Split still on for PPV's

In the observer, it said the plans for Split PPV's is back on, even with the fact they just lost 2 main eventers on smackdown, and that rock will be gone soon.

Sigh, I don't get it. I know Vince is thick, but there is NOT enough talent over at a level to carry a PPV on EITHER roster. The PPV cards will look like TV shows with longer matches.

One interesting thing they said was if PPV levels fell, they could just go back to how it was before. If thats the case, I'm not going to order any of the split shows. I hate to miss them, but in the long term it would be better.

Maybe this will force them to create new stars, so that there will be enough big matches that people will actually tune in to....

Damn, I thought for sure I could get through that without cracking up.

Well, this does mean that the WWE will actually have to *gasp* build feuds between lower card wrestlers! Unless they go the "In your House" route and have the PPVs be only 2 hours with 5 matches or something.

On the smackdown side, they will need to PRESENT THE CRUISERWEIGHTS AS REAL TALENT, NOT JOBBERS, ALLOW THE CRUISERWEIGHTS TO HAVE MEANINFUL FEUDS, AND ALLOW THEM TO HAVE LONG MATCHES if this is going to work.

All those things at once and Vince's head may explode. They can't do ALBERT vs. SHANNON MOORE on ppv, or at all anymore if this will work.

That's really not any new news to what we already knew.

They might have to develope the cruiser divison whether they want to or not, just out of injuries.

They just need to end the split. It is worthless.

If they do develop the cruiserweight division, the best we can hope for is a half-assed push.

Half assed is better then the no assed we're getting now.

Right now we're getting better than we were a month ago. There's a title match booked ahead of time, Rey and Kidman were hanging with the tag champs, and Kendrick's got a good thing running.

i hope vince is ready for the deadly low numbers that RAW only ppvs are gonna bring.. especially if they are still 35 dollars... now SD!, despite loosing two of their best stars still has hope as long as BigShow/Albert are kept off of the cruiserweights and the main events

I disagree somewhat.. buyrates for both will be terrible but I think Smackdown's will be worse. Raw at least has Austin and HHH. I don't know who on Smackdown they expect will be drawing buyrates.

Smackdown is in trouble with Brock, Taker, Show, and Benoit as their top draws. It just doesn't look as good as Austin, Rock, HHH, Jericho, and Steiner on paper.

I don't know why you included Steiner in there.....

He use to be somebody...had I been thinking I would have put Booker in his place

Both brands do seem to be lacking in name value for the casual wrestling fan. They would propably be better off making them cheaper than they are now to increase the buyrate.

If Vince relized that the cruisers were what were drawing most of WCW's rating during the last few months perhaps he couldpull his head out of his as and realize that maybe just maybe he could make Smackdown interesting enough to draw buys for SD only PPVs. I mean you have something that is SD only to make it different from RAW but they bury them trying to make two RAWs instead of capitalizing on a difference. Remember what you were taught in school? It's the differences that make us special.

i can't think of a way to save RAW except bring back some titles, and get the belt of HHH. I mean RAW ratings have tanked since he's been champ and they feature him in every show. i'll admit, very very rarely he is entertaing but at this point I'd rather see Maven as the damn champion instead. Not that he could make the belt mean any less.

The cruisers are in line to be pushed, simply because Smackdown has no alternatives. People can blab on about hoss love forever, but to me, putting A-Train, Show, Taker and Jones into one match at the biggest show of the year reeks of limiting their screen presence. The WWE brain trust is out of touch but they know those four can't be relied on to entertain. Over the last few months they've had a definite plan for Matt Hardy, they have a high profile cruiser title match for Mania, Kidman was being seriously pushed by the announcers as a meaningful competitor and Chavo Guerrero has been seen to be in the same league as the heavyweights. Kendrick has a storyline too. If they want to bring in Ultimo it would seem that yet another cruiser feud will get exposure. Tajiri's match with HHH on the Japan tour also points to a shift in attitude towards the cruisers. Home country or not, a few years ago you would never see Tajiri vs Triple H headline any show ever, and certainly not in a 20 minute match. Split PPVs means that there has to be a strong cruiserweight and tag division on Smackdown, and the world title matches have to be able to last 20 minutes. I'm looking forward to split PPVs because logically Vince will have to turn to his better workers to fill up the time.

Is a single, two hour a show a week enough to advertise for a ppv? If the ppvs for each respective show rotate monthly, then at least it will give each "brand" some more time to build, however up to now, each show seems to have the main event, and maybe one undercard feud deemed important, and then everyone else is just kind of like maggots festering in a can of alpo dog food. They desperately need to improve the under and mid card.

Given that there will probably be the two months to push the ppvs...Id hope that the wwe will be building many new fueds and workers.

This can work...very well and very easily...if vince and his asspuppets can just do it right. Its not so hard. Just build the angles/matches/workers that people will ACTUALLY pay $$$ to watch.

Maybe they could simply charge ten dollars for each PPV (except the big four). That would certainly hurt TNA.

They just might need to charge 10 bones if they want anybody to pay for the current product...

Smackdown ppvs would be the bigger failure.

Better shows...with less people watching.

Oh...I forgot to mention that only Vince would see buyrates dropping into the lowest ever and think the answer is less star power.

And don't give me "they'll create new stars". They won't.

Been hearing that since Invasion.
