Guest Redhawk Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 I was watching Beyond the Mat and I was thinking; when was the last time anyone's seen Terry Funk? The movie came out in like 1999 when he was supposed to be retiring. I know he came back again and I saw him on WCW TV in late-2000 or so when he was feuding with Shane Douglas. So when was the last time you saw/heard from some of the people on the list below? Maybe it was an indy show, maybe it was some random Royal Rumble appearance, maybe they're in another country, maybe it was on some wrestling documentary, maybe they're retired (I figured this wouldn't go in the Old School folder because these guys might have been seen recently). Terry Funk Bam Bam Bigelow Shane Douglas Koko B. Ware Giant Gonzalez/El Gigante Rick Steiner Konnan Juventud Guerrera La Parka Shawn Stasiak Hacksaw Jim Duggan The Pitbulls Road Dogg Gangrel Luna TAKA Michinoku Essa Rios
Guest Lightning Flik Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 (edited) Shane Douglas was last heard to be with XPW. Juvi & Konnan last been with NWA:TNA. Road Dogg is also with TNA if I remember correctly. Not wrestling anymore, but doing behind the scenes stuff... I'm not sure, I don't keep close tabs on TNA. Edited April 20, 2003 by Lightning Flik
Guest ShooterJay Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Terry Funk- XPW/3PW Bam Bam Bigelow- ? Shane Douglas- XPW Koko B. Ware- ? Giant Gonzalez/El Gigante- ? Rick Steiner- First TNA episode Konnan- ROH/XPW/TNA Juventud Guerrera- XPW/TNA La Parka- I saw a La Parka on Galavision, might not be the same one. Shawn Stasiak- that fake radio interview when he said he was coming back to WWE. Hacksaw Jim Duggan- TNA The Pitbulls- Gary Wolfe is the 3PW champ, not sure about the other one Road Dogg- TNA Gangrel- I've seen his name in indy reports. Luna- ? TAKA Michinoku- I remember Baisden writing about a killer match he had in Japan- I think it was in Z1 against Ohtani Essa Rios- Mexico with that faux-DX rudo gimmick.
Guest Choken One Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Would Anyone object to Funk coming back in for a Mid-Card angle or anything since Vince is bringing old people in... Funk can still cut a promo and still can get a pop..

Guest Choken One Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Him being Honored at A Raw in Texas and then having Nowinski or Xstain run over Funk and embarass him in front of his family... WWE will claim Funk has been retired since he left WWE in 1999 (seriously, Who will call out the OLD AGE OUTLAWS crap in WCW?)...and Now They have a bunch of old footage of Funk in NWA... Use it show him as a Fighter... Make it a nice mid-card main event for Bad Blood...(Which is in HOUSTON) Get the "Desperado" Song and use that in the Funk Vignettes... Have a bloody 10 minute brawl with Funk putting over that guy and Then Funk gives a"Thank you" promo to the ones in Houston... Walks off into the sunset and never to be see again until his next comeback in 9 months...
Guest tank_abbott Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Rick Steiner's career is over after a botched shoulder surgery has left him unable to lift his arm
Guest DawnBTVS Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 La Parka wrestled Jerry Lynn in the first MLW show shown on Sunshine Network
Guest bravesfan Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Here's another one... "The Original Rock", Don Muraco, has recently opened up a wrestling school here in his homestate. House of Pain is the name of it, I believe. He's also the figurehead "commissioner" of the local NWA affiliate, which has branched out to become HCW - Hawaii Championship Wrestling. I was planning on meeting him in July, and interview him for a project I am taking on. He's very sociable, and has an ASS-LOAD of old-school memorabilia for me to see.
