Guest raptor Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1209994 So, I'm basically freaking out about the May 31st House Show in Portland. And, the article specifically states that they want to come to Eugene, which is where I live. So, any other Oregonians on this board?
Guest Choken One Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I'm taking it that Steiner, HHH won't be there?
Guest The Tino Standard Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I love the vague terminology and loose reasoning they use for not coming to Oregon in 10 years in that article. How about this: That is the only state that requires drug testing for athletes to perform there and WWE has a roster with plenty of guys that are very likely to be 'chemically enhanced.'
Guest Choken One Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Who wants to guess what "Injury" HHH is resting during this Trip? I'll go with Strained Waist...
Guest Brian Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 It's a good thing for the Washingon-Vancouver swing.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 If its a Raw show, then it will be a weekend that Trips gets a day off. Same with Steiner, Kane and Batista.
Guest Choken One Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 Kane seems clean...He always been that size since his Unabomber days...
Guest Redhawk Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 I wonder what's the "red tape" they're talking about? Anyway, Isn't it possible that Kane was taking roids when he was Unabomber? I take it Vince won't be there, either. But what about Jeff Hardy? He's not on steroids, but he's on something.

Serously, it was pot-galore there.... Oh, and this is good for me if they come up in Vancouver. Bastards better...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 If Oregon has such strict rules for drug testing athletes, how do the Trailblazers manage to play in Portland?
Guest AllCanadian Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 The commision I believe id being reconstucted with new rules after the Portland Wrestling controversy. As according to Meltzer their drug tests do not include testing for steroids.

I attend the University of Oregon in Eugene. And yeah, it's pretty much like you described it. Weird coincidence, I'm from Humboldt County, California, which has the same reputation. Thing is, I've never touched pot in my life...
Guest franchise632 Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 there is a very big misconception that WWE didnt go to Oregon because they tested for steroids, which never was the case. However they did have very strict drug testing policies for controlled substances like Cocaine and Marijuanna. These test were regulated by the State Commission of Boxing and Wrestling. They were mandatory and very expensive. There is a bill that is about to be passed by the Oregon Legislature to deregulate Pro Wrestling in Oregon which will do away with these regulations and many other things. Which actually stems from Portland Wrestling. This same bill was on the floor back in '99 however it had bad timing as it was the same time that the Owen incident happend and they balked at passing the bill. Once again the WWE is screwing me, first I move away and they have Wrestlemania in Seatlle and now they are coming to the Rose Garden, damn you Vince, well atleast they come to the Twin Cities on occasion. Former Oregonian, most recently Salem. Now I live on the frozen tundra of Cent Minnesota.
Guest goar Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Yeah, wrestling and boxing are the only sports covered by that drug test. I always wondered why the state was so strict on wrestlers but never said one word about the Blazers or even musicians that perform in the same building the WWE would use. It doesn't matter what Vince really meant when he said that drug testing was unfair, he was right.

Guest What? Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Oh, you're hardly an Oregonian then! I'm from Portland and have a whole bunch of family in Eugene. Plus, my sister's best friend goes there. Anyway...yeah...Oregon kicks ass...NorCal blows...Whoot....
