Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 From a newspaper report reported on 1wrestling.com: McMahon's interview was the longest, it basically talked about the first show he ever promoted in 1971 and how his dad didn't want him as a promoter or a wrestler. Also it went on to say he is not ready to contemplate retiring because there is nothing in the world he comes close to enjoying as much as wrestling. He said he reads the internet sometimes but there is "a lot of bunk" out there. He said he stopped reading it because everyone said he was trying to push some people down and he said that he would never do that because the bigger his stars get, the more everyone makes, and the better off everyone is. Two points: 1) At least he admits he reads the internet - in an interview only a little while ago, he said he never went on the 'net and refused to allow his writers to do so. 2) On his point about making money - someone better tell him 'stars' is a plural because the only person being made a star on the RAW brand is HHH.
Guest jester Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 "I would never do that because the bigger HHH gets... I mean, the bigger our stars get, the more Steph... I mean everyone makes, and the better off everyone is."

So he's identified the problem at least. Unfortunately he's currently in denial.
Guest JaKyL25 Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 It seems to me that Vince wants to make money as much as the next businessman. I think his real problem is not that he's "holding people down", per se, just that he's pretty much COMPLETELY lost the pulse of the audience that he had in the past, particularly in the mid-80s and in 98-00. I think he honestly thinks that this is the best way to go about doing business, and he has too many yes men/backstage politicians to realize that he took a wrong turn at Albequerque.
