Pretty straight forward here. Are one of those who enjoys nothing more than two men duking it out in a contest of skills or do you perfer to watch two men duke it out using vebel skills.

sportz entertainment vs.pro wrestling

ladis and gemtlemen it's the ultimate showdown. which do YOU perfer??

(i f you've ever read my posts you'd know that i like the old school style where they'd get in the ring and wrestle for 45 minutes plus. but that's just me.

First I will give some credit to Sports Entertainment... When a promo is good, when a elaborate feud is good... It cannot be equalled by anything on TV IMO.

However, when Wrestling is good... Nothing on the planet can beat it.

Wrestling, with a hint of sports entertainment in the form of quality promos.  But DOWN WITH BACKSTAGE SKITS~!

Wait, do we include feuds like Bret vs Owen in sports entertainment? or does the term 'wrestling' apply to minimally elaborate feuds?  Sports entertainment = lightning wars... Wrestling = student vs teacher, brother brother, and other archetypes found in 'wrestling'...

I can live with both. The problem with Sportz Entertainment is most of the skits suck and lack of wrestling. Back  in '97 and thru most of the "Attitude" era they had less than talented wrestlers. So they had to use the Sportz Entertainment, but RIGHT NOW the WWF is loaded with good wrestlers. So right now I want some wrestling action.

well... with the owen and bret feud the pay off was in the match.

sportz entertainment normally uses some kind of backstage shenanagins or a mass beatdown or a semi truck to give the pay off.

My favorite thing to watch is a match that goes like this:

First, it starts off with both men being introduced in their corners. Second, the crowd has to be frothy/rabib/ravenous. The wrestling has to be good. The wrestlers should be able to tell a story in the ring. Spots should be spread out. Match length should be at least twenty minutes. Especially, if a main event. The styles should be stiff.

I guess that means I prefer wrestling as opposed to sportz entertainment, though ring entrance means a lot to me.

I like it when the right balance of elements is attained. 2000 WWF with Rock vs. HHH and good stuff from Foley, Benoit, Angle, Jericho, and later Austin (as well as the aforementioned two) is a good example of what I mean.

Well, I just wish there was more wrestling since it is, well, WRESTLING.

I think that the current Sports Entertainment, if you ditch nWo, Undertaker, and other losers, and make every match at least 7 minutes long (unless its a squash, someone gets hurt in the match or it just plain sucks), would be a good mix.

And yeah, WWF 2000 was probably the best.

its hard to say, you were trained to like wrestling, but WWF comes around and trains you to like Sports Entertianment. My favortie way of putting it:

Long wrestling matches+Sports Entertianment=good product. Get alot of good matches and it won't suck. If they did longer matches on TV, they wouldn't need to rely on Austin, Angle, Triple H, Rocky, and Benoit carring a PPV to make it "Good".

Give me a 30 minute TV match followed up by a 45 minute blowoff on PPV, I'm in heaven man...

I prefer wrestling overall.  you can't deny there needs to be promos, but i think the promos should be short (at a max of 5 minutes, with 2 per hour) and meaningful (not about a fucking dog taking a shit on the floor).  there doesn't need to be 2/3 of the show filled with promos and stare downs if the wrestlers are talented and can do the "story telling" in the ring.
