McMahon becoming a storyline character

Think about it, sure we got Austin/McMahon, which helped drive the WWF/E back to #1.

But it also set Vince's mind and convinced him that HE should be the focal point of every major incident.

Does anyone here wish he'd stayed a bad announcer, even if it meant giving up the McMahon/Austin saga?

Who knows. Vince would have eventually put himself in the spotlight sooner or later. Least we got one good run for it.

I'm very sick of Mcmahons. Linda is awful, but she's not there too much. Steph is annoying. Vince is boring. And Shane's good for a while, but he always overstays his welcome.

If they could give me a year without a Mcmahon I could be happy.

If it wasn't for the Mr. McMahon character the WWF may never have defeated WCW and became #1 again, so no. Plus Vince was entertaining for a while.

The McMahon/Austin saga was "THE" biggest angle wwe had and it's what appealed the new fans and drove the market up.

So yeah it was worth it in that sense...

Eh, to me it seems like having great sex (McMahon/Austin, Rise of the WWF) and getting an STD(the past two years of Vince and everything else sucky). Sure, you could say "Well, we go Angle/Benoit!" but those warts go away for a while, only to come back...

It was worth it. WWE may not have survived without it, and with WCW being the only game left in town, we could be in worse shape than we are with only Vince running the ship.

When I watch old wrestling tapes from the 80's or early 90's it is a breath of fresh air because there are NO authority figures except for Jack Tunney and he made a rare appearance every 6-8 months and was only on camera for 2-3 minutes. Every storyline was focused on the wrestlers, and there was more focus on tag-teams and mid card wrestlers. Vince was only a play by play man and was great in that role with Jesse Ventua at his side. Back then Vince knew that it was the wrestlers that made him money and put butts in the seats. Somehow he has forgotten that concept.

I wish he could go back to the focus being on the wrestlers, I'm tired of everything having a McMahon involved with it. I'm tired of Vince and Stephanie writing themselves into main angles and matches. If Vince would focus more time on building up wrestlers and good wrestling storylines and less on him and his family's on screen roles I think WWe would be in better shape today.

As it is the McMahon overkill is one of the reasons my interest in the product is fading every week. And there is no end in sight. :(

I guess it was worth it, but Vince and Jesse sure were a great announce team back in the day.
