Guest Grand Slam Report post Posted June 16, 2003 Hearing that they were starting something, I thought (since I was pretty bored at work) that I would check it out and see what they were up to. Am I the only one that is a little... hesitant about how they are doing things? Basically, it is run exactly the same as we are, right down to the stat sheet (they added one new stat, "technical" and upped the points to 30) and writing format. Heck, they are even the IGNWF! Now I know this shouldn't bother me in the least, but somehow it does, and it bothers me greatly. It almost feels like someone is ripping off our history, passing it off as their own and building on our good name. But, when this guy named Shadow was trying to start a fed here some months ago, it was discovered that he took our stat sheet for his use. He was promptly asked to change it, or at least give credit where credit was due, which he eventually did. Should we not do something similar here? It's very much the same issue. Not to mention that the "IGNWF" name still has some value behind it, and it does feel as if they're building off that name and off the past regime's work. I guess I'm just really protective of the SWF (and the old IGNWF by extension) and I worry about crap like this. In the long run, I don't think it will be much of an issue, but I feel like we are (and were) pretty unique and I try to emphasize and protect that whenever I can. It's not like we'll be competing for membership since we're in two very different markets. Of course, another option would be to have IGN delete all of our old posts and just start completely anew...witht he IGNWF name. I don't think that's a bad idea, in that you get the IGNWF name, but you don't have to have the stigma of being a piggyback off another fed...ya know what I mean? I think it's in your best interest as a new fed to get the old IGNWF monkey off your back and start fresh, and build off the IGNWF name.
