Guest converge241 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 X7 did around 950,000 X8 did around 850,000 the "corporate prospectus spin" from WWE Inc predicts XIX will do 850,000 so what do you think the number will be? personally its Wrestlemania so it "has" to do better than any other PPV of the last year so that puts it at least in the 500,000 to 600,000 range with all the bubble fans (people who dont order ppvs or normally spend money but follow it) so how many casual or disinterested fans does this card bring to the table? even though its wornout Austin - Rock WM battle part III will bring a few my gut tells me Hogan - Vince wont but its hard to gauge that one..it might get some old school fans who hate Vince so lets say those two add 75,000 more buys i dont think any fans of music acts ever plunk down the cash to see their favorite bands play one song there (concerts on PPV do awful anyway, relatively speaking to in person ticket sales) so wont be any Limp Bizkit buys add another 25,000 of last minute something to do sunday night we saw the ads type of buys 700,000 with the decline i just cant see it higher than that and matching last year is laughable (but of cousre all companies have to spin predictions of sales figures like that during quarterly reports and what not) whats going to be scary is the post WM ratings drop..even when the product has been (generally speaking ) "good" they seem to get hit with a drop after the grandaddy
Guest Anglesault Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 2 Linda and Shane McMahon. Aactually, I'd say 800,000
Guest teke184 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 The Rumble pulled in nearly 500,000, so it shouldn't be out of line to think they'll bring in at least 600,000 for Mania unless they REALLY screw up. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and go with 650,000.
Guest nikowwf Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 750,000. that number will be enough to keep them from missing their revenue forecast. (it contains a little wiggle room...if they did 850,ooo they'd actually do beter as a company than they forecasted. i think this is because in their heart of hearts they know 850 is a stretch) niko
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 790,000 Edit: Wait!!! What the Hell is the point? We won't find out the buy rate until 6 months from now?
Guest JMA Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 600,000 This is because of the price being raised to fifty bucks.
Guest teke184 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 They get preliminary Mania buyrates within about 6-8 weeks, although the LAST time they got those they were severely downgraded by the time they got the final numbers.
Guest nikowwf Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 $50? Motherfuckers are greedy, aint they? niko
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 $50? Motherfuckers are greedy, aint they? HEY!!!! Steph has to eat, ya know!
Guest Zero_Cool Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I'll probably go over to my brother's friends house, and his flash-carded directv. This isn't boxing..we don't need it overpriced like that. Now, after Wrestlemania, they'll raise everything else up to forty, even though no one wants to see a RAW PPV.
Guest Eagan469 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 If they drew 800,000 buys in 1996: 800,000 x $34.95 = $27,960,000 revenue If they drew 800,000 buys this year: 800,000 x $49.95 = $39,960,000 They're just adjusting for inflation (and shitty business) - that's all
Guest teke184 Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 If they drew 800,000 buys in 1996: 800,000 x $34.95 = $27,960,000 revenue If they drew 800,000 buys this year: 800,000 x $49.95 = $39,960,000 They're just adjusting for inflation (and shitty business) - that's all And on the other hand... $28 million in Wrestlemania PPV revenue in 1996 took 800,000 buys while $28 million in Wrestlemania PPV revenue today takes 559,200 buys. They'll be lucky to get THAT if they're charging $50 a pop.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I say 725000 buys. Yet, I'd truly wouldn't be suprised if Wrestlemania just barely squeeks out a few more buys than RR.
Guest creativename Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 675,000. I would be truly and completely shocked if it manages to get 750,000 buys.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Where did you get that $50 figure from? My cable company is offering the show for $39.95. EDIT: Forgot to add my prediction, which is the topic of this thread. I'll say they announce 840,000 initially, with the actual final number coming in at like 800,000 even.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 600,000 because of the Angle injury and raise in price.
Guest Steviekick Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 I'm saying between 650-775,000. There is a lot of people who will still want to see Rock/Austin. If they get a really good opponent to fix the Smackdown main event, i'd see it closer to 800 K.
Guest Choken One Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 It says 39.99 for me too...that's for In Demand. Here is the problem with Buy Rates...How can they Gauge how many people actually watched WM or any PPV for that matter because at most Bars you see around 50-200 people there for the PPV. So you can't count those guys...Factor in House Parties as well...A group of 10 friends all chip in 5 bucks and watch it at one guy's place and other similar scenarios. Last year drew 850,000 with Rock/Hogan and Jericho/HHH... X7 did 950,000 with Rock/Austin. X19 Has Rock/Austin, Hogan/McMahon, Angle/Brock...Three big Main events there... I'll wil go with an surprise and say that adding in that alot of Limp Bizkit fans are 12-15 year olds and are sheep...I'll shock y'all with a 875,000 Prediction....simply because Rock/Austin draws more then you guys realize.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Last year Rumble and Mania did the same buyrate...so I could see that happenining again...however I think there are more people who watch and don't order this year than last year...and they might order because it's mania. I'll say 700,000 give or take 1 depending on if I ordre or not.
Guest converge241 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 "I'll say 700,000 give or take 1 depending on if I ordre or not. " lol 699,999 interesting side question: how many people do you think attending live in Seattle will order it at home to tape it to either see themselves on TV or just to have it?
Guest nikowwf Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 They only care about buyrates in terms of number of buys, how many peeps. If 200 peeps watch at a bar, its not bad for them cause it shows an increased interest in the product...maybe some of these peeps will order the next ppv. niko
