sucks, period, there is no reason for anyone to give a shit at all. I get what you are saying now, but before, you made it seem like it was all HHH, I now see you were just speaking in haste.
