Guest Redhawk Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I just don't see the WWE writing team being able to keep Jones' character serious, especially if he doesn't pay instant dividends and become a fan favorite by Wrestlemania. By this time next year, and very likely much sooner, I think we'll see Jones spouting off "crikey" and "bloke" a lot in the writers attempt to make him "funny."
Guest j.o.b. squad Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 you mean he isn't already a comedy charecter
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Yeah, I'm just waiting for him to do something stupid like. "There's only one thing I love more then wrestling...and that's breakdancing." And then he busts a move. He makes me laugh as it is.
Guest Redhawk Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I'm thinking more of a Crocodile Hunter character, mixed with a little Aussie football player thing. He'll still be "mysterious," but in a Mideon-type of way.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I think in a few months he'll only be seen in a backstage promo, holding a cup of water and laughing at someone else's jokes.
Guest Redhawk Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I think in a few months he'll only be seen in a backstage promo, holding a cup of water and laughing at someone else's jokes. Except for him it'd be a cup of beer. "Coffee." "Beer?" "Co-ffee" "Bee-eer" "C-O..." "B-E..."
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Maybe he'll get into freaky role playing with Dawn Marie...the kind where he walks around in a diaper and pretends to be a baby. Really I just want to hear Nathan say "baby made a boom boom."
Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 ^ That's going into the sig
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 ^ That's going into the sig Boo Yah! I'm finally quoted in a sig, you might want to add Jones after Nathan though, so there's no doubt who it's about.
Guest AndrewTS Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 They may have to do that. At the last SD he was booed after his shitty dark match. These same fans cheered Rikishi later so you know that's pretty bad. He is being portrayed as a face, right? So comedy character may be the way to save him after he fails to generate any real fan interest.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 *Opening* *Show begins with Droz in a glass room* Droz: Wrestler Number 1709638, Nathan Jones. Contract: 3 years, Time before he is sent to OVW: 2 Months. *Nathan Jones enters the Locker room. See's the cruisers in one corner huddled up sharing what little space given, see's Benoit, Guerreros, Angle, Team Angle in another talking about various injuries and steroid techniques, see's Big Show and Albert eating at the buffet table looking at him and laughing.* *Jones is about to go up to them but up from the card table comes Taker* Taker: Hey, son, you don't wanna do that. Jones: Why not? They're laughin at me, I don't like bein laughed at. Taker: You've got a lot to learn kid. Those two guys over there, show and train, they're JR's boys. You don't mess with them unless you want trouble. Jones: JR said that he liked me, said I had a good look, said... Taker: Said you had a real future in this business? Said that you had potential? Said you reminded him of a wrestler you never heard of? Jones: Yeah, how'd you know? Taker: I've been here longer than JR has, I know pretty much everything there is to know about the WWF. Jones: You mean WWE. Taker: Whatever. Jones: So, will you teach me. *taker takes a long look at Jones. Spits out his chewing tobacco* Taker: I think I can make something outta you. Hang with me, and you'll be alright. Jones: Thanks Take. Taker: No problem Prag. Jones: That's Nathan Jones Take. Taker: Whatever. - Jesus Christ it's already started.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 see, I cant think straight right now, but Im sure theres a Nathan Jones, Austrailian for _________ (a la the Foster's beer commercial) thing coming.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 "Not soon enough" wasn't an answer? The guy has pretty much failed in everything he's done, right? (Beaten like a little bitch in Pride, Arm broken in a World's Strongest Man contest..) The sooner they fire him, the better.
Guest AndrewTS Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Maybe Nathan will get into trouble with the law. Like beat the shit out of a bellboy, or threaten a talk show host in another country, or pull another stunt at an airport like before. Although what I'm really counting on is for him to snap and throttle McMahon.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 see, I cant think straight right now, but Im sure theres a Nathan Jones, Austrailian for _________ (a la the Foster's beer commercial) thing coming. He was in an comercial for Lipton Tea or something like that over here.
