Guest Trivia247 Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 On the topic of the WWE, Joey said that if the WWE purchased the ECW video library he would not work for them. He also added that the WWE could use their money the way they want and if they bought ECW it would be good for them but if they decided to use his voice or his face, it would be in their best interest to get in touch with him before doing so. Joey said the WWE product is not as bad as some people may say right now. He feels the writing has become stale but the talent have been fine. He thinks that if the writing is against the company grain, even if it is good, it is not rewarded but instead flushed down the toilet. Joey talked of how difficult it is to score a television deal, especially now with WWE's ratings being down. He feels good with MLW being on the Sunshine network in Florida and feels that is a great place to build a company. Joey said MLW is open to expanding on to additional stations provided they are willing to work on a barter agreement. He noted that if MLW was able to do so he'd love to see the company run a show again in the New York area. Joey joked with us talking about Hulk Hogan's movie career and why we would name our radio show after a horrible Hogan flick (definitely not the reason for naming the show "No Holds Barred"). He named almost all of them and then went on to talk about Hogan's television series and then talked about the horrible reality TV craze. To hear the entire interview log on to www.noholdsbarredwrestling.com. The No Holds Barred radio show airs Sunday nights from 9 to 11pm on 101.5 WPDH FM in New York.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I use to really like Joey, but he just seems to bug me now
Guest Sakura Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Why would they need to talk to him about using footage of him if the buy the ECW library?
Guest Coffey Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I liked Joey Styles when ECW was still around. Mainly it was because he would hype the match at hand, and he usually knew what he was talking about.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Why would they need to talk to him about using footage of him if the buy the ECW library? Heyman = Business idiot. Styles = Business smart. Heyman probably did not have all his on-air talent sign the proper, airtight, "right to air" contracts, meaning that Styles could take the WWE to court and hold them up for "x" amount of dollars even after they buy the library.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Yes, Heyman = Moron would probably explain a lot of it. WWE doesn't have the right to use the ready to rumble catchphrase guy who announced main events for WCW either.
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I believe that Joey Styles Owned a Piece of ECW himself and basically jealously holds onto that piece which I suppose includes rights to ECW footage.
Guest nikowwf Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Its never been proven one way or another that Joey owns sh*t. Joey says he owns it...hell, all Joey does in his reports is try to protect his investments. THEY CANT USE ECW WITHOUT ME, THE INDY FEDERATION IM WITH HAS A TV SHOW THIS MONTH, BLAH BLAH niko
Guest The Son of Sting Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Saying you will never work for the WWE now is code for i would if they offer the right money. Acclaim own the tape library at the moment.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Joey did try and sue them for when for some reason on an Austin tape they showed a clip of Steve in ECW as The Stevester with Joey interviewing him. I don't know how that worked out.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Joey joked with us talking about Hulk Hogan's movie career and why we would name our radio show after a horrible Hogan flick (definitely not the reason for naming the show "No Holds Barred"). I think everyone wants to see - Hulk Hogan rotting away at home - the Reality TV show. That would be...awesome..
Guest Brush with Greatness Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Like YNA said, Joey already sued them and either won or settled out of court. So he's not really bullshitting when he says they better talk to him first. This is also why he has heat with WWE brass and their hesitance to bring him in back when he had a lot of buzz going around him. Also he claims no interest in working for them either.
